I love this game, animations are by far the best out of any mmo, plus rag doll on physics awesome! The pvp is great, and having a lot of fun pirating others on the high seas! It has a deep crafting system, that I enjoy. The things you can do in this game besides quest and still earn good xp is vast, so you'll never end up board. Don't want to quest do some crafting, don't want to craft farm, don't want to farm, run trade pack missions, don't want to run trade packs kill other players, don't want to kill other players then why not fish! Plenty of options to lvl and break up getting tired of the game.
Now for the issues, as no game is perfect. The game tends to leak memory at times, requiring a restart. The free to play system is really a demo cause the labor point system is rather limited when you don't subscribe. Personally I think it should be a sub only game, which goes into our next problem of gold farmers spamming the chat. They are getting better at banning these asshats but it is still annoying and seems really prevalent in new mmo releases. Lag spikes do happen and they are becoming less frequent. Not a lot of info out there on the things you can do in the game and how to do them which semi hurts it in the end. You need someone with experience in the game to tell you how to accomplish certain things that probably should of had a tutorial of some sort to begin with. Questing becomes waaaaay to grindy at 45+ which i resorted over to crafting to get to 50, once I was 45. Finally, who ever designed the housing plot areas needs a new job because the placing sucks ass, allowing for wasted space which means less homes for everyone.
Still plan on playing this game for a long time to come. Remember more land will open up when the other continent becomes available as guilds will move there. This is by far the best and most interesting mmo to be released this year as ESO was a let down (I even worked there for a bit, sadness), and wildstar just became uninteresting. Archeage brings me back to the classics that I loved so much while adding a lot more, and with time it will really become a unique gem until star citizen or everquest next comes out XD.
People who quit AA, please do us a favor. Say your server and your land spot, because we enjoy game and we need land. Thank you !!!!
Honestly ppl, I laugh on your arguments. How can a game be hardcore Korean grinding mmo when labor is limited and forbids you to go that way ??? Do you enjoy other mmos more when u can grind to death ??? Exploits, bots and gold farmers etc, exist on every mmo. If you want to go that way nothing stops you, nothing stops you to spend 1000 euros per month either to buy everything from ebay or goldtraders on various internet sites. To be honest nothing stops you to go and rob a bank tomorrow and be a millionaire......
AA is an MMO with capital letters. Purpose is to form guilds and play with guild mates and have fun. We run as a guild and fear nothing. If u want a single player game, go play swtor, eso, wow and various other single player mmos. Cant wait we build ships and castles !!!
(Best experience I ever had in years, having to deliver my trade pack with friends through the ocean on hostile territory to get my big farm quest done. You should have been on our teamspeak to listen to the tension, fun and laughs!!! Well done AA. )
-Land is such an important part of this game, and also one of the most abused parts of the game. If you don't have any, you'll be so far behind most other players it's pointless to even try. Grinding dungeons will burn you out really quickly and the rewards are not really worth the effort.
-Entire housing areas taken up by a small number of houses planted at angles so that they take up all the room by a single guild. Hell, they have housing areas marked on the map where you are unable to plant houses for some unknown reason, the entire area is disabled when you try to drop a thatched hut as well as small or medium houses. ((Above Birchwood near the top end of the map comes to mind right away. Another is located in Cinderstone Moore.))
-Trion, XL Games have video proof of people that are using hacks to accumulate areas all over one continent at the same time and most likely won't do a thing about it.((You can see it on YouTube. As well as the teleport/ passing through a mountain glitch/hack.))
-Open world gathering is a joke. Wood especially. This comes back to having land, again.
-Your area just gone to war and your only a level 30? Find yourself a 50 to suck up to, or learn to get your ass kicked repeatedly by the other factions small e-peened level 50's, or set the timer and log off until your area's not at war. Going back and crafting in the last area you were in is only viable if you have the materials for it.((See where having land is important?)) And grinding for 8 hours to make 15 gold after you've burned your LP opening loot purses is not worth it in my opinion.
-Using LP to open loot purses is a joke. And even worse, it costs even more LP to open each type as you level up. Not really seeing how opening a cloth purse is any harder if it's a farmers or a noblemans. ((Maybe the noblemans is made out of enchanted leather or something.))
-Classes are unbalanced for the most part with only a few viable PvP classes available. Out of a 120, maybe 10 - 15 are usable PvP choices if you want to consistently win.
I'm a Patron until the 18th of November, but I have a feeling I'll burn out long before that.

No one wants a sandpark MMO. Especially one that is dull and with a completely offensive community running the chat.
I see you didn't answer the question and by "no one" you mean yourself, right? So enlighten us all, what *do* you want? And what are you playing currently?
1) I played early Alpha, when the game was 10x better before they introduced the Korean grind.
2) Remember when Trion promised there would never be LP potions or any sort of pay to win items? Whoops.
3) It turned my guild into rabid lunatics. They set schedules of who is crafting what for how much labor and told everyone what to plant on their farm to give to X person to skill up Y. Screw that.
4) The farming (when you do have land, and I had plenty of land), was just more Facebook-like and mind numbing than anything else.
5) What am I really grinding for in the end? A castle that we get to fight over for all eternity? Endless PvP against the same people for all time? Nah, no thanks.
My main problem is Trion. Aside from all the launch issues, there's been so much crap from them - some stuff that's plainly illegal, like selling the founder's packs advertising them as available to all characters, and then after people bought them changing it so it's only available to six characters. People have very different opinions on what pay to win means (I hate this 'you don't know what it means' thing people say, like there's an official definition), but I don't like the cash shop on top of a subscription with items that not only affect gameplay, can dominate it.
If this had been a subscription only game without the cash shop, I think it'd have been great. It wouldn't have been such a cash grab, but I do think it would have a stronger base and wouldn't have half of the issues it has, and without a doubt it could have supported itself.
Trion before the game is released "Oh look I can completely avoid questing and go do whatever from level one, endgame starts at level one" not direct quotes but mains points they made constantly while livestreaming and talking about the game. Day one and I have to follow a questline to DO ANYTHING! That is why I quit. I didn't want to do quests I wanted to go straight to farming. Couldn't do that so I just said screw it...If I wanted so much themepark I'd go play a themepark.
Just 1 thing maybe this does not fit into this thread and i am not a fanboy, just can't see those posts which are totally wrong.
1) It is p2w, if you grind up some gold (tradepacks/quests) in 3 days and buy patron for 1 month?
2) It is p2w if you do 3 traderuns which take you 30 mins, to buy a potion with 1k labour points?
3) Combat feels clunky, because you need to do situational skills and move alot around, and not this easy spamfest like other games?
4) Pvp is bad because you're always loosing?
Just think of it, if you don't even know the basics of the economy stop writing things which are not true.
I tell 2 negatives which are really not cool. Headstarters took all the house/farm spots, with atleast 2 characters. They can plant so much and sell everything to gather gold for patron status, for many months.
Bad players form a zerg guild to have success at all, and not beeing ganked by small guilded pirates.
I see slightly pay to win, as APEX is the only produced through cash shop (direct or indirect, it only comes from cash shop).
As for labour, I frequently have labour at 3000, and it depends on what you do with it, and how you do with it. As a handicraft proficiency, labour isn't the issue, but waiting for corals (24 hours to grow 2 upgrade materials) have been the bottleneck.
The biggest issue is people mining with no purpose. They have no project or they want to rush the project, then it is up to them. And they can always use AH to reserve labour.
So I think if those people who doesn't care about Labour : Gold ratio, I don't think they deserve to complain about labour. As they can adept to the game instead of asking the world to adept for them. Labour is something that reflects 24 hours in the real world, and it should stays the same.

I know for a fact that as of last night even the servers launched on day 3 of the headstart are not out of land. (I imagine Ollo and Kyrios and the other 4 are out, so ... don't roll there.)
-Entire housing areas taken up by a small number of houses planted at angles so that they take up all the room by a single guild. Rotating your house at an angle has no impact on it's footprint. All it does it make it possible to plant certain trees in the corners that would otherwise be impossible.
-Trion, XL Games have video proof of people that are using hacks to accumulate areas all over one continent at the same time and most likely won't do a thing about it.((You can see it on YouTube. As well as the teleport/ passing through a mountain glitch/hack.))
I dunno my guildmate had the menu pop up on a high value house and didn't know he had to click it. :O It could have been ours.
I think a lot of these incidents are frustrated players who lost the race and are forwarding urban legends. (Though I confident some jerks are exploiting teleport hacks from time to time.)
-Open world gathering is a joke. Wood especially. This comes back to having land, again.
Really? I've been very successful with off-grid farming. My hit rate is less than it was in Beta, but still plenty profitable.
-Your area just gone to war and your only a level 30? Find yourself a 50 to suck up to, or learn to get your ass kicked repeatedly by the other factions small e-peened level 50's, or set the timer and log off until your area's not at war. Unless you're carrying a trade pack or it's war stage, most people don't bother to gank you while farming in a PVP zone. If it happens it only sets you back about a minute anyway.
-Using LP to open loot purses is a joke. And even worse, it costs even more LP to open each type as you level up. Not really seeing how opening a cloth purse is any harder if it's a farmers or a noblemans. ((Maybe the noblemans is made out of enchanted leather or something.))
Nautrally a nobleman could afford a better lock (and there's more goodies to protect). ;o)
-Classes are unbalanced for the most part with only a few viable PvP classes available. Out of a 120, maybe 10 - 15 are usable PvP choices if you want to consistently win.
Where? The arena? Who cares about that. In open world play, it's more about a) who gets the jump on the other, b) who brought the numbers, and c) player knowledge and skill.
And as example, most archers will take most of their skills from the archery line, and maybe some from say, shadowplay. Thus the third pool can't possibly make your build unplayable.
That's 8 viable builds right there.
I'm a Patron until the 18th of November, but I have a feeling I'll burn out long before that.
You may already be burned out, but I hope you find some enjoyment in it.
I uninstalled it last night. Queues, bots, spammers, broken land system ...
Also there wasn't a lot to pull me in. I was not finding any real sense of place or atmosphere; all too generic.
I could also mention that the loot seems very dull; just one coin purse after another. I never saw any equipment drop and everyone around me looked identical because everyone had the same limited armour. Admittedly this is in the early zones, but in other games there is more of a range even in starting zones.
Music is rather poor - soon turned it off. Oh, and those tedious cut-scenes where you have to stare at a badly-done painting.
I might try it again after a time, but for now there are other games to explore.
Boring, for a lot of things you may stay online, not for casual players (i've less than 1h a day to play, when i can do it), charming such as a kick in the botton, and so on.
Seems like most of the issues people have are easily fixable if Trion had any understanding of anything.
1) P2P servers without cash-shop.
2) Removal of LP system replaced with simply gold / faster LP regen / ways to replenish LP in-game.
3) Improved rates on P2P servers to ease the grind.
Won't happend though.
Really completely disagree with the above.
While P2P would heavily reduce the amount of player on the servers and free land up, it would also destroy the PvP element o the game and because of the vast amount of land that exists, the servers would feel empty. An empty game isnt a fun game. If I am not mistaken this was an exact goal of Trion (see the great interview article).
The LP system, while yelled a lot at, is an integrate part of the games economy. The whole farming thing would have to be redesigned if that changed. Trion has tried to reduce the problems they found with it as much as they could.
Improved rates of what? Of Loot? Not even getting this point. Loot could maybe be more interesting but.. more of it?
Not to say that the game design is good, because it certainly isnt. So many really odd decisions that really was eliminated in western designed game years ago. But Koreans are excellent learners, so the next MMO that XLGames produces could be a good game. (Think they are workingon Civilization Online atm?)
I've made it to level 24 but that's it; been there, done that.
I must admit that the open world is nice at first, but then you see that in reality it's the WoW zones all over again, not really open but tiered by level.
The game is polished, if it had come out a few years earlier it would probably have been much more impressive, but I don't really get the feeling it's a sandbox that I can play it my way.
I hit level 50 and realized I was only just starting to play the game. Everything is pure grind for the sake of grinding for the chance to get 1% better at something when you go up a proficiency level. There are hurdles thrown in randomly that make no sense to the crafting system - Archeum... really? I thought a dagger was made of metal... silly me!
My primary class was side-lined by XLGames' treatment of them. One handed club users, AKA the tried and true cleric from the old D&D days. There are no clubs available and few healing items available from the standard drops everyone else uses for their classes' gear.
Panting fucking seeds, in round fucking circles over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again and again and again and again!! I harvested over 110,000 mushrooms to advance Alchemy. That's about the same as planting 50,000 mushroom spores. My farm easily holds just over 100 mushroom plants at a time. That's 500 times I had to plant and harvest mushrooms... given their 2 hour growth period, that equates to just under 1,000 hours spent planting nothing but these fucking mushrooms!!!!! I started to do this again when the game went live and just got sick to my stomach.
Suffering through all of the above knowing that bots, hacks and gold sellers are essentially hijacking the economy and real estate in-game. A new continent is supposed to open up and nothing has been said about fixing the things that broke the first two to begin with. No thanks.
Long reply was deleted so I'll go for this. This is a game that doesn't want you to play it. Free players are bait for others to increase their infamy or rob. The PvP in this game consists of being ganked by friendly faction while trying to level.
It really is a mediocre game.
If you try to defend it with the fact that there are patches incoming, you must realize that the game itself has some serious design flaws (poor labor point system, incredibly poor questing) and the core of the game (labor points) only accrue at 5 points per 5 minutes of ONLINE time. Which means you'll barely be able to open the standard drops of mobs. Don't even think of getting into the crafting and gathering systems, as they cost entirely more labor than you will be able to gain.
The patches themselves are delayed due to taking the game from Korean to NA servers. Good luck seeing any progress in this game as it has set itself up to be doomed from the start. I'd care, but I already played Vanguard on launch, which had many redeeming features compared to ArcheAge as it currently exists.
I don't think it's very sad, as I didn't expect much in the first place. The PvP is bad, the crafting/labor system is HORRIBLE and the PvE has had little or no time invested into it by the developers. There is no reason to continue playing the game unless you enjoy shocking people with your anecdotes of going out to sea in an incredibly expensive boat and having something random happen. People think they have freedom in this game and I think that's what the developers want them to continue believing. The game itself has a very short lifespan in the US and no patches have addressed major issues in the game. Everyone seems to be in a rush to see as much as they can before they burn out or the servers die off.
From a botched launch to a botched live game, I don't see a future for this. But I don't ind anyone having fun right now. Hell, I think they should enjoy it while the game is still in existence, because given the current run of events it won't be around very long.

As one person who quit the game... due to the unbalanced Labor system. I will defend it... that the game is fun as a grief game.
I assume that the PVP system would be better with geared characters who have life and defense. But as a game in the early stages... players die too quickly. I had fun ganking people ... I liked the idea of how guilds would jump on each other, even if they were the same faction.
It was fun in an organized guild, cant imagine playing solo. The world forces people into situations to pvp... which is good imo. But your right for the most part... game will die fast, once people hit high end gear. Get a refund I already have!!

If you find this game boring, you just dont get it!

I have yet to meet any Archer that was doing ok in PvP and I do PvP all the time (not from boats). I have tried all kinds of builds.
Most are melee because they then get to be able to jump, stun and kill in one go.
My blog about (no more)MMORPG Addicted - a bog about videogames, cinema, politics and other things (in Italian)
Im not gonna be "that guy" who talks down games that others may like. This one just wasn't for me, that's all.
When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.
I wanted to add one more thing....yes I cancelled
The worst.....WORST main quest line I have ever witnessed....its not even "go kill this go kill that"
"it's go talk to that person over there across the road" ding ding ding 2000xp and a gilda star....then
come back too me and tell me you talked to that person....ding ding ding 1500xp YOU WIN!!!!!
really???
how utterly boring and uninspiring....
