Why I'm Glad I Don't Listen to People On MMORPG.com

DaranarDaranar Member UncommonPosts: 392

I'm not sure where all the hate lies.  I know some people were burned by TRION's customer service and others had a hard time dealing with the bots in the game.   However, after having given this game a solid shot, I am enjoying the heck out of it!   There was so much trash talk on these forums about it, but man am I loving it.  But...

Let's be honest:

The game is overrun with bots and it creates problems at times.   It is the ONLY thing keeping me from subscribing.   Most of why I want to subscribe is for land, but the gold selling bots take up all the land.   Once TRION gets a better handle on the bots (as I have seen small improvements in my time on ArcheAge) I will be subscribing.

Yes, there are a lot of annoying idiots in this game.   But once you get past the annoying Faction chat channel, the idiots kinda make the game what it is!   There are idiots in the world, there are aholes who scam people and that makes certain things in a society tick, and so it does in ArcheAge.   I  have aligned myself with a Guild that is honest to the Faction and kind to one another and have since seen the value in Pirates and scumbags.

Yes the F2P limits you and makes you want to subscribe.  It's a business, they have to.

Yes even with a subscription, there are things that make you want to spend more money.   One could argue Pay 2 Win, however, compared to games like NeverWinter Online, it's nothing.   I have managed to navigate my way around without spending a dime as I wait for certain issues to be resolved before subscribing.  It's not as much of a block compared to NWO, SWTOR, EQ1 or 2, or others.

Once we address the honest concerns, that EVERY game has to some degree, you can really start to enjoy it for what it is.   AND, what it is is NOT a game for everyone, but it is a game for me...while I wait eagerly for EQ Next!  :D

TLDR;  Give it a try!  It's FREE!   It's not as bad as the doomsayers make it out to be.  In fact, give more games a try (not 10min), an honest try.  You will see the negative doomsayers on these forums are often wrong.  :)

To sum up; YES there are a bunch of deal breaker issues with Archeage, but hey, give it a try, I'll sub someday. Also, all you naysayers are WRONG!

This is not really a convincing argument.

played it, 'twas a pretty, borefest, full of shitty people.

Two days of play at launch (around 10 hours) confirmed it's full of bots, hacks and gold spammers, a quick check of the Official Forums and Reddit confirm my observation.

    The hate comes from:

    1) People who prematurely bought packs for over $50-100 and expected to automatically "win" the game (guaranteed house spot, P2W cash shop etc.)

    2) MMO newbies who were never part of a MMO release before and expected it to be flawless

    3) Fanboys of other games that are scared shitless that a F2P MMO is better and more popular than their P2P/B2P MMO

    4) a combination of the above

Nah, the honeymoon fallacy implies folks like the OP don't genuinely enjoy the game, I'm sure they do enjoy it, I still enjoy most MMO's I had fun in, whether I may play them still or not. A game you like is a game you like.

    Exactly, the funny thing is...

If you ask them what game their currently playing, it's always NOTHING. They are all waiting for that perfect game without problems.

GW2 they complained about Bots, Hackers, Gold Spammers and glitches.

ESO they complained about Bots, Hackers, Gold Spammers and glitches.

AA they are complaining about Bots, Hackers, Gold Spammers and glitches.

Your reasons here hold some merit, they are not however, all inclusive. I have been present at more launches than I care to try to remember, I have alpha through release tested quite a few games and I form my opinion, or what I will put up with off of my personal tastes.

You seem to be one of the haters, your post was designed to make yourself seem superior while holding all others in contempt. I get where you are coming from, but your delivery is rather immature.

As I said, some of your 'reasons' have merit. Some people are just going to hate no matter what. I get that as well.

My personal tolerance is very very low for bots (thank you lineage 2) so, to me that is a deal breaker. Did I come here and slam the game...actually yes I did during beta when they did a total re-vamp and essentially ruined the game for ME. That's not to say thousands of other won't find it entertaining (obviously they do) just that it is not entertaining for me. But the bot issues is what sealed the deal for me, so I went my own way.

So to me the laziness of Trion to get in and root out the bots is intolerable. Does that make it a bad game? Probably not, others things (again my opinion) do that most obviously the community, which I relate to cross roads chat on steroids.

So, in short I don't like the game and I put my opinions out there for others to take in, but not necessarily form opinions off of. Just relating my experience.

If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.

Dont know what you both are talking about. How many different MMOs were you playing regularly over the last 10 years? Thought so.

Or 5) The game just isn't for everyone and they post their opinions about it.

The best place to check any new release is in it's official forum. This game still has players in the General Forums complaining with little to no in game help among the discussions. Sure there are a few questions about things in game and help, but most are just negative posts.

No one ever said the honeymoon wasn't genuine enjoyment.

(as an aside, I personally define the Honeymoon not just as the newness of the MMO, but also as the "before end-game/level cap" period.  MMOs in general are a ton more fun before you hit "end-game" most of the time.  I admit that not everyone shares the same definition of Honeymoon as me for MMOs)

When you base a large part of your game around Housing, Crafting, and Farming you should probably have enough room for your playerbase to House, Craft, and Farm. Even if you want to try and compete and find a spot being demo'd and have a chance at it, you must cheat. If you do not autoclick, at the very least, you ARE NOT getting the land. Period.

It kills me too because I enjoy this game, I am still happy I gave them my 15$ However I will not be resubbing. In a couple months when botting/land is fixed I will come back... well if theres still a game by then to come back to.

glad you are enjoying AA, I tired it too, wasn't for me.  that's not trashing the game, I see no reason in trashing a game I don't happen to like, if others do, great for them.  Im having a blast with ESO myself.

When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.

Nothing wrong with a regional release of a game that has been out for 2 years with a thread from the community manager on the official forums talking about 16K bots banned during Alpha (2.4 million $) and expecting zero issues with bots in game during F2P launch.

    /sarcasm

    2. Hate posts - the sports fan mentality - some people can't stand it when the "other" game is doing better than their own game

    3. High number of posts in forums (both good and bad - shows interest) - games that are dead nobody talks about anywhere

Either way - don't let the forum talk bring ya down

This is like the only person on these forums that actually has constructive posts. :)
