Fans of classic heavy metal will be happy to hear that Metallica will be performing at this year's Blizzcon to be held in early November in Anaheim, California. The iconic band will be performing on November 8th to a sold-out show.
Metallica is coming to BlizzCon® 2014! On November 8, Blizzard Entertainment’s two-day Warcraft®, StarCraft®, and Diablo® community celebration will culminate with Metallica performing to a sold-out convention crowd, broadcast worldwide through the BlizzCon Virtual Ticket.
“We’re thrilled to have Metallica blowing out our speakers at BlizzCon this year,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “After two full days of epic gaming and intense eSports action, an earth-shaking concert is the perfect sendoff for everyone at the show and watching from home.”

Talk about getting one of the worst bands of all time!
I'm sure they could have gotten Weezer to play! =-(

Meh. They just don't seem very relevant. I did see that at Monsters of Rock and a couple years later in Philadelphia and they were good shows. I can't help but feel like this is more Metallica getting promoted by Blizzard than the other way around. :-)
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
And then you would've had somebody here that replaced the word Weezer with Metallica so what's your point?
Sorry, I think I'm probably heard more people say, about Cold Play, something like, "Gawd! Why can't these guys die in a plane crash already?" than "Awwwww! Turn that up!! That's my jam!"

So, i know a lot of people complained that they were selling out and becoming mainstream and stuff when they all cut their hair or whatever back in the day. But, there is selling out, and there is selling out. This is definitely the real selling out.
(FYI: I dont really blame them, i mean, money is money, and they're past being releveant in modern music, so, honestly who cares about "keeping it real" or whatever, but you gotta admit, that is the definition of selling out)

Somebody, somewhere has better skills as you have, more experience as you have, is smarter than you, has more friends as you do and can stay online longer. Just pray he's not out to get you.
Metallica is the reason half you kids were even made. Getting drunk , rocking out, and making you is what people did when they listened to them.
Not quite as bad as Steven Tyler doing Burger King commercials.
What happened to ya Steve?

I'll give em credit for having a few albums I really liked at one time and probably still would consider quite good but...you need to understand a lot of people posting here were probably not even born when those albums were released.
Selling out has nothing to do with playing a convention for money. It has to do with playing something you don't like or want to in order to make money.
Now you've gone and made me defend Metallica... god dammit.
Relevant? Are there any relevant rock bands right now? All I hear are a bunch of poptastic cash cows, or barely known hipster bands whose lack of talent is offered up as an ironic alternative.
I agree that Metallica is beyond relevant these days, but one could do far, far worse. Honestly, there are no rock bands today with the cultural force that Black Sabbath, Metallica, Iron Maiden, AC/DC (or Beatles) had in their relevant days.
Man, starting to sound like my grandpa, lol.
this is a good fit!
Old and tired metal band...meet old and tired MMO. Maybe now we can get some old and tired food to go with?

I've always loved Metallica. I kind of hate that their career has gone down so far that they're playing Blizzcon.
That was not a "hate" statement against Blizzard. I guess it just makes me feel old knowing that a band, I loved as a teenager, is down to this. Blizzcon is the "has-been" graveyard. But I guess a job is a job.
