I will probably play it eventually. I was kind of hoping for something new, I feel they could really bring it by introducing a whole new type of experience, but it's just another WoW expac in essence... for better or worse.
Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile

    2. Instances, instances, instances.  When WoW first came out it was an excellent sandbox.  Now it's just a game of instance hopping, instant travel.  You can even group up cross server and escape any pvp, or even use it to grief.

    3. CrossServer everything basically kills off your server drama, guilding, pvpiing, etc...   Running over some random for honor points will never be as fun as getting to kill the annoying server brat.

    4. Microtransactions from a company that said they would never do it.

    5. No Crafting in any form that's interesting.   I can play free games now with superior crafting.

So I cant say I'm surprised that the new expansion has been really lackluster and probably not even close to the numbers of previous expansions.  I only just now saw they had a new expansion out.

Blizzard took an epic experience and tried to milk, milk, milk it by making it more shallow for every LCD to play.  Now you have it here, a dying empire.

well, i guess some people just don't like mmos.

It is indeed dead to us. We were locked up on both WoW and D3,  even on credit cards and for that we will never forgive Activision or Bliztard for that. They had asked for proof of ID. What a joke, we bought it via credit cards. Good things they had cancelled Titan, because we will never buy Activision/Blizzard products ever again. D3 was the final culprit.

Just die the ways of the Dinosaurs with EA, and thank you for your patronizes.

Will make for some interesting drama in any event.

    Fixed.

    Fixed?

If you think it's difficult to master any of the available classes, you might want to think again. It might be difficult for you, on a personal level, but for the majority it certainly isn't.

I'm a multi season top 5 percentile glad, and I can teach any competent player to get to that same level in a very, very short period of time.

Your own incompetence is just that: your own. Take note.

Sure, and what's your character name and who do you do 3s with?

Also we were talking about Blizzard simplifying mechanics and dumbing the game down, if it's already so simple and easy why would you have to teach anybody how to play? Apparently instead of reading & understanding the whole purpose of my reply, you'd rather brag about how great you are, however, I do appreciate you agreeing with my point to begin with, so thanks for that.

TL:DR - The whole point of the reply was the game being made easier to learn for new players, but you ended up admitting that the game still isn't easy and you'd still have to teach them how to play.

Don't argue just to argue because it makes you look naive.

It's just not the same game anymore that I played years ago. There was very little sense of discovery anymore, very little sense of achievement and most importantly, little sense of identity for me.

The latter was what really mattered the most to me in the game, and the new WoW sort of lost it. Even though everything was well crafted and a ton of fun was to be had, the content felt rather empty for the most part. Everyone was sort of going his own little way and little community sense was left. I spent most of the time in MoP WoW in dungeons alongside complete strangers.

It's still a good game in many ways, it's just not the one for me any longer.

Well said. People picking on the 'sandbox' part of the OP's post are really missing the point.

WoW has also lost the things I loved about it. I loved leveling, exploring the world and having a meaningful community.

Now guilds don't do anything anymore. The last few guilds I was in had zero chat going, it was pointless being in one other than for the perks.

Worse: I love leveling in MMOs. Now it's trivial, beyond trivial. I want a challenge when I level. Now I can use the crappiest crap gear and constantly pull 3 or 4 mobs from 1 - 85 and have little chance of dying. What's the point of that? I also loathe the guided questing with no alternatives.

There are fairly trivial things that could be done to make leveling challenging again. Give me  percentage slider for how fast or slow I want to level. Right now, content goes by way too fast when leveling at the accelerated pace Blizzard has set. Let me play it my way (wasn't this always Blizz's mantra?) and let me decide how fast I want to level in any given place or level range. Likewise, let me decide if I want quest mobs to be insanely trivial (like now) or tough (like Vanilla).

Wow has, over the years, become just an end-game game. Get chars to max level as quickly as possible so you can run the same dungeons and raids and daily quests over and over and over.

I also don't feel I was getting my money's worth. I've played many free and subscription MMOs besides WoW and they all constantly bring out new content, new classes, etc. New classes are the life blood of an MMO, a new way to experience and handle a game's content. WoW has added 2 new classes in 10 years!

Not to mention that expansions are 2 years apart and we have to pay for those, too, after already shelling out $15/month. I've played numerous free (IM) games that bring out expansion-type content consistently every few months, and have constant patches and minor updates and events in between.

Clearly many people enjoy WoW still and it's great for you if you do. I have fond memories of WoW, it'll always be one of the top games of the genre and I've enjoyed many years playing it, it just isn't for me anymore.

Wow was not a sandbox. It was inspired by EQ which was also most definitely not a sandbox.

Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.

Well, OhhPaigey, I think if you're not aware of how great crafting can be in an MMO, you haven't strayed too far from WoW to discover what's out there.

I played wow for years.  Freaking years!  And it's crafting, I must admit, is woefully inferior to several MMOs on the market.  Even GW2, which is a very casual MMO comparatively speaking, has more interesting and indepth crafting.  Wushu, EQ, SWG, Repopulation, Archeage... kinda anything has better crafting than Wow.

Yes, well said. I crafted in WoW because I had to to make gold, but not because I enjoy it. Ok, I actually enjoy gathering, it's really relaxing.

I love crafting in EQ 2 and Atlantica Online. It's an in-depth part of those games, not just and afterthought. Atlantica Online even has the concept of guild crafting, which is totally awesome! EQ 2 has really great crafting features for guild halls.

WoW a sandbox?  No sir.  That said, I'm back playing after 3 years away, and enjoying it.  The perfect game for a casual player with a wife and kid that I always swore against having...

What the hell happened to me?  =D

The OP's reason list is really reaching for it. Its like he just posted it because he knows the site has wow haters. Blizzard is the only mmo company that has a clue as to what they are doing. You can hate on it all you want. A ten year old game still on top even with the release of so called wow killers like Wildstar, AA and ESO. All called the next best mmo's by people right on this board. And they were all wrong.

Well said. The only solution for Activision Bliztard to get us return to theirs products is to refunds all purchase on both games and subscriptions we had paid for, then we shall resume our amiability for what they had done to locked-up and asking for ID proof even thought we had paid by credit card.

Otherwise gtfo and join the ways of EA.
