OH please people! stop comparing this crap to Lineage 2.

L2 has twice or even more the content RF online has to offer. Giga 3? bunch of maps and some armors and levels..nothing much.

And cmon? beat WoW? LOL thats new? ::::12::

may i remind u that not EVEYONE likes wow... and not EVERYONE plays wow so this is an good game to play without hearing al that ''zomgz wowz is the pwnzorzzz... '' its an mmorpg wich can still beat others if it has enough PLAYER SUPPORT instead of complaining and whining about an game tell the rfo moderators what needs to be changed. i'm taking an example here : the potions. 1sec reload. that is just an minor sumthing that can be changed whenever u like to whatever u like. thats just somerthing small.

Well I quite like the game and will play it when it goes live.
However I do agree with many of the comments that have been made so far.
PvP is a lot of fun but the interface and 'questing' system do leave a lot to be desired.

As for the 'you can reach lvl 25 in a day' - you cant if:
    (a) you dont play for 24 hrs straight without sleeping or eating
    (b) you are levelling properly and not neglecting your pt's.

I dont want to put people off the game because as I said I like it, but people should be warned that this game is not polished like wow or Everquest 2.

The only reason to play this game is for the PvP and RvR. Character development is good in the sense that you can choose to mould your character abit differently. Auction house system is a good idea too.

Everything else about it is game is 'raw' to say the least.

Will it improve with the updates?

That's anyones guess - In the meantime I would say think carefully before buying this one

    Beat WoW? ::::31::

Need i remind you here that RF Online is already considered one of the biggest dispointments in the south koren mmorpg market? several server mergers have already been performed, population has droped to less than half of what it was at launch in Korea and the game has a non existent presence in the south korean internet cafe´s, wich by the way, represent a big portion of online gamning in south korea, especialy mmorpg´s.

So if this game is failing miserably in Korea, its original and intended market, where people love pvp games with huge grinds, then how can you expect it to succeed in europe and north america?

I think you should all come to grips with reality, RF online will reach Matrix online population numbers not many months after its release, you can quote me on that. ::::35::

If you think this game will hit Matrix Online population, then you obviously don't know much about the market. this game still has over 1 million subscribers in Korea and Japan.the game is soon hitting China and is now on his way to Europe and USA. no, this game will not be an enormous hit here but it will have enough subscribers in EU/US to keep it going for a long time, just like Lineage 2.

You know, about that 1,000,000 Asians playing the game. I originally defended the game before I got the beta on grounds that if it has that many players it must be a great game. Now this is going to sound stereotypical, but seriously: do you realize how many people there are in those countries? Their population density is sky high. 1,000,000 of anything over there doesn't add up the same as a 1,000,000 players in the Western market. Of COURSE there are 1,000,000, but that doesn't mean anything.

Insert generic anime quote/My Chemical Romance lyrics here.

where in the world are you reading that its the "biggest disapointment" ? i sure cant find it. Besides the fact that every new mmo that comes out the wow fan bois (not all but most) tend to get erked if a game is getting more hype than wow, they tend to give reviews without tring it out. cant deny that.

yeah, and there are so few people in US and Europe, heck, there are even country's that have no people living in them!

honnestly, those 1 million people are from korea alone. as far as I know, korea doesn't have a higher population then US and EU Combined. and only a few games in US/EU even get to 1 million

Ok all of your fu***** ppl that are destroying the hype for this game are such fu***** pricks. This game is amazing!!! Even though there is a huge grind its tolerable becasue its actually fun. Secondly this game is NOT for WoW fanbois who have never played another mmo in their life. WoW is PvE based, sure theres the sort of big BG at the end but lets face it, RFO PvP= 100's, WoW PvP=80. RFO is a mmo about war. Its an mmo for a more mature audience. WoW is a kiddie game (not tryin to be mean to WoW), its good for total noobs to play. RFO has the best endgame EVER!!! The combat sytem is amazing! sure the chars are generic but i can deal with that cuz its a great game. Im sure that many ppl agree with me on my points. Just try it. Ther are some ppl that wont like it and some that will. This game will have a big community.

    Cheers

Yes, but don't you think that a game that is PvP centric, should focus on PvP straight when you enter the game?

Why slap a bad PvE experience onto it, when you can take that great PvP then substitute it.

As for the 10 minutes thing I said that someone else commented on, of course I was exaggerating, I probably played it for an hour or so. But, alike the other person said, of course I have the right to judge it. When a game is created, the main intent on a developers mind is to make it fun, because after all, that is what games are created for. But when I entered RF Online, nothing grabbed my attention. The graphics weren't great, the map was cluttered and made me more confused on where to go. The initial start from the game has no direction on what you are supposed to do, besides telling you to kill X of this, X of that, and to reach X level, before returning to me.

I know one thing though, If I were to create a game, I would not force players to work in order to unlock the fun part of the game.

If the Endgame is so great, why don’t they make the end game the WHOLE GAME?

Ok well put Scott, but the reason they dont put PvP in the beginning is mostly because it just wouldnt be as fun. They want the players to be pro at the game by lvl 30+ so that the Wars will be intense and a challenge. They just put the PvE in there to grind, and yes its kill X of this as quests, but unlike just grinding in other games the quests give u rewards for grinding your ass off.

As for why dont they make the endgame the whole game, i cant really anwer that except for, they probably want u to play the game for a long time.

I personally think that this game is gonna be the next BIG MMO, there will be expansions and there will be updates. I just want all us hardcore RFO fans to stick together.

I don't like this game either.

I'm level 14 and have 2 friggin moves I actually use...and later in the game it adds like 8ish. I think the game is overhyped also...its fun to play when I'm bored though it dosen't really even feel like a mmo.

The currency is useless..since you find the things you'd have to buy.

The game is filled with worthless noobs who don't know when to stfu and open there eyes and look around.

On top of that everyone looks the same and has the same stuff at the same time.

I sorta agree with you Ryan...maybe I'm just comparing this to DAOC.

  • When you're level one, for any class and race, you have at least 10 skills or more and a experienced players uses all of them. Plus that's why the fp pots are cheap, you power up your skills. So use your buff skills to strengthen your self, drink pot, and then use your offensive skills to attack. I leveled 5 levels in one hour that way and got most of my PTs to max. But I was in a party so, it was sort of power leveling.

My point was that even for something that's strictly PvP, it lacks sufficient content to be a pay-to-play game and survive in the demanding US videogame market. Guild Wars PvP is MUCH more fun than RFs, and it's a max of 8v8v8v8. RF is just too old of a design and too Asian to make it in our market. How the hell Asians can eat this crap up and ask for more is beyond me.

Umm, who's the idiot? It took me 8 hours to reach level 26.You must not know how to level well.

As far as it not having PvE or RP (carebear) content, they never tried to say it did have that. This is a PVP based game.If you want sugar coated quest storylines play WoW.It's the same thing, go here get this many X skins from killing creature Y.All they do is make it more interesting by putting a little story with it.Oh and my favorite, the delivery boy quests that make you run everywhere and waste your time.Guild Wars isn't even an mmo, so why people like you bring that game up is beyond me.To say that GW's PVP is better then RFo's is laughable.Play some more mmo's, then start making comparisons, because as of now it seems to me you have no clue whatsoever.

lol, i agree Deviate. "sugar coated quest" roflao!

But seriosly dont play RFO for the story and PvE play for the PvP!

RF online is for all the anime fanboi's that jerk off to Sailor Moon. It's your standard unoriginal asian crapfest MMORPG that pretty much caters to coke bottle glasses wearing Koreans sitting in an internet cafe all day mindlessly clicking until they keel over and die from lack of nutrition only to end up being processed into next days canned dog food. The only thing they got going for them is thier graphics unfortunately because of their unoriginatlity you pretty much all end up looking like cutsey lil clones. I myself would love to see a great Sci Fi/cyerpunk MMorpg that would bring more originality and customization to the genre but this is not it and such a game would probably never come out of the asian market.

  • fungusmongofungusmongo Member Posts: 6

There is nothing interesting about RF PVP. When you PvP in RFO its more of a numbers game rather than skills. Cooldown for pots makes it annoying. Yes RvRvR is a nice concept, but it lacks the feeling of RvRvR in RF. Chipwars you say? It is pointless since one race will always gang up in another race's already bleeding chip. Simply put, you go ang focus on another race's chip hoping you can outdamage them and win the mines. Sometimes, you dont mind the enemy shooting at you since you're too focused on the chip! Mines you say? you just sit there all day afk then hope some talic comes along...then what? Economy? sheez..It a dumb economy I tell you.

Spamming pots untill someone runs out, now thats kickass pvp, no? ::::12::

PVE and Roleplaying are carebear? i guess beeing one shoted by higher levels untill the end of your gaming session is hardcore? at least i lineage 2 we had alliances and good guild structures, plus you had people willing to help the new players if someone kept ganking them in the newbie areas, but in RF O? either everyone is afk mining, afk grinding or fighint g like minded idiots on the games "mines", to say that is superior gameplay to GW pvp, where you have tons of pvp gamemodes and skill customization, thats got to be the stupidest thing i have read.

Oh and by the way, before badmouthing another games quests, take a look at RF O´s quests, wich are nothing more than kill quests trough the entire game.

Enjoy this little bufget bin game while it lasts, its already gone down the drain in korea with massive server mergers and population loss. Here in the west? it will go down even faster, word of mouth is what makes or brakes a game, and word of mouth for this game is becoming horrible.

Well I agree with a lot of what is being said on both sides. However, you guys do realize that it is like the same 5 or 6 people posting about how much they dislike the game. If you post 30 times how much it is crap, etc, it doesn't mean that is 30 people. It means it is one.

I personally, like it a lot. I think, if anyone did a little bit of research about the game, and found out what it was before they pre-ordered, then they wouldn't be disappointed with it.

Perfect example is if you get on the RFO community forums, everyone that has more than 20 posts or so, loves the game. And the reason...because they weren't expecting it to be something it isn't. They weren't getting into it for PvE and really interesting questing and missions. No one at CM ever advertised this game as being huge on Missions and quests and PvE, so why does everyone get mad when those areas leave a lot to be desired...?

If you are mad at CM for pre-ordering a game you don't like, maybe you should just be mad at yourself for making a rash decision and ordering a game because you saw 5 screenshots of it. I love it, but I knew what to expect at the same time.

  • BafucinBafucin Member Posts: 276

Ummmm well it's BETA. Give some time. And it's not like WoW and other games like that. This game have more focus on GOOD looking characters and massive pvp battles.

It have quests, but thats not what this game is about.

Go play SWG... it's not in BETA... but it's like BETA even worse lol. image

  • pingofdeathpingofdeath Member Posts: 83

So you're saying that if I had gone into the game expecting mindless grind, a terrible community, so-so graphics, a non-existant economy, no real questing, no real partying or grouping, tons of kill-stealing, an army of clones, no NPC interaction, and PvP that is absolutely pointless if you happen to run into someone a meer 4 or 5 levels ahead of you, and drinking potions faster than you can breathe, I'd have enjoyed the game because I wouldn't have been dissillusioned? Sorry, but this game lacks any good content, and even if what it does have was good, it still wouldn't be enough to be worth paying a monthly fee for. There are better free games than this. RFO might attract a lot of players up until its release, but as soon as any reputable game review site gets their hands on it and gives it what it deserves (5/10 at best), any support the game had except from fools with more cash than sense will dry up just as quickly. This game is all hype, and nothing more. I for one won't even continue playing the beta or use my free month after the game's release. This crap will either be back at Gamestop or on E-Bay as soon as I recieve it.
