Seems like the big meeting of CIG people in the UK last week was not only about Squadron 42 but also and especially about capital and multi-crew ships. An in depth look at the way capital and multi-crew ships work has been posted (see link above). Having a multi-crew ship myself - a Constellation Andromeda - its always nice to hear more about the details on how this ship will work (it is supposed to be flight-ready in Arena Commander 2.0 next year).
The article lists many of the actions you can take at the consoles of a multi-crew ship.
And to all you SWG pilot veterans out there .... better start finding a good co-pilot who has a talent for shield management and scanner ops ! You will need it ! ;-)

I am sure it will be close enough to what was promised to avoid any legal action.
I wonder if people even realize what this is, this is like an ultimate SWG Jump to Lightspeed, combined with a multiplayer Star Trek Bridge Commander where you can head out with a crew of players and/or NPCs and actually sit on the captains seat of your own "USS Voyager" or "Star Destroyer" and head into battle or go exploring the unknown.
Amazing write up. CIG provides so much in depth info several times a week, it is a shame to other projects which are sharing little to nothing except for lame advertising.
Actually, I realize exactly what it is, and combined with all the other wonderful features they are planning on delivering, makes it seem like it will be the MMO of the century... and all budget of 62M, er 100M.
Almost seems too good to be true really, so I think I'll hold off on my enthusiasm a bit until more of it comes together.

The player stations look nice but I'm struggling to see much appeal in standing at a futuristic ATM for hours on end. Time will tell I guess.
I wish they would stop redesigning their ships... this must be the 3rd or 4th time now :-)
Everyone is redesigning things in games all the time. But usually you don't see it ... as you only see the finished product after 4-5 years of work. Recently .. with all the early access games and many F2P titles being in constant Beta Test for 2+ years ... this has changed a bit. But i am not familiar with any game except Star Citizen being THAT extensive in its coverage of the design process (e.g. Elite Dangerous had less reports). Which is one of the points why i support this project - i learn a lot about new things and processes.
Have you perhaps played SWG ship combat in multiplayer ships ? Or some of the Star Trek "commander" games ? Or EVE Online fleet combat ? To you it might look boring, just standing before a console doing shield management or handling communication in 12+ channels at once. But in reality its a team of players - in constant communication - that achieves amazing things ... TOGETHER. Where the end result is much more than the sum of its parts. Its a very satisfying game experience.
