I am surprised to see LOTRO get this far, don't get me wrong, I love the game, been playing it since release, it's just that you're lucky if you see more than 200 players online on a server at peek hours. Didn't know people still like the game!
Anyways, I truly think that LOTRO is a far superior game to EVE, the latter has a lot of strategy involved, but to me, it's one of the most boring games out there, I just feel that nothing really happens in that game, maybe it's because of how the game is setup.
As for ESO vs TSW, I like both games and I play them both casually, but ESO to me is more complete as an mmo, and TSW falls a little behind.
And for people who keep bringing back WoW, I have always said that this game is crap, having the most players doesn't make it better, or even good. I compare it to Walmart, the world's biggest store, but it's still crap. These games deserve to on top.
Its popularity/hate contest. Tons of people hate WoW,but most are pretty neutral about LotR.
Same goes for TSW vs ESO,we(tsw) are being accused of cheating, but i think its more of the fact that ESO has haters that vote for tsw instead. If it were just ESO community and TSW community voting TSW would lose easily due to sheer size of the players bases.

Anyone reading that will quickly make up their mind about who to vote for (Spoiler: Go TSW).
So this whole thing about mass voting and cheating started because somebody's trying to look cool and falsely claiming that they have access to IP information and registered votes for every account on here? Lol. Okay. I haven't read anything that absurd in a while. Even members of the ESO forums are calling the guy out on it.
As much as I'm hoping for TSW to win, still wish ESO luck and may the best game progress. In the end, semi-finals is something to be proud of, nobody's a loser here.
ESO is the most graphically beautiful MMO on the market today. It's got the best combat system. The PvP in this game is more fun than any other game I've played. The lore, being based on the TES series, is interesting. The main story is a ton of fun and very well done (even if the Veteran Questing gets dull.) ZOS, the developer, clearly cares about community feedback and makes major changes to the game regularly in response (such as the undergoing move away from the Veteran System to the new Champion System.) Content updates have been regular and substantial.
It's quite simply the best MMO I've ever played (though I love GW2 as well.)
No hard feelings towards those of you voting for TSW, but I hope you lose.

Yup I don't think ill of the ESO community as a whole, Despair9 and Neizir the person that created the thread over at Eso forums and made up the Developer sending out emails to vote drivel truly drag those guys down. He's now passively trying to coerce people into cheating it's really sad and I hope everyone on both sides continue to play fair despite their comments.
It's just a silly voting competition, it really irks me that some folks feel the need to reinforce their insecurities through lies and slander. At least those seem to be few!
You have posts like these (mainly from the same guy):
"MMORPG was paid a heap of money to advertise TSW. This happened with GTA5 and Skyrim beat it and the website ended up in a lot of heat with Rockstar.
This is just a way to bolster interest in TSW which I have played and it feels like a 2006 MMO with no end game and slow content. Just wasn't for me.
But please people, get on and vote, hell, do what TSW peeps were told to do on the sites and make multiple accounts to vote. This blatant use of advertising should be killed by the peoples votes."
AND
"If you're the type that votes more than once, MMORPG doesn't require you to finalize your account to vote (They need to fix that cause everyone is doing it). So you can type a fake email account (Dont have to actually make a new email) and make new mmorpg accounts."
AND
"This is ***. They have all of their members making duplicate accounts and mass voting. We honestly need to do more. It's bad enough the game paid money for this ad campaign doesn't help it."
AND
"By the way TSW (I know you snoop around our forums), please listen to your community manager and stop creating duplicate accounts - Yes we know you do it, lying isn't gonna help. It isn't fair on us, we don't create duplicate accounts but may have to if this keeps up. ESO does have a much bigger playerbase than TSW but not all of them are going to vote (I hope everyone does, though!)."
However, there are some decent folks on the ESO forums too, saying stuff like:
"I thought ESO was a 18+ game. What are you all doing creating multiple accounts on that site to rig the vote? I would have hoped that ESO players had some form of integrity."
AND
" "Keep in mind we'd thrash TSW with 90% if it weren't for them making super many accounts. It's ridiculous they made more accounts than their whole playerbase count Basically this is the way they beated GW2, sad but true."
Seriously where is your proof of this?
And you know what if their playerbase is so hardcore that they make multiple accounts on a clickbait site that doesn't even matter that much then they deserve to win and more power to them. I voted for ESO but c'mon take the tin foil hat off."
No I don't think the ESO community as a whole is bad, but they sure do have some rotten apples. Blaming TSW fans for making multiple accounts in one sentence then encouraging ESO players to do the same in the next sentence is pretty hypocritical and petty. Not to mention the moderators on the official forums that this stuff is being posted in are not even doing anything about it. I hope most of the ESO fans here are not defending/condoning those guys though I'm sure there are few here on these forums that are perfectly fine with that behavior. If you feel that last sentence was directed to you then you are probably right.

FYI I didn't make that up. Thay's just what I was told by a friend who plays Funcom games.
Hm. This is an excellent oppourtunity to ask a question I have been wondering about since I was in the ESO beta:
Have they added subtitles to ingame narrative sequences?
I remember trying ESO and during the intro escape sequence there was a narrator telling me what was going on. Since I have tinnitus I was unable to make out what was being told to me and every time the narrator spoke it made me very conscious about my disability. I provided feedback asking for subtitles for us with hearing impairments, but I did not see it implemented before I left the beta.
TSW did have some of the same early in the game. But they have added subtitles to all the relevant sections where there is narration during gameplay after getting feedback regarding this from the players. Subs during the cutscenes have always been available.

Well you should substantiate your friends claims before repeating them.
TSW Dev/Community Manager has come out to say this is not true. I assume you are going to make another thread of equal prominence now stating the opposite? If you don't, shame on you.
FYI I didn't make that up. Thay's just what I was told by a friend who plays Funcom games.
Your friend made it up then. And lied to you about it. You should have a talk with your friend about making up stuff about other people. And you should maybe look to yourself in regard to reposting unsubstantiated rumours and slander and defending those rumours and slander when confronted about them.
I think you may owe somebody an apology or two... And your friend definetly owes you an apology for making you look like a lying tool on the internets.

I want to believe you, but unless your friend is despair you're not making a very good case based on all your other drivel.
Either way I won't claim that you're lying, you may be talking the truth but it's not very believable to me.
I've personally not bothered with ESO myself, I really don't want a MMO to ruin my prior experience such as Tortanic ruined Star Wars for me, I'm very fond of Elder Scrolls. I may get myself to try ESO someday but supporters like you are definitely a factor in determining whether others like me will consider subbing for ESO, if you want your game to thrive make it look good opposed to petty.
There is no real reason that TSW should be putting up this big of a fight. Most people haven't even played the game. Considering the massive IP in this fight, I'm actually quite shocked that it's not destroying the competition. I mean, for goodness sake, it's an Elder Scrolls game!
K. Does that mod have subs for all narration or just that which is in cutscenes? My largest problem was when the narrating voice would be talking to me during gameplay (combat, etc) as that makes it very hard for me to pick out the words from the other gamesounds.
"You could call it a psychotic experience, but she was very happy about it," van Os said. "There isn't always a need for care when there's an instance of psychosis."
I play and like both TSW and ESO but several people with new accounts here make both communities look lowest of the low. Some should get permaban from this site imho and personally I'll start to report the worst trolls (especially those claiming that TSW devs are sending mails urging people to come here to vote). You people are just plain disgusting.
Like I said I play and like both. Have LTS in TSW but voted for ESO this time only because it was a hard choice and ESO has some great changes coming in a month time.

Indeed. After a small chat and investigation it turns out it was someone pretending to be Funcom. Sorry for any confusion caused! Next time I'll try to prove rumors before spreading them
ESO is by far the best TES game I've ever played, also I've never liked Skyrim.
However whole game is more of an RPG than MMO (at the moment), and it's for sure the Best mmoRPG on the market.
To put it against TSW however, ESO is miles ahead, in content, quality of content etc. Don't be silly most of people don't even know what TSW is nor have ever heard of it, they are just voting against the most popular games. Some deserved to be popular (ESO did), others didn't (WoW).
Someone even went ahead to compare voice acting between the two games, seriously don't even start, ESO is the best voice acted game ever created (in MMO genre), with the best quests in an MMO. The only other MMO that can compare with ESO on this is SWTOR, others are so far behind it's not even funny anymore.
The fact you don't like Skyrim makes you liking ESO logical. But the rest of your opinions you are passing off as fact make you look silly. Might want to try a different approach if you want people to care about your opinion at all.

You want us to just not participate because Elder Scrolls is a better known brand?
We are not "putting up a big fight". We are simply voting for a game based on our experiences in that game. People that have played TSW tend to find it enjoyable. And that is what the votes are showing.
TSW is a fun game. ESO is also a fun game. Regardless which game wins both games remain fun.
Most people live in China or India. What most people do rarely have any interest for most people though...

The only 'promotion' that I have seen in TSW for the voting has been related to players of the game mentioning it. There was a 30 day buddy key mentioned recently in an email along with an announcement about the ongoing Christmas events, but that is related to the Christmas stuff going on now. I have not seen where there has been any incentive for people voting.
Just vote on what game you enjoy, and which one is what wins.
I could perhaps understand Lotr over eve, but TSW is a bit odd and a bit fishy tbh, there has been very little interest in this game in 6 months, low posts, and the game does not have a huge following. Also interesting that this site has been paid to advertise TSW recently - a coincidence I assume. I don't have anything against the game, and may pick it up to have a look again following this - but Ye something is not stacking up statistically.
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
The cutscenes are what gets the Subtitle treatment. When you turn in a quest for instance, sometimes the npc's *plural* start talking among themselves about what transpired. This was also hard for me to understand and especially to tell who exactly in a group of npc's is doing the talking.
Wykkyd's Full Immersion mod gives not only the subtitles of the cutscenes but gives a name in front of the text. SUPER handy!
The regular quest text is NOT subtitled as its already on the screen.
Random important npc's also have some of their world conversations in the Subtitle box.
The Secret World has some of the best writing in gaming, let alone MMOs, and some of the best VA to boot. It has a unique and thoroughly fleshed out setting with a wide variety of believable, well articulated characters and one of the most engaging character skill systems around.
Whats more, The Secret World is actually challenging, offering a wide variety of different mission types and a thorough lack of hand holding. Players are asked to not only fight, but to think, with well crafted investigation missions that actually require research to complete.
TSW is one of the few games out there capable of managing real horror beyond the most trivial of jump scares, while in the next breath being knee slappingly hilarious.
Simply put, TSW is the complete package, and the fact that a generic fantasy hack and slash is even close to it is a depressing commentary on the industry. I mean, my god, people actually begged them NOT to make ESO.
Eve and TSW both should be blowing the opposition out of the water; Eve for it's limitless player-driven content and TSW for it's stellar writing.

TSW is the top voted game right now just over GW2.... The problem with TSW is not that it isn't a great game, it is more along the lines that it have way too little content so while it have many fans the number of current players isn't that impressive.
ESO do have plenty of content but it's gameplay still needs more work. It do have improved a lot since launch though.

Well, stop spreading false rumours you have no proof for. It's ridiculous.
You're passively encouraging the ESO fanbase to do exactly what you're accusing us of doing, when we aren't.
Well you should substantiate your friends claims before repeating them.
TSW Dev/Community Manager has come out to say this is not true. I assume you are going to make another thread of equal prominence now stating the opposite? If you don't, shame on you.

"You could call it a psychotic experience, but she was very happy about it," van Os said. "There isn't always a need for care when there's an instance of psychosis."
Subtitles are nice to have, but the only way currently to have them in game is using a add-on.
Wykyyd's Total Immersion does a few things you would like.
1. Option to wear/remove helmet when entering/exiting battle.
2. Option to sheath your weapon when exiting battle.
3. Option to show subtitles is also part of the mod.
4. Other options and other wykkyd mods are just as nice to have.
Highly suggest ALL of Wykkyd's Mods...Total Immersion link below.

K. Does that mod have subs for all narration or just that which is in cutscenes? My largest problem was when the narrating voice would be talking to me during gameplay (combat, etc) as that makes it very hard for me to pick out the words from the other gamesounds.

Next time I'll try to prove rumors before spreading them
The fact you don't like Skyrim makes you liking ESO logical. But the rest of your opinions you are passing off as fact make you look silly. Might want to try a different approach if you want people to care about your opinion at all.
?

Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
mmorpg junkie since 1999
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D
