First of all, you are right I have no idea how many votes there are. I might be wrong. But don't make me laugh there is perhaps 10k monthly users on TSW side..I've played it, I know how empty it is..
Its cool, we get it, you like ESO and that is totally fine but I don't quite understand why you seem to have such a bee in your bonnet about TSW and have been spamming this thread and the ESO thread with such fervor. Maybe you should just step away from the keyboard for a bit and just stop and consider how you are coming across to the wider MMO community as a whole.
To be completely honest, one thing you have failed to consider is that this popularity contest just so happens to be at the same time as the Xmas event fortnight and we have seen a huge influx of returning players and as a regular player myself, I can assure you that the servers are reasonably well populated during the time between events and I have no issues getting groups so there is no need to falsely tar TSW as a ghost town with nothing but tumbleweed.
How about instead of throwing accusations and disparaging comments at TSW by the bucket load and hoping that some of it sticks, how about instead you focus on the title you personally prefer and highlight what you consider as the good points and why you consider it your MMO of choice?

Its amusing you have said this as not only is it a case of the pot calling the kettle black, but lets be honest here, you will not be able to help yourself and will continue to rant and rave, spread what ever lies you happen to make up and encourage cheating to combat a perceived conspiracy until the voting is over. Your track record pretty much confirms this, both here and on the ESO forums. As I mentioned in a previous post, you seem to like conspiracies and my offer of a 30 day free pass is still on the table as I think you would enjoy playing an illumanti (you have stated otherwise, but I honestly don't think you have actually played TSW and feel you may have fun despite yourself)
You need to realize that you can enjoy many things, not just one... Myself personally, I enjoy TSW and also enjoy GW2 so the last round was tricky for me, but regardless of my cast vote, I do not like one any more or one any less just because of my choice in this popularity contest. Loving one thing while hating all others to me, makes as much sense as saying "you can like apples OR oranges! you must choose one! you cannot like both!" and no matter the result of this poll, I have my personal preference and will not have my quality of gaming time impacted in a negative way because other people prefer or dislike something else.
Personally, to lay this issue to rest once and for all, I would welcome the MMORPG admins to sift through the cast votes so far and limit the votes to one per IP and that should hopefully take care of any pointless and baseless accusations of cheating because personally, I dislike the idea of being accused of cheating and I feel that my fellow TSW players feel the same (especially when the person accusing us of such behavior appears to not only be encouraging it himself on the ESO forums but appears to be actively participating in this behavior himself)
On a final note, to break up the hilarity of seeing one ESO fan making a dick of himself again and again, I would love to hear from mature and level headed fans of ESO as a workmate has offered to let me play his copy of ESO for a while to check it out and I am interested in other peoples thoughts and would like the assurance that Despair9 is not an accurate reflection of the ESO playerbase.
I am pretty sure the EVE/LotRO communities are /facepalming at this thread so far, but I am hoping that at least some of them are getting a bit of a chuckle out of it.

I mean you don't even have to be genious to know that someone that is either TSW fan or just ESO hater is voting massively, TSW in a fair fight wouldn't even have a chance getting through the 1st round..No need to lie to yourself.. I'd be fine if the community admited they are mass voting, because everyone can see that, you are just ruining your reputation more and more. Also it's fine really, without the mass voting you'd never be competitive, I can appreciate that you have a VERY dedicated fanbase.
I am "acting like a spoiled immature kid"? Really? Can you kindly provide us with some quotes that prove that? Because I'm only seeing posts were I try to be rational? And *you* don't have time for this "bullshit" anymore? Don't make me laugh. *WE* don't have time for this bullshit, not you, you're the one perpetuating the bullshit.
"TSW in a fair fight wouldn't even have a chance getting through the 1st round"
In case you haven't noticed, TSW has been the #1 rated game on this very site for OVER 2 YEARS! Perhaps it is you who are lying to yourself
Yeh, if EQ2 and Warhammer Online had a bastard love child, it was Rift. I can always tell when people entered the genre and on which copied content they base opinions by the little mistakes they make in descriptions of their game experiences. This isn't saying you have, just an expressed thought.
Like M59, calling it an mmo is putting the carriage before the horse. The term was coined by UO's creator, and UO was nothing like M59 except that it was multiplayer, fantasy online. Why aren't we calling Neverwinter Nights the first MMORPG from 91 on aol? M59 was the progenitor of EQ, not so much UO.
Yeah.
Personally, although I was aware of all of those since I'd had a gaming computer since my Atari 400 in 1980, I passed on UO because, frankly, I was pretty well Garriotted, Iolod and VIrtued out by then having played all the Ultimas... and Isometric 2D just didn't cut it for me since this was happening right during the beginnings of the 3D graphics card revolution. I was actually pissed at them because I thought they had done an awesome job with Ultima Underworld (their first person, Elder-Scrolls like Ultima) and I had hoped that would be how their MMO would be done.
EQ appealed a lot to me but unfortunately it didn't support the 3D card I had bought as my first (an ATI Rage of some sort... I forget which) but Asheron's Call did, so that's where I went and then on to DAoC when it launched... been at it ever since

I stopped replying to Despair in this thread after the initial onslaught debunking his lies about TSW vote for mmorpg in email. I don't know if he heard it somewhere or what, which I asked and to which got no reply. For him to still be on some pulpit after that gaffe is... not right.
I don't generally pick on people like... that. But then, these types are the "loud" minority on reddit and similar social media today, greatly influencing the genre with sordid opinion and skewed facts, as well as changing the vocabulary and spiraling the overall public view. These are the people GW2 and ESO were developed to target, because "they" "made" those games, and that's in a nutshell why I avoid reddit and redditors in general in the matter of mmos.
ESO isn't a bad game, it's fun in so been there /done that way. TSW is different which many can't handle (even though people moan about wanting something different).
OMG! What a strange battle we are experiencing here. It is JUST A VOTE. Chill out!
and ofc my 2 cc :
As an experienced MMO player (been around since well .... err.... a dinosaur era) who has experienced both TESO and TSW - I have cast my vote for The Secret World. It is just purely a better game. In most aspects I VALUE (plus it has a way friendlier and more matured community - which also constitutes a positive aspect while commiting own time to sth).
Awnnnn!! How beautiful it is to see the MMO community come out on this exciting season of Christmas, hand in hand, singing carols and being nice to each other. Why do you always have to fight together, it's always a matter of taste and opinion. Here are facts and not opinions:
1) Merdian 59 is the mother of mmos (ni their form today), not UO or EQ.
2) EQ is the father of mmos, it is what brought mmos to the surface and made it possible for any mmo today to exist in our economy, it's the DnD of ONLINE role playing games.
3) UO is the mother (gave birth) to pvp and DAoC is the father (who trained and perfected) of pvp.
4) SWG is the father of popular settings mmos.
5) WoW is the Walmart of mmos, cheap but appeals to the mass market (not necessarily a bad thing).
6) WAR brought the achievement system to the mmo market, which is now a big part of mmos.
7) Guild wars was a great game, but cannot be compared to these other titles because of it's model.
7) ESO, LOTRO, SWOTR, Rift, Guild Wars 2, AoC, Vanguard, TSW, AC, EQII, Runescape, all had some kind of impact on the mmo community but nothing too major. I do not mean to insult any of these games, I actually play most of them, I just mean that they did not change anything about the gaming world.
Now, any other than these above facts is opinion and we live in a world where difference is beauty, so accept the fact that not everyone will agree or feel the same as you do, and embrace the friendly competition and stop fighting.
Happy Holidays everyone (Let the flaming begin!) lol
I'm glad someone else remembers that... and don't forget dynamic events (a.k.a. public quests.) As far as I'm aware that was another first for them.
Additionally, they spiced up the healing game significantly with both the Archmage/Shaman for healing self and others off anged damage dealt and the Warrior Priest/Disciple of Khain for healing off melee damage dealt. Both of those ideas were also adopted by Rift.
WAR doesn't get a lot of respect because many aspects of it were mishandled and it eventually crashed and burnt, but they deserve credit for innovation at least.

I understand where you're coming from, but the MMORPS is massive multiplayer etc., so to me this defines a single server with a massive amount of players playing in the same world and having direct contact with each other. UO did not appeal to as many people as EQ did because EQ felt more alive, had bigger servers, was 3D and you actually felt that you are playing a unique character. As for Neverwinter nights, you have to make a difference between multiplayer and massive multiplayer, NWN and Baldur's gate for example were ''single player'' game you could play online with 4-5 of your friends, that doesn't make them an mmo, it's like FIFA for example, it's a multiplayer game, but it's not an mmo. As for Meridian 59, it is the first mmo as they are today! Even if the term was defined later. Meridian 59 was actually the reason I bought my first ''gamer'' desktop.

I'm just posting to say that I very much enjoy TSW, that I also very much enjoy the comical absurdity of the dedication to the bizarre rumor campaign about TSW dev emails telling players to vote here, and that I wish all of you some happy holidays, or whatever it is you're into this time of year. Personally, I'm into snowshoeing.
I admit my account is new. Some people seem to think this is a crime here! XD This isn't a site I frequent regularly and I never found a need to make an account until this contest came up. Then I wanted to vote for the game I have spent the most time playing since it was released, as well as support the community that enjoy being a part of: TSW!
I played ESO in beta, but couldn't afford buying the game (subscription cost is a bit much when living on benefits), which is such a shame because I did enjoy my time with it. And from the sounds of it, launch and later updates have made it even better. Fantastic!
But I still prefer TSW myself. It is the only MMO I have played to have such a fantastic atmosphere. So many creepy moments! And yet laughs along with. Memorable characters who's quests meant something. And so many more mysteries to still be solved. I love how challenging it is, my first levelling experience involved so much death and experiment and more death, frustrating sometimes but so satisfying when I finally succeed. Maybe it's pvp is lacking dev attention (I only dabble in it very rarely), maybe it's endgame isn't as extensive as other mmos (this is the only mmo I've ever reached endgame in so I have no basis of comparison), and it doesn't run all that great on my PC specs either. But it gives me a fascinating world to explore and learn about, and best of all a community I am proud to be a part of. Community-made chat channels like noobmares, sanctuary and event have turned complex or difficult to organise group content into something even the most timid of players can take part in and be welcomed. My eternal gratitude to everyone involved there!
And I'd also like to say how pleased I am to see Lotro doing so well too! My second favourite mmo, even if I am so casual with it, having never got past Moria in my 3+ years of playing! The Shire always calls me back! Again it's a game I love for the setting and the lore. So many moments stuck in my head: walking up the road to Bag End for the first time, seeing the northern lights flickering overhead while a mammoth stomps past in Forochel, running for my life in chicken play trying to reach Rivendell. Good times, good times!
TESO is a great game. A deep story, epic PvP and dedicted developers who improves the game all the time. The sixth expansion will arrive in january, not bad for a game which is less than one years old.
I would like to state for the record that I voted on monday and only voted once. Also I would like to state that I'm not going to be surprised at all if TSW loses this one. We have had a good run against some good competitors, but I can say for certain that our community doesn't cheat at a contest and that we have won our matches fair and square while having fun.

Wait...
So you are telling me LOTRO is better than EVE ?! ... THAT excuse of "game" is better than the current leading space MMO ?
LOTRO has the graphics of a 2001 single player game and lets not talk about the dull combat system ..
This so called Face-off is nothing but a gathering ground for trolls to troll =_=
God forbid someone has a different opinion than you and your one and only post thus far.
All those angry GW2 fans voting for ESO out of spite.
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D
TSW > ESO any day.
ESO isn't a bad game, it's fun in so been there /done that way. TSW is different which many can't handle (even though people moan about wanting something different).

Wow. At least the thread helped me decide to not bother buying ESO.
Victory for the ESO anti-community, I suppose.

Hey, do you want to know why you should vote for TSW?
Why don't Wendigos eat each other when they get hungry?
Because if they did, they'd all be wendigone!
