Hello!
The person who argued F2P cause low budget mass saturation of games of low quality is correct.
I will provide the proof simply by taking the first 4 MMO on the MMORPG.COM list and comparing them to old EQ zones with Luclin graphics.
Everquest 1, a 15 year old game:
Now the current F2P MMO in an unbiased order. The 4 first from MMORPG.COM
As you can check, they are 2029 Online, 2012 revolution, 2 Moons, 4 Story.
Here are the graphics of those games:
Average F2P game:

Tera is F2P and is arguably one of the best looking MMO's on the market right now.
Rift is F2P and while I don't care for the character models, many of the zones look amazing.
SWTOR is F2P and while the art style is questionable for some, the game does look really nice and is holding up well.
Just a few games off the top of my head but I'm sure there are plenty more examples out there.
4 games = all F2Ps?
those 4 games = the F2P average?
or did you just pick 4 random screenshots you thought were ugly to help your argument?
I will go with the latter.
They were randomly chose, if you read my thread. They are the first MMO by alphabetical order on MMORPG.COM. That makes it average F2P graphics.
Well, 15 year-old EQ graphics aren't "Luclin graphics" and "better" is often a matter of opinion in such art. That said, though, I agree, some. Many games today are "retro" or whatever, and I'm not into it. Some people are, though. I simply cannot play project gorgon, but I think enough of it to recommend it to people who are ok with lesser visual art. I thought EQ2 release graphics were better than WoW and alot of people argued. Soon people will argue EQnext is too cartoony, etc.
I think we're rediscovering the wheel here. Appreciation of artwork in mmos has been discussed to death.
edit: There's a good way to see "15 year old everquest art". Google an everquest dungeon from vanilla and look at the screenshots on Zam pages, like...

Was like, maybe one step up from the original Doom.
Random =/= average.
Here are 3 images from 3 F2Ps that I think look way better.
That hardly looks any better than the images she posted. It looks worse frankly, blocky and unfinished scenery.
I don't think the 3rd 1 looks good.
Now I do not think EQ's graphics are spectacular but they were more than sufficient for me. If I had to sacrifice the graphics to look like EQ to have a game now that is half as good as EQ was.. I would gladly take that. Much better than good graphics and games that are about as enjoyable and in depth as the ninja turtles game for super nintendo 20 years ago.
I disagree but it's not like I spent time looking for the best images. 10 seconds of google search got those, if I actually spent time I could find graphics with AA, SweetFX and a bunch of other enhancements which I ain't going to bother doing.
Do you play Project Gorgon, then?
What game is that second screenshot from?
I can play that game
EQ

GO back and start over is my advice, if this is your argument you really don't have one.

The games are Phantasy Star Online 2, Vindictus and TERA.
That's the point. You going to say they are from a 15 year old game then you should post screenshots from that time, not the updated graphics and areas.
WHo cares when they're from? Most games today have better GFX than EQ even with it's updates. This thread is a joke.

The character update happened in 2001, so that would still be 13 years ago, instead of the claimed 15. Still rather pathetic that someone can link screenshots from that era with better graphics than something released in 2014.
something released on 2014? what is that? what was posted were not released in 2014.
I have logged on it. Would not say I gave it much time though, maybe an hour. By no means did it remind me of EQ. I disliked the UI- I hate having to continuously open and close windows and I hate having to read pop up windows for texts. (I am not the type who cares about the story of the game or doing much reading, in any game I have played I skip through 99.9% of the story... including EQ I just simply looked for the words to say. I did not care for the chat window at all. I did not give the combat system enough time, but what little I did see of it.. I do not think I liked it. I did like the skill idea, but I almost always find myself preferring a level system not just skills. Would prefer a level based system with a more enhanced skill system (than EQ had). I disliked that I could earn NPC favor by logging off.
I am not really looking to play an unfinished game though. Nor do I want to get involved with something that ultimately is temporary beyond the norms of me quitting or the servers shutting down.
From what little I did play the game I would not be interested in playing it any longer until there were many changes. P99 still is way more fun to me.
EQ is a AAA title, how many AAA titles are you going to find with worse "graphics" than EQ in 2014? Pulling some obscure screenshot of some unknown game at random makes no point at all in that respect.. We must also remember graphics are not the art style of a game, it's the engine powering the visuals.

I win. RPG animation from 1983, better than anything since.
I thought the second SS looked pretty good too lol.
