I heard something from the video or read something on their KS that said it's just an initial kickstarter to hire more devs or something.
If it's successful they'll ask for more crowdfunding, or try to get publishers involved for more funding. Personally I think they'd be better off staying away from publishers. They'll crap all over the concept.

I don't know a single good game that came out of kickstarter. The best one would probably be Divinity Original Sin. But they had the game half finished before they went to kickstarter. All the rest has been either really bad, or mediocre.
It all sounds so good and cool that you can do whatever you want, be a store owner, run for mayer, be a police officer, rob a bank, live out in the wild and It's the players who makes and police the world not AI.
We all know it will end in a big fat ganking warzone.
Lets face it, players cant police themselves this day and age, there more gamers who enjoy ganking, trolling, cheating, exploiting, killing than legit players who tries to play other features a game provides so either they take up arms and shoot back or they log off and uninstall the game.

That is the problem. Players cannot keep each other entertained.
I would much rather play professionally produced content, then put in some sandbox and hope like hell that the others will be entertaining. I don't depend on other players for my fun.

Players can keep each other entertained. They do in PvP, in guilds in modding and servers have been policed before, though that did not work well for long in my eyes. Rather than view other players almost as an inconvenience as you seem to do, I see them as what makes multiplayer games the best games there are.

let me put it this way .. i would much rather have professional content than other players entertain me .. in pve games.
In pvp games, obviously they are entertaining as opponents.
There's huge potential for crowd-sourced games, as Star Citizen and Elite have shown. Crowd sourcing is a great way to fund games that aren't just a copy of what did well last season, and even better-- they allow developers to lay out game structures that make sense for the long term rather than filling slots on some quarterly report and established hype machine.
Still, I think crowd sourced games really need to be attached to a name that's proven themselves not just as a game developer, but as a product developer or business manager. We've already seen a few crowd sourced games promised by groups that turned out to be either incapable of delivering, or disinterested in anything beyond cashing the check.
Good luck to the backers and the developers, but I personally wouldn't pledge money to anything so nebulous by people I've never heard of.
They didn't show enough to convince me. Their vid basically showcases UE4 instead of showing us how the game will be.
Sure, maybe those areas shown will be in the game, maybe not. Who knows. Crafting a full scale huge world is different from crafting a small focussed showcase environment.
I do like the ideas, but they are too early in the dev cycle to already cash in. (as others have pointed out: Not even a website yet? Really?)

That they are like every indie game nowadays and don't want a corporate backer with a schedule??
Or a business plan? Or any plan besides raising money.
These kickstarters get away with it because we don't demand documentation of their business plan up front. We need to be better consumers. Raise the bar on them upfront in hopes it will raise the bar on getting a good game.
Good point, waynejr2.

To quote a cliche, there is a sucker born every minute. If some wants to flush their money down the toilet, who am I to stop them?
Originally posted by Sigrand I just want to give this a bump and get it some attention. This game looks like it has some novel ideas going for it and the guys behind it are the one's who run/develop the most popular Arma III Life server. They definitely know what gamers want. They're still early in development but what they have shown, and their plans, look fantastic. It's definitely worth checking out.
Arma what? Life server what?
I'm afraid that is hardly enough to "know what gamers want".
Sounds like vaporware.
ArmA 3 has been in the top 10 most played steam games for a while.
Also, one of the biggest streamer on Twitch daily plays ArmA 3 Life, please don't assume for everyone

I highly doubt it !! Was my reaction aswell..

I can't believe a game that shows 0 gameplay actually managed to get $31,000. It's just some renders of some building that you can make in sketchup.

Seriously, they don't even have a built website. I think developers should at least have a website before being allowed to post on KS.

Star Citizen got many times that before the hangar module was even set up.
It was also started by a developer known for much more than modding.
