The Black Desert Online team made up of Daum & Pearl Abyss is ready to show off some of the game's PvP features. In the latest video to be released, large scale PvP is spotlighted. Check it out and let us know what you think.
Not so good. If thats how you can take down walls and keeps, I would not take a second look at this. I hope thats something they work out. Combat looks ok, watching them play reminded me very much of GW2, movement and art that is.

I think old school Lineage 2 players might not mind as players could help take down walls (not a lot of that) and doors with their weapons.
I think it was a way to engage everyone otherwise people would be standing around waiting for the siege equipment to do their thing.

Help is one thing, taking down with a sword and arrows alone should take so long it should not be worth doing.

I haven't looked at this video yet but in L2 it did take longer unless you had a siege golem.

Really should watch it. Other MMO I have played let you help smack down walls but watching a keep not only be taken down by swords and arrows, but watching it poof in a cloud of smoke looked really dumb.
If any old weapon can damage structures, thats bad. Without weapons like sledge hammers and proper siege weapons that gameplay will suck. The whole challenge of breaching and taking other players keeps and castles should be the transportation of said weaponry to destroy the enemies castles.

I just watched it and it didnt' look laggy or choppy at all.
Having said that, there seem to be a lot of skills that allow players to "zip"/teleport to various places so I can see that giving a sensation of "choppy".
I was surprised how smooth everything was with all that was going on.
The pvp looks like any large scale pvp in quite a few asian games. Heck, maybe a few western games as well.
Though I'm excited for this game (except for the stupidity they like to add such as pumpkin helmets and fighting with flowers) it could do with fewer effects for my taste. Sometimes less is more.
I'm not a fan of having players take down structures with arrows but I understand why it's there.

To much fluff just like my Guild Wars 2. Can't stand that about GW2.
The fluff just gets in the way. Enough with the flashy lights and giant kabooms for crying out loud. Would love a game where I can actually see what I'm doing in Large Scale PvP
Looked like a bunch of poor sods having a seizure, while being shot by arrows and explosives. Didn't look much like an actual fight, to be perfectly honest. There also seemed to be basically no siege mechanics, for a video showing of (what I'm assuming to be) some form of siege warfare.
Asians will never escape their arcade game play,it is still too fast, animations too fast, archer is firing too fast,i doubt even has ammo just auto ammo. The zippping around of players i never liked that ability to dart in,looks silly and fake, but i can see how they are forced to do it since they give archers and casters machine gun like firing.
Good note i did see some archers up top firing down for some z-axis which we almost never see in a rpg.
PVP meh, couldn't care less about it,why create a world and have any game play if all your doing is pvp?Even so all we saw in video was a MESS,no co-ordination no actual group mechanics, just a bunch of players literally spamming non stop.
I could see it working for those that like pvp IF you control it to a set area.I am thinking like Lineage did where you attack castles,it sort of keeps players in that area not to bother pve.
I have actually had people tell me before i am so old school, gaming is not about strategy anymore.Well i beg to differ strategy has nothing to do with old school it has everything to do with pvp.If there was REAL death even if fake in a game, nobody would run right out in the open and start spamming at each other, there would be strategy, planning ect ect.

Chip away at stone with steel or greater in a fantasy world and it will eventually tumble (enchanted and rare metal stuff especially). Though I'd imagine that would either dull or break an iron or steel sword before long, which would be horrible when it comes to gameplay versus reality. Not sure what arrows could do honestly, but I suppose it's just for balance sake. Would be nice if there were sledge hammers or something that had siege damage.
They should've shown more than simple cannon fire as a means of taking down a keep. But at least laying siege is a mechanic that is in there.
Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing). German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century. Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now). I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things). In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while. If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.
Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this. If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own. Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis. Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.
Only thing I was looking at was how the game performed under the stress of large scale pvp and it was smooth. Took me back to the old days of Lineage 2 castle sieges. My only fear with this game is that it will be a game people can hit level cap in a short amount of time. I want my long progression back!

This is what large scale PvP looks like in every game that has it...
It just so happens that BD didn't care to make some sassy "scripted" video, e.g., Age of Conan, ArcheAge, SWTOR, etc.
All large scale PvP looks stupid when it's not scripted / edited for video.

Agreed. This is how every large scale pvp battle looks, when there's no organization. The video editing is really bad though.

Not really sure what to make of that video tbh.

The visuals are nice, though, i suppose.

Actual player POV looks a tad different. Good or bad, depends on the individual obviously.

I played this game already... Nothing new here IMO.
No Strategy, just a big zerg fest.
Also, I am tired of seeing the toons use the same attack they use against another player, used against a Stone wall... Are we every going to progress?
I predict this will be the next game bcully touts as being the greatest game ever. I'm calling it now.
