If you've decided that Gw2 is not for you, what the fuck are you doing commenting in a Gw2 thread unless you are troll baiting?
There are at least 10 points that are wrong with your statement, but you are not worth my time to explain. #NoTrollBaits
Im just saying- this expansion better turn the world up side down- otherwise the game stay still shit as it is. And if you played GW1 before you would understand.
Bad news for you is that there's more people that don't want to see the world turned up side down, than the ones that do wanna see it. Clearly GW2 is not the game for you so you should stop hoping it ever will be and just leave it to those that enjoy it. Simple as that. I have 3000 hours clocked into the game, still have plenty of things to do. Hell I even have ppl in our guild that clocked 9k hours into the game, so I guess not everyone finds "everything pointless".
And for those that think it's a Living World episode to be sold in gemstore - wake up:
1. They wouldn't register a trademark for that.
2. Even Anet doesn't have the balls to do that.
You can rest assured it's an expansion. If it's not you can come right back here and flame me, but I doubt I will ever read it anyway
So you publish a column titled "An Expansion, Finally!"
And then follow it up with an article wanting this to be the big announcement, but really isn't yet? You announce the expansion in the title, then take it back in the column? Didn't we just see something like this in the ESO forums recently?

I did play Gw1, all campaigns. Gw1 is completely different game and not nearly as fun.
I mean sure if you are 50 years old, spamming spacebar for attack almost turn by turn attack MIGHT BE fun.
Other than that and outside of lore, Gw1 can't hold a candle compared to Gw2.
Go back to Gw1 board...oh snap! Its kinda dead isn't it. I suppose you are the vocal minority. Move on and troll less. Gw1 is still around.
Arenanet- you fooled me once you wont wont fool me twice.
It doesnt matter if they add new classes, new races
It doesnt matter if they add new quests
It doesnt matter if they add new dungeons
The problem is in the core. IF they add more of that above- it wont change the game either how boring and disgusting the concept is.
"Everything you do, feels pointless in that game" THats the feeling i always got playing it. Thats why i stopped after 1 month and never looked back.
They can add as much content as they want- if i still have to chose of this shitty skillsystem -shitty stat system-shitty pvp, then i give a damn about this game.

GW1 is around yes but 2 old and they stopped supporting it. Also i dont have the copy anymore. I dont know what your talking about. GW1 was more deep in every aspect.
You compare GW1 skill system to this? You just spam shits on GW2 evading here and there. Try that in GW1- that game will brainfuck you if you try to use those simple decisions youre used to make in GW2. GW2 is so easy that they had to nerf the droprates to make it more *engaging* for the diehard fanbase.
A Elementalist had aroudn 150 skills. Thats just 1 class. GW1 had dual class system. You couldnt ask for anything more. GW2 on the other hand - i can count those skills on 10 fingers. And where is GUILD WARS?and you spam that shit from lvl 10 to 80. PLS. GW2 is only superior in terms of graphics, infrastructure, puzzles and astehtics .
If they would release GW3 the same would happen to GW2 like it happend to GW1. The population will shift and many will quit.
GW2 cant hold a candle to GW1. Maybe you should take off those pink tainted glasses of yours.

And in GW1 PvE you pretty much just spam shit as well.
150 skills and the best PvE Elementalist build was Ether Renewal prot (a very spammy build). Other than that of all the Elite skills Mind Blast and Searing Flames were somewhat useful. That or use the Assassin's promise + YMLD+Sin support+ Finish Him that every single caster could use.
All those skills reduced to a 1 strong build and a few subpar ones.
And as if the drop rates of GW1 haven't been nerfed to hell, especially UW ecto drop.
That kind of talk might fly with someone that didn't play GW1 for thousands of hours but not with veterans.

when/if ANET confirms HoT is an expansion i can safely yell at them to shut up and take my money. Hopefully they can sell it from the Black Lion trade market the same way they sell the game edition upgrade. That is pretty convenient.

You remind me of those who have been complaining for the last 10 years that WoW is a disgrace to the Warcraft franchise.
I loved the way Guild Wars expansions were introduced. Standalone campaigns within the same game's universe. It was perfect, like new chapters in a story and you were not forced to play them in any specific order if you jumped in later in the game(I only started playing when Nightfall was released).
GW2 has been very disappointed to me as far as storytelling. I admit they have improved with season 2 of the LS, but it just lacks the grand scale feeling of Guild Wars.
I really hope that at the very least with this new update, expansion, addon..whatever it ends up being, that they really continue on improving their story. Obviously, new toys, classes, races, skills, etc will be fun...but in the end the story of Guild Wars and its characters is so wealthy it would be a shame to miss the target with deliverance.

How in the name of sweet baby jesus could you clock 3k hours into that game, much less 9k. I clocked ~4k hours into EQ1 in the span of 3.5 years, when i was 16-20 ish, most of it wasnt working and basically had no responsibilities. And that was one of the best MMO's ever made. Clocking 3k hours in GW2 literally sounds like torture to me. I got about 150 hours into it before i had explored everything, done every quest on every continent, spent about 10-15 hours doing "open world pvp", or castle trading, cus thats what it really was.
Don't get me wrong, the world is beautiful, some of the underwater stuff was fun, a lot of the puzzles were fun. But, three THOUSAND hours?!?!?!?!!!!

Gw1 comes down to few cookie cutter builds where it counts. You can say it had millions of skills ... one a few of them were actually useful. Gw1 doesn't even have a dodge. And if Gw2 is so easy, you are welcome to get your uber guildmates and try the harder world bosses, or Arah or aetherpath. Or you know, any of the 40-50 fractals. True they have been dumbed down a little bit because most of the community can't keep up, but that alone speaks volumes. There is difficulty in GW2 and only a stupid person would deny that. It is one thing for the game to be forgiving and finish a dungeon in an hour, its another if you build right and finish that said dungeon in 10 minutes. No need to restart the whole thing. Gw2 takes a whole different approach here. And judging by the popularity of the game, its for the better, whether you like it or not.
Yeah because warrior/ranger was totally viable in Gw1 xD. Having dual class capabiltiy is not always a good thing. Which brings me to my previous point that there are a set amount of cookie cutter builds and everything is just .... a chore.
As I said, I do agree that Gw1 has a more epic story. However, things are improving in Gw2 with season 2 and hopefully with the expack. The storytelling gets better and better with many plots and twists.

If good, I have no problems to pay. My problem is after enjoying for long that I really do not like "innovative" questing. Much better old good questing hubs and linear progressing. At least for me.
Scaled dungeons: 1 to X players. It will stop almost robot players saying: "LGM Only pros" "Fast Paths" and this kind of mechanical raids. I want to have fun in dungeons even I have to play solo.
Bosses with real drops, not that bullshit you could get everywhere.
Real chances to drop good things. Playing since day 1 I could not get anything good.
Less garbage droping.
Improved crafting. There is no point to craft anything.
Rebalance servers. Our server is massacred by huge zergs everytime in WVW.
Rebalance pvp: there are players that kill others using 1 or 2 hits. Ok if they were glass canon, but you use all your skills and merely take some health of them.
Not very important to me but:
New classes, new skills, new races, new maps, new quests, new achievements, rebalance pvp, new pets for rangers, A downloadable guide for people who buy the expansion.
Sounds like you want a content update or a patch to me.
Originally posted by Yubei Its not F2P game its B2P. Therefore expansion wont be for free. Deal with it
I can't be so sure of that. They've been pretty committed to making content free ( for better or worse), and this may not be different. I would hypothesize it'll be a timed window release that will be purchasable afterwards, much like the latest LS series. Given the track of record, I don't see this being a traditional expansion. They've been anything but. Time will tell.

I'll buy it in a heartbeat, if it is indeed one.
It also seems to me that the "anti" crowd is a well articulated, thorough and mature crowd. They will be sorely missed in GW2.
