What would suddenly make you say "No thank you" to Crowfall?

This game has really caught my interest. There are so many aspects of the game that have not been revealed (intentionally). Community discussion seems to be key to their development process, so I'm curious about this: what could Crowfall announce about their game that would make you suddenly go, "Nope!"?

    I am generally pretty level headed and not a victim of hype BUT this time it has me by the yarvels! With the current Dev team and their vision for Crowfall, I don't think there is anything that will stop me from playing.

    PvP with Perma Death, or PvP with full Loot. I enjoy PvP, but I don't feel full loot is necessary to enjoy a fun PvP game. I would hope and expect if they do have PvP that they just do a full open World PvP with a few restricted zones like they did in Vanilla WoW, I do not want to see Battlegrounds, arena's, or PvP scenarios. To me that is just the poor man's way of doing PvP. I get that there is an audience that likes it, but for me it left a bad taste in my mouth when I played WoW.

    I am all for the things that they've revealed so far, but I don't think they truly understand where the games that went before them went wrong.

    I doubt anything would keep me from trying it out, but what will keep me from playing it long term will be if the game doesn't offer anything outside of pvp and crafting.  They need to make a living breathing world, and that means PvE.  Without it, Crowfall is using the same formula for failure thats been used for the last 10 years.

    I want a good pvp game, but most players want more than that too (even if they don't know it).  If they can't create a game with depth and niches within their sandbox, it won't stand the test of time.

    this would be an instant No Thanks for me. Also, if the game happens to be top down isometric (like Diablo) then I still expect WASD as a movement option or its also a No Thank you. Havent heard anything about this game  but it has some good talents behind it. Ill keep an eye on it.

    I agree with Dullahan.  Make the game more than just PvP.

    I'm all in for the crafting aspects of Crowfall (Koster!) and would love a more open world to explore but if I can't move for being ganked or all I'm doing is PvP because that's all the game's community is after then it's a dealbreaker for me. 

    I want a fully realized world that allows me to enjoy things other than PvP.  I hope the devs for Crowfall take a long look at Wildstar and note what happens when you focus on a small, rabid, niche market and think it will support a game.

    Every game needs a wide swathe of players and a diverse base.  You can't keep a game afloat with one player type.  And I have no interest in playing a PvP only, build a house for some 13 year old to randomly torch, can't gather mats or explore because I'm constantly attacked by other players type of world. That's not fun for me.

    I'm rather tired of the uninspired names affixed to MMOs these days. Crowfall? Really? I go through a list of MMOs here, and 90% of the names lack any sort of imagination, nor capture the imagination. It's as if the devs just used the first draft name that came to them.

     

    This may be a shallow observation, but so be it. So many MMOs out there, I can afford to be choosy.

    like i said in another thread ..iv gotten to the point that  if it looks like a turd and smells like a turd well its a turd..so ima stay away from this one too..these grafix follow in the line of wow / wildstar / allodds / eqn  / lol / free realms and the list goes on n on i dunno why devs / companys decide on these cartoony grafix  ..dunno if its a certain crowd they are trying to appeal to or just trying to save money but i for one am not falling for it this time

    iknow grafix dont make a game but come on it 2015 ..lets see some effort..all they are doing is recycling grafix and re-tweaking some settings her / there..so from the "looks" of it , its already a "no thank you"

    Been burned by the hype before so nothing the say/show or do will get me super hyped.  I will wait and see how things turn out.  Maybe try for beta to get a good idea of how the game will be, that will help in getting me excited or not.

     

    Also can people say ESO, Wildstar, Archeage.....  All had a lot of hype and look what happened.  Sure they all are still up but the all got hit hard with people leaving.  Sorry hype is the worst thing for a game because no game will ever live up to the hype that comes out.

    I completely agree that graphics are important, but if a game is being developed by a small indie studio would that make a difference if the game ended up being solid? (Just curious)

    Lack of polish.

     

    That is the one thing missing from all other games of the type. All other games had way to many exploits, bugs, and systems that weren't thought out completely and tested.... Indie companies run out of funding.

     

    I'll actually not say "No" to it even if it's buggy, but it will not survive and I will probably not play for too long if it is way too unpolished.

    If it's F2P, I would be out. I can deal with most other things if the game is made well. It can be lacking in graphics, but not to an extreme.....what we've seen so far is good with me.

    I'm excited to learn more about this one. Huge shadowbane fan.

    I've already said no because I normally don't do Indie Games.  What should be put in is what would make you play the game and my list would be the same as it has been for several years.

    1. Open World
    2. Exploration Centric
    3. Detailed lengthy quests in the vain of Asheron's Call
    4. Segregated PvP PvE servers
    5. Lengthy progression system that takes months to reach cap
    6. Game play is based on progression rather then endgame
    7. Action Combat or fast paced Tab Target, if its slow like FFXIV then I'm out.
    8. F2P or B2P, Subscriptions suck and I'll never play another one.  It's 2015 not 1999.
     

    Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

    Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!

    Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!

    The graphics are not like WoW or Wildstar. Notice on the 3 released characters how the models are all proporitonally shaped as if they were modeled realistically? The only reason why you think they look like WoW or Wildstar is the stylistic paint style that covers them and the lack of in-game shadowing.

    EQN looks more disproportionate than Crowfall at the moment, but until we see the animations we won't know for sure. If the animations are cartoony then the realistic model shapes won't matter.

    The game has the SWG/SW:TOR producer and other AAA devs. I don't know if I'll call them Indie...

    I just don't understand an open world PvP game with PvE added.  How will questing even be possible?  Just allow players to flag themselves for PvP .

    PvE != questing

    PvE refer generally to mobs in the world that create dangerous or storied environments.  Its NPCs that give life to the world in the absence of players.  They can be used in numerous ways (including quests), but I don't think when people here talk about PvE they want to see hub quests and some sort of linear progression.

    The ignorant PvP crowd now scream heresy as they misinterpret what I'm saying to mean I think the world should become a loot driven economy vs crafting driven economy.  That is not the case though, you can do either (or both).  They also interpret this to mean everyone must be grinding mobs for rare drops, but thats not the only way to use mobs in an MMO.  Powerful PvE factions can also be used to protect rare materials, rare crafting components, rare schematics and designs as well as items and currency.  These factions don't necessarily have to be hostile, they could even be friendly.  To get something from them you could gain reputation with them (*the "hardcore" pvp nerd's eyes just crossed as he enters a state of blind rage and won't read be able to read the following statements).  For instance, perhaps they want you to do something for them.  Perhaps there are other factions that are enemies that they want you to raid, but get this, maybe one of their enemy factions is a player clan.   You can then choose to slaughter these NPCs to gain whatever they have, or help them.  Thats just the tip of the iceberg of how a good developers could use PvE and in so doing, make the game world more immersive and compelling.  Plus, pve content also provides players with something to fight over - content.  Instant pvp hotspots.

    Actually what I've seen so far seems to pretty good but I'm not going hype myself up about it until I see the actual game and gameplay. Even then , I'm going to be a little cautious.

    This could end up being very interesting.

    Open world pvp with full loot is a no go for me. Too bad, it's got an awesome team!
