Wow necros with greatswords! Looking forward to it. However there's always been this strange thing with guild wars 2 and I don't know if it's because of the animations, graphics, or gameplay (questing) but I just can't seem to get immersed. I even find that Tera, in spite of all of it's uninspired horror that is its questing system, is more immersive than guild wars 2. That said I love new things and I love new things more when they're applied to a solid foundation. I'll be keeping an eye on it!

Atleast its a start. I am sick to stomach with living stories. Wouldn't be prudent to release bucket loads of skills and weapon choices all at once. Balancing all those skills and weapon is no easy task one of the main reason why Anet decided to ditch GW skill system. Anyone who played GW for years and was active in PVP knows the drama on forums every single day and nerfing / fixing cycle of skills. it was a nightmare for devs i can imagine. Not to mention hundreds if useless skill which are useless even today.

I've read also a new area; "a big new Maguuma Jungle area packed with group content, stories and bosses."

and finish unless the depart from what they've done for the past 2 1/2 years. For me, being able to change up my play style is very important. Once I reach the skill cap for a certain style I need to find a new one for new challenge. If I can't do that I get bored. It doesn't matter how many new maps there are.

When GW2 gets bashed to the ground and re-releases, maybe they would release an expansion faster after sucn an incident.

Yes, it's not like my point is extremely valid, heh.

There is difference between making a valid point and rubbing into everyones face just to be obnoxious. You have been doing this  a lot lately.

Anyways you are not baiting me into FFXIV vs GW2 nonsense. So i will just pay no attention to you.

Final Fantasy is a WoW Clone so that game will never change because the core game is designed around quest hub fex ex leveling. I did not even know it got an expansion till I just read him say it and I am sure all it brought to the game is more of the same because it cant do anything new.

Games like Guild Wars 2 can evolve and develop new systems because the core game is built around exploring the world and giving players options at how they progress and build their characters. I would feel ashamed to talk about a game that it unique and different with no monthly fee when I am paying a monthly fee to play the same old same old WoW style of mmo.

For the reference, I think that FF-AAR is a really nice game. However, commenting with a sarcastic and yet offensive comment just to start drama when the two games have totally different circumstances is purely annoying in my opinion.

i for one have maxed ascended gear and quit until they decided to come out with some content worth playing

but for me i think im done with this title..for ME i think gliders / mount is a bad idea for this type of game, gw2 for ME was about exploring / running around , its what made ppl interact together n work together and made it fun

also was really looking forward to hopefully seeing a new race like maybe some of the races that they use in game..maybe they will come out with this in 3 more years who knows..sry i dont think i can do gw2 because this seems like more glitter than glam imo so ill pass

this is more like a band-aid over a gushing wound

    Awesome, new content!

What I've realized is that Anet could announce that they are giving away free money and everlasting life, and people would still bitch.

That's what I hope it is, looking at the theme it looks bad ass to me, and could be my main if it is.

I do like the idea of new weapons per class. Would love to see a sword elementalist (sword main hand)  kinda gandalf-esque.

I was actually really close to getting my legendary this month... but I think I might wait for the release of other legendaries and also I'd really like to see what the new weapons per class are as I might want to even change what type of weapon I create.

The new class... definitely worth it.. the only thing I'd like to see that they didn't announce is paid race changes.  Even if it starts over the story for a character,  I'd really like to see that happen.

Otherwise, it should be a good expansion.  Looking forward to it.

I totally disagree. WoW clones do not change. If they did the genre would not be going away from that style and more toward open Sandbox style of games. Any game built around linear quest hub progression will always be just that. I have not seen one change yet.  All they will ever do is add more of the same like new zones, bosses and instances. That's a /yawn to me everyday.

About time engineers got some love minions and hammer sounds interesting.  Do we know what ranger druid skills are based on?  Would like shapeshifting ideally.  Guild halls have been something my guildies have wanted for a long time.  Whether I buy the expansion and start playing the game regularly again probably depends on the mastery system and whether it will produce meaningful choices for advancement beyond 80.

shapeshifting prob. not imo seeing that rangers can pump dps soo fast with bow ..its prob. a followed treeline of some sort that gives you that title followed with using a specific weapon skill ..but thats just a guess tho

Then you totally ignore that many themeparks do just that, by creating new areas to change up the typical story formula. WOW (as well as others) are full of it. Some are more open (oldish style wow), some are more closed and treadmill focused, essentially based on whichever game they wanted to emulate in their focus for that zone.

Linear in this sense is a narrative... at least what you're referring to. Which is what GW2's world focus lacks, they save it for solo play mostly. That is really the only major difference between GW2 and just about any other theme-park. General game-play remains the same. Collect or kill x amount of y... Your goals are still predefined. Which is what separates a real sandbox from Gw2...It's not anymore player driven than any other themepark. On top of that just about their entire update focus has been on offering more narrative.

I'm neither a fan of FF or WOW, but you're highly overselling GW2 over them here.. That's nothing new when it comes to GW2 though, or the original.

Glad to see secondary professions of sorts with the existing professions.  Guild Halls are nice, but I'm still waiting for personal housing.

Gives me hope we'll see other locations in the future, such as Cantha and Elona.  In addition to new professions or races.

Sorry just got home and trying to catch up on the news. Didn't they say that the Tengu were going to be a new playable race?

I liked the maturity of this expansion- Anet knows the time invested in armor and character progression- gone are the days of tier items= i welcome this!!!!

they know how cookie cutter expansion have been in the last 6-8 years, they want to change that!

    very smart move!

would hope they had more zones or climates in  this expansion. we all know how well ctatclysm went with just lava....

    <.<

overall well done Anet- well done!

I agree totally. I hate leveling from 70-80, 80-85, blah, blah. I'm excited to see what they have planned for progression.
