With 51% of the vote Marvel Heroes 2015 wins! Well deserved. MH is simply one of the best MMOs out there and have an amazing community and dev/publishing team!
The future is looking extremely bright for this great game!
As a matter of fact, almost the entire group of people hyping MH have less than 10 posts.
You guys understand that you're not helping your game, correct? No MMO player is going to drop their game to play yours especially after you just trolled their end of the year awards.
First, I have more than one post.
Second, I'm not sure what your point is. MMORPG allows new users to vote, that wasn't our decision. This poll is obviously a popularity contest designed to draw hits to the site. It worked.
Third, I could agree with you that MH is not an MMO. In that vein, I don't really regard GW2 as one either. Once again, though, it was MMORPG that decided it was, not us.
Marvel Heroes is a great game that spans the bridge between ARPG and MMOs. It has an enthusiastic fan base that got out and voted it in. I'm sorry that bothers you.
Originally posted by Tracho12 I would dare say that 99% of the votes for MH came from people who have never accessed this site before this 'contest' and will never access it again.
You'd be wrong.
This site has had "random hero giveaway" promotions in the past, so it is a safe bet that every Marvel Heroes player that has been playing for very long HAS been here before. But, considering the community here is obviously not very supportive of the game apparently...it is of course no wonder they have not actively participated here. I am a long term member who has long since stopped coming here regularly for the same reason.
Sorry the game YOU liked won't win, but crying over it makes you look just as bad as you are claiming the Marvel Heroes fans are. It's called being a "sore loser", sure you have heard the term. And it's a pitiful way to behave.
I don't disagree with you that MH is not really an MMO, even though I play it and thoroughly enjoy it. But it was one of the poll choices, making it a valid vote. You have a problem with that you should take it up with the sponsor of the poll, not cry about the people who enjoy the game and therefore voted for it or the people who developed the game.
You are also wrong about it "not helping" the game. After MH won the most improved MMO of 2014 there was a very large influx of players into the game due to the publicity, as well as quite a few returning players. I imagine the same will be true of this publicity.

Have you played GW2? How is it not an mmorpg? Just wondering

I wouldn't call MH the best MMO of the year, but it is extremely good. Its elevation from a game I loathed to one I've spent more money than I care to admit on is nothing short of spectacular, and Gazillion deserves every bit of praise it gets.
Taking a break from it until either achievements or the new team-up system (yes, another complete overhaul to add customization and complexity, for free!) is released, but you can be damn sure I'll be playing another thousand or so hours, and probably buying every single hero or team up pack they shove toward me.
BTW, Captain (formerly Ms.) Marvel rules!
AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!
We are born of the blood. Made men by the blood. Undone by the blood. Our eyes are yet to open. FEAR THE OLD BLOOD.
I voted WL2 because of my affinity for the original, and the sequel was a solid old school RPG.
And I voted MH. Why? Because its fun. Because it gets better all the time. Because it keeps me coming back, nearly every day, even when I don't intend to play. Because its devs provide the best community, best feedback and best communication I've ever seen in any sort of game. Because its F2P model is fair and generous. Because the other games listed don't meet all of these criteria.
If you haven't played it recently, give it a shot. Its worth your time.

Yes, and I enjoyed it. GW2 is more heavily instanced than I would consider a classic MMORPG. Vanguard better fit the model I would have liked.
That being said, GW2 and MH are calling into question the entire definition of MMORPG, as this thread indicates. I am happy with them both being called MMORPG, and am not going to advocate for my position.
Just logged into MH's forums and the game itself and now I understand why the community voted this much, it's not because _as they kept bragging about- their love for their community, it's because the devs are giving ingame items for people to go vote hahahaha!
I'm new to the game, just downloaded it today, and I am disappointed by their lack of professionalism.
Please tell, what dev stated there would be any gifts given for votes? If you want to be taken credibly, you could even post the link to the forum thread it was made. Once you do that, I'll post the link where the devs specifically said there would be no give aways if they win, as that would be cheating.
From the player to the developers to the game, MH is winning because the developers have interest in the players of the game.
They have so much interest in how players feel, they have taken a role in informing 'us', 'them' how to get involved with VOTING for a "PLAYERS CHOICE" award.
I am only 2 days into MH 2015 and truly see the depth of the game in just a few hours of play...I'm excited about my new career there.
I'm a long term user of MMORPG. There are many reasons to be here but I personally feel that one good reason is enough. MMORPG has been my info-center on MMO and RPG news. I have spent a lot of well spent dollars based on what MMORPG does best for my needs.
From my history, I've vented here a lot in hope that developers might read what players really want. Instead, the gaming industry has taken a nose-dive to flash sales. Every chance I get, and this is a chance, I utter a word or so about how poor developer-to-player relations caused a great idea like DARKFALL to DARKFAIL.
MH deserves to win if the MH community/developers are smart enough to find the huge-ass VOTE button.
It is, after all, a players choice.
If your MMO/RPG is so great then step up your game and POST something in the GAMESITE forum and quit whining that MH Playerbase is better than yours... oh... wait... it is!
<Insert Troll Here>
Regardless of all this hate on the polls, MMORPG is still the host. I would not pass up a week without coming to my favorite website with or without a POST. There are exceptions to all things in life. MH 2015 is the exception to gone and forgotten because the developers committed the community to winning.
In fact, go ahead and take your voting away. It won't affect my support of the game.
