Full loot. So.... I guess what you mean is that when I'm stuck in a window talking to an npc or something, some pack of scuzzmonkeys that are each twice my level ambush me and steal all my gear.
Is that about it?
Yeah, no thanks. Not only does that kind of stuff piss me off, it also makes a very difficult field for any new players/characters due to them being nothing more than gank-fodder for the griefers that would rather loot people weaker than themselves than go find a monster or even a fair fight much less a quest/mission of some kind.
Encouraging ganking that also serious Fs over the other player will not encourage interest or retention with most people.

If you are going to waste your time posting about a game, might as well actually look into it before making conclusions.
Will have different worlds (servers) with different rules, looting being a big part of that. At the same time, loot/gear won't be BIS themepark crap that you have to farm for a month to get most likely. Crafting is vital. Campaigns will have a start/finish allowing even playing fields at least for the start, which will be happening over and over.
They seem to be making it into something that would avoid the situations/issues you are bringing up. No game is perfect or for everyone, no illusion of that here. But it isn't log in and get instant ganked over and over by vets without any chance.
If you or anyone can't handle a competitive play style that involves conflict with other players, move along. Many of us want it and not for mindless killing for the lulz.
I wonder if people get upset when they lose in a game of RISK or Clash of Clans or whatever strategy game. Winning becomes much more rewarding when there is actually a chance of losing. Losing and then overcoming odds is a great experience. The mentality that "everyone's a winner" for logging in is not exciting to all.
Kyleran: "Now there's the real trick, learning to accept and enjoy a game for what

John Henry Newman: "A man would do nothing if he waited until he could do it so well that no one could find fault."
FreddyNoNose: "A good game needs no defense; a bad game has no defense." "Easily digested content is just as easily forgotten."
LacedOpium: "So the question that begs to be asked is, if you are not interested in
the game mechanics that define the MMORPG genre, then why are you
playing an MMORPG?"
Its not a game breaker but I really hate gender locking. I think thats just lazy development.
Yup, definitively setting up a story, lore and background in pre alpha design state where one race/class will be gender locked. Very likely that the reason is the developers are lazy and just wants to save a few hundred dollars.
I never understand people that complain about gender locked stuff. Your a guy, you cant have a vagina, at least not a proper one.
They say it is a game of consequence, so if you decide to pick the race that kills off all their males because that is their culture, well you picked it.
It aims to be a PvP game but it is made by people from shadowbane and wiz101. One was a flop mmorpg that had a terrible launch and quickly died out after being unplayable in quality. One is a game best suited for child development, which is awesome for what it is, but is not great for adult pvp mmorpg.
It also has the guy behind UO-trammel on it, not something that PvPers look fondly upon.
People learn from their mistakes, and some of these guys have been in the industry for a long time, but their track record with pvp success is not great.
Now you can disregard all of that if you wish, but in the end the game still has very little to show about what it actually is (big reveals coming in a couple of weeks) but even then it probably won't have gameplay footage yet.
Now anyone that is an intelligent mmo veteran knows better than to get hyped after all the bs we've been fed for the last decade+.
Nope, EA is an Industry Leader. ArtCraft Entertainment is not.
3. Already in a playable state and its only been "known" for about a month* - Check
Yet no one can play it or has seen game play footage.
4. Will be a real game and not another kickstarter or Rust "Pre-Alpha"** - Check
Speculation at best.
5. Raph Koster and Warden - Check
Big names are neat, but does not guarantee success, it never has.
So what exactly is it about that game that should me get so hyped? I know nothing about it, the website is horrible and full of the usual Kickstarter type nonsense with no real substance.
Now anyone that is an intelligent mmo veteran knows better than to get hyped after all the bs we've been fed for the last decade+.
Here's my logic, it's a game. Anyone that forgets that and starts getting too emotionally attached, probably has bigger issues going on.
Despite almost 20 years of online gaming experience, I still get excited and look forward to upcoming products.
CF looks and sounds good at the point. That could change after the clock runs out, beta, release, after a month, year, whatever.
Until I see something that makes me run for the hills, I'll keep positive. Honestly doubt anyone on here needs advice from the peanut gallery about being hyped up or not. Live and learn.
I've learned that no game will ever be perfect for me or completely live up to my imaginary expectations. I'm fine with that. Doesn't mean I don't want to be surprised and have a product turn out to be enjoyable. While I take the glass half empty approach with many things in life, gaming is not one of them.
The team behind CF doesn't have a spotless record, but they do have a lot of good tries. Hopefully they can put out something that works better this time around, again, live and learn.

This team could give Blizzard a run for their money with talent alone.
This is silly. Blizzard never had any big talent of intelligent designers behind them. Their entire business model was to basically just copy EverQuest, except with a bigger budget.
And that's why this game will not topple WoW. No game will. WoW is an outlier. Niche is where MMO thrive, and Crowfall knows that.
I'm sure it has nothing to do with them putting a new twist on the same tired design. I hope the best, but I expect the worst, especially when they are taking the anti-pve stance which always, 100% of the time, makes for a boring short-lived game that can't keep enough people for "players to become the content".
sig
Tell that to Eve and DAoC, two of the biggest games of their time.
No IDFC if you are hyped for it, or think I am in the minority. I am not in the minority, but the vast majority. You need to look at every other full loot game and it's popularity and success. Full loot is a concrete recipe for disaster...period.
There's more humans killing humans each and every day...
Inform yourself.
In the Real World, 95% of humans never experience war or extreme violence (a.k.a. PVP) in their lifetimes.
Less than 1% of humans actually kill another human during their lifetimes, and even fewer do it intentionally.
Murders and killings make headline news, because they are sensational and unusual. Nobody gets excited about the billions of ordinary people that have completely uneventful lives every day.

What generation are you? When I was a child the whole childhood and its playgrounds were PvP, with god damn full loot.
Maybe because it sounds like only a bigger version of regular dungeon hunting lobby based games? It will have a lobby world/castle/palace like Dragon nest/C9? monster Hunter online. And then from there we will go to those yearly instanced events "hunger worlds". It just seems like an elaborate version of monster hunting instanced game...
Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.
That's probably all the reason you need. I like the idea personally. But that doesn't make it any less niche.
That's a big red flag for many right there, because as games have proven in the past, this kind of PvP attracts the worst types, and usually the community spends a lot of time driving out anyone actually wanting to get in on it by behaving like asshats.
The other important thing to keep in mind is that names don't matter, really. Many great names have backed games and barely had an impact. If the vision is poor, or the supporting team, or just someone in the management overriding their decisions, then names/talent won't save the game.
And lastly, people are burnt out on hype. I like getting hopeful about games, because I really want the genre to finally advance and move in some direction or other, but all I've seen is the same fallbacks to old mechanics as in every other title - generally speaking, not talking about this game in particular, since I won't be playing it. Once again, pvp environments are a big red flag for me, because of the toxic community they attract.

If this were true then explain H1Z1 right now. This game is a simulation of a sandbox full loot pvp mmo.

and when the game fails to live up to their expectations they will be the ones bitching the loudest about it. They need to learn.
