To me it seems most of the spells and powers you get in GW are sort of pitiful. You get a spell that reduces your damage by 50% for 1 second. Or another that lets you get 2 health over 5 seconds. Yet another that lets you regenerate your energy for a maximum of 1.
What's up with all these cheap spells and powers? To begin with, you can't load more then 8, then on top of this you get these type spells/powers.
I carry a resurrect and a heal leaving me with 6 measley slots. Then another for poison being that in the Magumma Jungle there's a lot of poison directed at you. Now I have 5 slots for my weapons. The mana goes much too quick in most instances.
Seems kind a cheap and pitiful to me.
Actually, I'm waiting on a few games that are coming out soon. GW is ok but not good enough to keep me playing it for much longer once I hit lev 20, I'm at 18 now.

First off, are you putting points into the abilities you are using? I am going to go out on a limb and say you built a wamo (warrior/monk), are you putting skill points into healing are you putting skill points into tactics for the damage reduction?
The great aspect of this game is the fact that you have make decisions on what skills to power up and what skills to bring. You can change you skills and your skill points in the towns only. If you put skill point into tactics, you will most likely see the 50% damage raise to more than 1 second. You also have to find ways to manage your energy, the are certain skills that allow for this, one that comes to mind off the top of my head for a Warrior is Bonetti's Defense, where whenever someone attacks you and misses, you gain 5 energy.
You may find the game more interesting when you start taking useful skills that you have powered up. Again, it is all gathering skills and learning how to use them in PvE so you can make more use of them in PvP. Remember this is not about the leveling to get to level 20, it is about what you do after you get there. The level cap is not the end of the game by far. If you quit when you hit 20 then you will miss most of the game.

Selecting skills without apportioning attribute points to support them is the best way to totally gimp your character. Tell us what your primary and secondary professions are, and we can probably help you have some fun with it.
I have had as many as 6 level 20s all get through the game, so I may have had - at one point - a similar character. Let me know what you have and I'll see if I can talk you down off that ledge.
Blue3000,
that's what you call "role-playing". being the owner of your character, you must be able to manipulate and hone your skills according to your own style of fighting. In your case, you have failed to know the in/outs of your skill build. Reallocate your skills and find what suits you! haha that is what "pitiful" means to me
"It's definitely better to be lazy than being tired of doing all the chores!"
Why you want to quit after you reach lvl 20? The game starts at lvl 20. And about the "Pitiful spells" the other posters are right!
Its called strategy and game mechanics, I highly susgest you read up the meanings of the terms son.

I've put points in swords and strength being a Warrior/Monk with some in healing also.
I'm going by what the spells say and nothing more. All games aren't the same no matter what anyone thinks . And this one does very little explaining if any at all.
You have to come here for questions and such being that in game greed is all that counts. Barely anyone helps out in anything unless their paid. Although I've played many on-line games I've never seen it like in this one. To be taken anywhere you have to pay. When asking questions you get no responses. Greed and selfishness are alive and doing very well in this game.
By the way, thanks for talking me out the ledge.
OK, here's the build-out I have on my level 20 W/Mo, and this is a VERY successful build for me.
12 aps on Strength
12 aps on Swordsmanship
11 on Tactics (these are all the blue numbers in the left column on your Hero menu, the white numbers read like this):
13/Strength
16/Swordsmanship
13/Tactics
(I have runes that help me buff these numbers without maxing them at 20).
Here are the skills I use:
1. "Shield's Up!" (Defensive shout that buffs self and team's armor).
2. Flurry (speeds up attack rate by 33%, which helps with the next 2 adrenal skills):
3. "Watch Yourself" (Defensive shout that buffs self and team's armor).
4. Sever Artery (sword attacks that causes bleeding also known as damage over time).
5. Distracting Blow (melee spell disrupting close AoE attack).
6. Sprint
7. Healing Signet
8. Rebirth
Note the only monk spell I have is Rebirth, and that's a res spell.
My armor is Droknar's "Knight's Armor", (80) which further and specifically reduces damage from attacks. (Some Warrior armor offers more energy at the expense of defense, but as the team's "meat shield", I prefer damage mitigation over offense or casting).
My armor combined with shouts means I can have as much as 150 armor on this Warrior, which means I really don't need to carry any monk healing spells. However, I always team with a healer, just in case.
Hope this helps.
P.S. I could go higher on some of these aps if I were to use Major or Superior runes. But Major and Superior runes (except Vigor) cost you hit points (or health points if you prefer) to use. As a Warrior, I want as much health as I can get going into a fight.
You obviously have no clue whatsoever on how to play the game.
Funny....I never thought the learning curve was steep at all in GW....more like a mild slope.
Complaining about only having 4 weapon slots? I usually only bring 2 or 3 attack skills on most fighting characters.
Your running out of energy so fast because ur probably spamming all these attack skills.
You don't understand the game, and no one will miss you if you leave.
Thanks for the tips Serling, I appreciate you taking the time to explain. I hadn't used Tactics yet but I'll check them out.
As for you Cymek, I've got one thing to say to you, Shhhh! Adults and adult minded folks are conversing. So, if you haven't anything useful to add then shhh, go play with your toys while useful conversations take place.
'nuff said.
Damn, I didn't see you Nihilist. Take the advice I gave to whats-his-face. You're one of those players I wrote about who don't help anyone in game unless you're paid. Self serving, greedy and selfish. Yeah, you can tell a lot about someone by the comments they make.
Here you come and hide behind a screen talking smack like the big bad person you think you are. These forums are for gaming opinions whether agreeable with the game or not. Tips, such as what Serling wrote and helpful insight towards the game. But that would be too much for someone like you to grasp so it's understandable when you express yourself the way you do.
Shheesh! Kids these days.
BTW, add the following names to your friend's list. If you don't have one already, I'll set you up with a max damage sword and max protection shield free of charge.
Duncan Serling (my first, a level 20R/Mo: interrupting trapping poisoner)
Alistair Stormcrow (my level 20 E/Mo: Water/Fire Mage, depending on whether I want O or D)
Colin Lionheart (my level 20 W/Mo: "Shout" fighter buffs team defense)
Silas Ravencroft (my level 20 N/Mo: Minion Master...summons level 18 Bone Horrors and Fiends)
Sinjin Makepeace (level 15 Mo/Me: total healer)
Dylan Dreamweaver (level 15 Me/N: fast-casting minion master to keep bad guys from using corpses against me and team)
Duncan Greywolf (level 15 R/Mo..rolled him cause I like the name. Haven't decided on how I want to play him yet but leaning towards Beast Mastery)
Gwen Littledove (newest addition, level 6 E/Mo...she's gonna be my Earth Mage for total team defense).
I don't PvP, so these are all PvE characters.
Hope to see you on-line.
P.S. My Warrior only has 25 energy, but he's never run out of it. That's the advantage of using only 2 energy skills (one with a 45 second recharge time, "Shield's Up") and the other only costing 5 or 10 energy (Flurry, can't recall offhand whether it's 5 or 10). The other skills I use alot are adrenal skills, which cost no energy to use, and the healing signet.
One more thing: using healing signet debuffs your armor by 40, so I always use a shout that buffs armor before using it. That way I'm not losing all the health I'm trying to gain by using it. My warrior's armor is 80, I use a 16 armor shield, and shouts buff the armor by 40 and 20. When I stack the shouts, my armor increases to 156 total. And yet a couple of lvel 12 Wind Riders can drop me when they spam me with Conjure Phantasm. Such is the life of a "meat shield".
(Did I mention I hate Mesmers before?)
Later.
Yeah well ur crying about very basic features of the game...what do you expect?
GW has the best skill system ever only followed by EvE Online, the thing is (I think) that you are used to play games that the character gets so powerfull that you dont have to do anything. no here in GW you can be lvl 20 and have the best weapons and armor and still suck. the key of this game is that you, YOU -not your character- have to level up i mean, you ahve to gain experience, you have to learn to be fast to move quickly to act quickly, and make decisions every second. if you paly PvE, its easy... VERY easy. PvP, that is when the challenge of GW begins.
Learn to paly the game. I suggest you check out http://www.guildwiki.org/, it has tons of info about hte game. and there are lots of other websites with info and strategies for GW.
Enjoy the game...

He doesnt 'get' it. The W/Mo selection proves that.
Nobody here is really bashing you as a person, its youre whining mouth (fingers) that is the problem. Who the hell here is asking for money, or hand outs to give you help? You can drop the stupid little innocent school yard girl act while youre at it buddy. A few of us could have been nice and helpfull like Serling, but why bother when youre origional post is pure bitching? With a post like that dont expect much help, you are lucky that you got any at all.

I have a level 20 W/Mo. It's a great combo, providing you're not relying on healing or protecting skills to save you. My Warrior has exactly enough energy to use Aegis once, but then nothing else for awhile (only +3 regen on energy, same as my Ranger).
In the early stages of the game, Retribution is a nice self-enchantment you can use for damage, as is Symbol of Wrath. In the later stages, though, you can't put enough APs into them and still be a viable defender of the team. Shouts, stances, and adrenal skills are where a Warrior shines, IMHO.
Best reason to have a Monk secondary at all is for the ability to res fallen teammates to be able to finish the mission.
The W/mo is an awful choice for pvp unless your team is doing something special. 99% of the time though a w/mo is useless.
This is because the monk offers pretty much nothing that helps a warrior in pvpm especially gvg. The w/r with tigers fury and sometimes iway and the w/e with gale and frenzy are currently the main viable warrior builds for the higher pvp competiton.
So many w/mos use to many monk skills that require to much energy and need high attributes to be of any real use. The only somewhat useful skills are smiting like strength of honour and judges insight, but even they have to much casting time and/or take to much energy.
Using aegis as mentioned above is a terrible skill to have on a warrior because is takes far to much energy for only like 8 seconds. You would be much much better off using tatics skills.
well, thats y w/mo was meant for Pve not pvp
no one attacks the war. war are killed the last.
i good war/mo strat in pvp is to bring a enchant, such as men d or bond, (bond is much betta thouhg) and cast it on a monk to reduce the ff on the monk. most noobs wars cast on thimself. stupid bastards

I don't PvP with any of my characters, so it isn't an issue. In my opinion, PvP is nothing more than a pubescent "pecker contest." I prefer PvE.
I refer you to my Warrior's character build-out on the first page of this thread. I don't use Aegis with my Warrior and never have. I was citing that as an example of why most Monk skills are worthless to a Warrior. As noted above, the best reason to have a Monk secondary for ANY primary set is unlimited Res. (My level 20 N/Mo uses Heal Area in conjunction with Blood of the Master to keep minions healed).
last time I checked WARRIORS were made for dealing uber damage (Especially in pvp) I can understand 2-3 healing spells while trying to solo or when going without monks (yeah right) or when going in UW you can become stance tanks
This is a story that made me so frustrated with most of them
wtf I see teams with 3MONKS (already alot) and this noob warrior comes with his IWAY r3 (he farmed the rank via IWAY) and carries healing skills and cant even control it .... 2 warriors just like that... (I was leader ranger) and wtf we fighting on Ventrilo with the others laughing. me a 12 yr old and him a 16yr old.. no surprise he left (the team was on my side) I kicked the other warrior though I tolerated him a lil bit more...
W/mos tend to be dumb I DUNNO WHY!
Warriors are made for little dmg, but high defense, in the same well elementalists are made for high dmg and low defense, with rangers in the middle.
Oh and of course you realise IWAY Warriors are W/R, and dont carry any healing.
Yeah, this kid is one reason I prefer rolling with henchies any chance I get.
Having played WoW, CoH, and Guild Wars, the biggest problem I've noticed with people who play tanks/warriors in general, is impatience borne out of a sense of invincibility. They charge in without considering the foe they're facing, often dragging the whole team into the fight. Then, when they get summarily faceplanted, they blame monks for not healing or blasters/rangers for not killing fast enough then storm off the team.
I was playing my R/Mo helping a group of newly arrived people to Perdition Rock with Final Blow. When we zoned, I said, "we need to be patient, pull small groups, and wipe all the Hydras out." (If you run to the first Mursaat Tower there, they all follow and aggro you resulting in a total team wipe. I've seen it over and over again happen that way).
The team had 3 Warriors, myself, 2 Elementalists and 2 monks. I told people to stay back while I pulled first group of 3 to them for ambush. Killed all three of them with hardly anyone's health dropping. Pulled second group and did the same. By this time, all the Warriors are complaining that this was "boring" and that they've "never had to play this way before."
I said, "Fine. Play it your way" and left. Thirty seconds later, one of the Elementalists caught me in Ember Light Camp and said, "as soon as you left, the warriors charged in, aggroed everything, got whole team wiped then quit after b!tching out the monks for not healing them."
Now, when I go to Ember Light Camp, the only way I will team with ANY group of players is if they agree up front to do it my way, otherwise I don't join the group. Harsh, I know, but people that do it my way in PvE don't get killed.
One other example to make the point:
Abbadon's Mouth. Many of the player-Warriors I've seen play that mission want to keep attacking and killing the towers as quickly as possible. Most people don't realize that killing a tower spawns level 24 Mursaat Guardians in positions behind the group, where they ambush the Monks and Rangers supporting the Warriors. The key to winning that mission is kill a tower, back off, wait for spawned ambushes, defeat those, then attack next tower and repeat. Again, the key is patience, something most human players don't seem to possess.
(P.S. Inexperienced teams get wiped so often in Perdition Rock because the Hydras use an elite skill called Glyph of Renewal, which allows 6 of them to spam Meteor Shower 12 times on a single team. Meteor Shower knocks you down and interrupts spells, so it's never a good idea to aggro too many Hydras there. My E/Mo capped renewal off a Hydra boss there and I use it often.)
I didnt say IWAY heals.. I said its the easiest way of rank/fame farming for tanks... they need a set of skills easy to get... then they dont listen.. Ive seen an IWAY group go without order and tainted...
Why? because most never play w/r.. they play a rerolled w/mo and NEVER carry the spells told to carry.
Yeah warriors carry good armour and good dmg dealing but not as good as eles but still meant to dal dmg
