With Tamriel Unlimited releasing next week, I thought now would be an excellent time discuss some of the addons that I feel new and old players of ESO should be using. There are hundreds of different addons for ESO but for this column I’m going to focus on five quality of life addons, helping to increase your gaming experience.

could not agree more addons are the plague of mmos
i am the immortal who will find perfect utopia at all cost .
But when the game has crappy UI and lacks of the most basic functions, addons are very useful.
ESO is one of this cases.

I'd like a Unified Auction House Add-on
Throw in a LFG Add-on that actually works while you're at it too.
then i suggest you don't use em?
prob solved! damn i rock!

This article should have been called: "5 UI modifications so desirable in ESO that add-ons had to be created to make up for it"
And this questionable UI design is not a ESO specific problem.
It makes sense in a lot of ways for a developer to focus on a basic functional UI and allow the players to change it as they please. I don't know of any MMO where everyone is happy with the default UI. Heck most game videos you see the UIs are so modded it's almost unrecognizable.
As an active addon author I can tell you that your list is too short.
No list would be complete if it didnt contain:
1 - Master Merchant
2 - Swaps (Skill Swaps)
Plus Master Merchant works with Awesome Guild Store now!
And it's compatible with the only offline sales database addon GSA (yes it's mine - but so what, it's a one of a kind addon!)
You really should have had a top 10 because by leaving of Master Merchant you have an invalid list.

I like using addons but i dont use addons that plague my screen. Vanilla ESO UI is my favorite mmo UI to date. The only UI addon i have (forgot the name) lets me unlock the UI components so i can put hp/mp/stamina bars a little closer.
Other than that i use an enhanced chat addon and the skyshards addon. Skyshards are basically mandatory so to me they dont feel like a reward for exploring the map. As a result, i just need the exact locations and carry on.
or they are really dumb for making the UI so bad that it forced them to release a FAT API so that people wouldnt quit after 20 minutes of playing on a 1990 UI.
Interesting as I don't know of any MMO where everyone is happy with any feature. You could probably get most players to agree on a feature in an MMO that's good but never everyone. :-)
STO has a good UI. Never found the need to add to it. I like SWTOR's UI also. The most addons I've used was with WoW.

The only problem I had with the ui was the potion wheel but that is just a matter of getting use to. They allowed you the player to customize it however you wanted. This leaves room for an almost limitless number of possibilities. If you want it to look like WOW you can do it. If you want it to look like GW2 or SWTOR then it will happen. You can't really complain because you are too lazy to download or write the mod that suits your needs.

I have to applaud ESO for attempting to keep the UI as minimal as possible so you spend more time looking at the world than you do at your UI.
Knowing that there are a ton of players out there that just have to see every buff/debuf/timer/floating number, etc they at least allowed the creation of these add-on's by the community.
With that said, Research assistant and Wyykid's loot (so I can see what everyone in the group loot's) is all I use. I would like to see an addon which announces achievements in guild chat however.
Yup! Addons are great when they are used right.
