What are some of your favorite EverQuest moments? Let us know in the comments!

I thought that was a Project Gorgon trailer for a second there. The graphics are about the same.

Those of us that were there from the beginning, we remember. The wipes. The delevels. The corpse runs. D'Vinn appearing out of no where. Being chased by cyclops and giants across Karana. We remember.

As a Rogue, sole survivor in Hate after a wipe. Or winning the Blood of Mrylokar, a powerful dagger, at the end of the Dragon Ring Raid that took 2 days.

Karnor's was definitely one of my favorite places to hang out. A dangerous zone but I loved all of the trains through there.

Oh those days were so wonderful! They turned me into the nerd I am today!

How about this one too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5yeem83GrI

I remember my early days the best.  Started a necromancer.  Did not know about medding for a couple months into the game.  Lost a corpse in the Nek forest with all my gear on it.  Endless lag, because there was mostly only dialup at the time.

First night, started a half-elf in Surefall Glade. Ran into Qeynos Hills in the middle of the skeleton event, where higher than usual NPC skeletons overrun the low-level characters. In my mind, it was and still is one of the most epic MMO experiences I have shared in. Higher level characters were trying to fight back the skeletons at the Surefall zone line, but doing their best just to hold their ground. Shouts throughout the zone of a line of even higher level characters forming a group at Qeynos and driving like a wedge up the road toward the ruins. The Surefall group making a tight circle and pushing south to meet them (and my brand new low level toon doing my best to stay in the middle and not get hit so I can watch the battle unfold. Spells and arrows flying. Swords hacking. Dial-up stuttering. Corpse running and trying to get to the fight again (but never making it). The eventual sunrise and end of the curse/scripted event. I know I'll never have that experience --- that OMG how is this possible? --- moment again. And that makes me a little sad. But, I'm still grateful and happy to have had that moment be my introduction to online gaming.

You forgot the griffens in East Commons. Though they weren't much challenge for a group of Necro's at least until they nerfed out Lifetap. image

    In Peace - Vigilance.

    Fixed ;-)

MMOs finally replaced social interaction, forced grouping and standing in a line while talking to eachother.

Now we have forced soloing, forced questing and everyone is the hero, without ever having to talk to anyone else. The evolution of multiplayer is here! We won,... right?

Epic weapon quest that took 2 weeks (and mine was one of the shorter ones- spear of fate).

the biggest sense of the accomplishment i've ever had in an MMO.  Server firsts in WoW be damned.

RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

A goblin stronghold recently wiped clean may become a rebuilt stronghold of players in that area or a prime target for an even more sinister group of creatures. Random events and quests which will never be repeated. This would bring back the same feeling of old school EQ. Until than, it's grinding through the same static worlds in every MMO.

    New MMO's need...

    1) Season cycles

    2) True day and night cycles ( where night time actually is night time depending on moon phases for illumination )

    3) Food and drink a viable resource for increased health and mana regen

    4) Encumberance ( this was removed with just inventory space being the defining factor of when to return home )

    5) Limited fast travel ( instead give the ability to summon players an actually class ability as well as teleportation spells )

    6) Huge world ( because there are people who enjoy exploration )

    7) Random events ( I don't mean random repeatable events, I mean, random one time events )

    8) Unique quests ( dependent on what is going on in the area, such as rumors of creatures that may be living in a nearby cave and once they are removed, the cave may lie dormant for a very long time or occupied quickly depending on current factors of random world events )

    9) True crafting ( such as crafters controlling what stats go on an items, up to and including visual effects )

    10) Random resources ( such as mineral nodes that popup until harvested and then are gone forever with varying grades of quality )

    11) Social AI ( creatures with high intelligence or socialist behavior may group up and form warbands, scouting parties and even evolve into a civilization depending on how long they survive. Creatures would also be able to collect loot from players they kill to increase their difficulty )

Will a game like this ever exists? Probably not, but this is what the new generation of MMO's would require to bring back the excitement that was day one in EverQuest.

    2 weeks?

It took me 9 months and i have been in the Nr 2 guild on my server. Necro tho, the spear was a bit easier, but still. 2 weeks? Damn.

I agree tho. If someone asks me what i think about questing i ALWAYS come up with epic quests in EQ. I love those, i HATE all the rest. Leave me alone with questing, give me camps. I want to get to know new people and not just run past them while i solo my way to victory, thanks.

Citadel of Sorcery is about the closest you are going to get at this stage.

Played: UO, LotR, WoW, SWG, DDO, AoC, EVE, Warhammer, TF2, EQ2, SWTOR, TSW, CSS, KF, L4D, AoW, WoT

Playing: The Secret World until Citadel of Sorcery goes into Alpha testing.

Tired of: Linear quest games, dailies, and dumbed down games

    Anticipating:Citadel of Sorcery

Day 1 of EQ.  Drowned on my high elf wizard near the entrance to felwithe.  First game I ever played with rmb to mouse look.  Fun times.
