WARNING!!! Stay clear of Path of Exile!!!!!

starstorm777starstorm777 Member UncommonPosts: 114

OK ...last time I am trying this game! It is a good game don't get me wrong but damn, they haven't fixed this stupid problem they have been having since the game came out due to many complaints I have been reading. EVERY damn time I have played this game I have had the same results also. AND I do have a powerful gaming laptop....and will play almost any damn game out there right now with NO CRASHES EVER!!! Path of Exile will overheat my system within less than 5 minutes and I'm talking OVERHEAT like a bitch! SO DAMN HOT! If your PC or laptop does NOT have a thermal safety feature that will automatically shut of your system if it gets too hot, you are screwed with this game....Google is jam packed with the same problem for YEARS with no solution...with the game company telling people it is their computers, which is BULLSHIT!!! So if I were you, I would stay clear of this game, this is the 7th time trying this game out, and on 6 different computers!!! ALL with the same results....I GIVE UP! PATH OF EXILE, THUMBS DOWN 4 U .... I will go and play the million other MMOs I already play....good day.

    Erm, okay...

I thought this was going to be about the desynching problem.

I've never experienced anything like that (and neither have the RL friends who've played it).

I have been playing this for years, and have not heard of this issue before. Perhaps it has something to do with your particular card/drivers?

I play POE on my dual core 2.2ghz whit my old GTS 450 whit no problem, jsut gotta lower graphics but rest go fine.

Upgrading a PC with a decent heat sink is easy and inexpensive. It's one of the simplest upgrades you can perform.

For my laptop, I have to make sure I have an external fan circulating air across the bottom. It is an older system and has this issue while playing most games.

Overall PoE is a good game. Not an MMO, but a good game.

Haven't had this issue at all on any of my three computers.

Also, the font in the OP is hard to read - wtb line spacing.

Yeah the game was designed to overheat your PC.  Sigh...would you stop this nonsense. Obviously if this was a known issue it would of been  addressed and fixed a long time ago. Some GPU intensive games can heat up your graphics card, but POE is not one of those games. You obviously have an issue with your computer. And don't  vote the game a 1 on Metacritic , the game is awesome and  totally free to play.

It's crazy that none of you are having this issue, my laptop is super fine, I have a quad core, no other game makes my system overheat, and I DID put graphics on low....it's something with the stupid game itself....since I have had this laptop NOTHING has made this thing crash except that game...not even a program....just this stupid game.

If you Google Path of Exile and overheating computer and restarting computer during gameplay...you will see this has been happening since launch day. It's not just me or my computer, and like I said my computer is top notch....I have no need to upgrade anything.
  • angerbeaverangerbeaver Member UncommonPosts: 1,273

Are you running just the game? What is in the background? X-fire has never overheated my PC but if I ran it with Archeage my PC froze and reboot. Check what's running in the background, stop it and then see if it runs cooler. Could be a combination of programs and PoE sends it over the top (which it shouldn't anyways really).

Some reports say turning VSynch on fixed their issue. Can try that just in case.

Your computer is just old and has a lot of dust on it.

Clean it and it will run not so hot anymore.

Btw, you will find every problem you can imagine on google, it happens with 7 billion people, doesn't mean it is serious.

I am smart enough to not run anything in the background, I don't even run xfire....I don't even use it hardly. The only thing running is the Steam client where the game launches from.

It is not old, and it's a laptop and it's top of the line for today's laptops standards and it's not dirty at all
  • starstorm777starstorm777 Member UncommonPosts: 114
Dilweed, I understand that but people HAVE the issue or it wouldn't be out there to be looked up....and people STILL bitching about it and people like ME STILL having the issue

A laptop is always years behind a decent desktop when it comes to performance.

You can't compare a desktop graphics cards wtih a laptop graphics chip, it's a different league.

If you can't clean your laptop more, then your laptop is just not very good and you should buy some extra cooling for it.

Btw, paying 1000+ dollars for a laptop, doesn't mean it is good...

lol really man you still are living in 2008 or 09 thinking laptops are far behind desktops. My laptop probably smokes half your gaming desktops out there. Proper custom built laptops with proper cooling are just as fast as desktops if not faster due to the lower resolutions your monitor runs for calculating your gpu frames. Ive had various desktops and laptops custom built for me over the years and this sager for example I run is probably the fastest ive owned. They do cost a ton more , i spent almost 3k on this sager customizing its processor and gpus but I can tell you right now laptops have gaming rigs now to and this one runs cooler than any desktops ive owned.

OP-its a free to play game that is a D2 clone what do you expect great support? Neverwinter to this day since beta hasnt fixed the login issues of the loading screen hanging and you have to do a workaround for every patch they push at you. Tech support nowadays is pretty much nonexistant in all games out there even p2p as most CSRs will run you through a laundry list of cut and paste scripted responses that have zero relevance to your issue at hand.

yep, the guy with a 3k laptop proves me wrong...

Try building a desktop for 3k, see if your laptop can match that...

I agree with the laptop dude, my laptop is more powerful than 3 of my desktop computers COMBINED and they are less than 3 years old the desktops!!!   SO TELL ME my laptop is shit and not powerful....you're sadly mistaken!!! My laptop is a gaming monster, they are making laptops WAY more powerful than desktops now a days ....that's why the competition is so competitive when it comes to the two....wake up to the new reality!! I used to think the same thing you did that desktops were more powerful....I used to custom build my own machines....so I know....but they are making laptops more extreme so even custom making your own pc is becoming obsolete ...my fun pasttime is almost gone because of that....

It's true. POE made my computer run so hot that it melted through the floor, and fell on my grandma. Ruth was a wonderful woman.

So, you also have a 3k+ laptop?

If you are so sure about your laptop, why don't you post the specs?

  • starstorm777starstorm777 Member UncommonPosts: 114
I tried all kinds of settings....to no avail..... and I had posted earlier the only thing running in the background is STEAM which launches the game

"Powerful gaming laptop" doesn't help any. Can you post your system specs?

Because this is a troll(read: idiotic) post. They're seeking attention and you're giving it to them. It's why they're going with the super obnoxious text and absolutely horrible formatting. Despite multiple requests for specs, all they return is "my laptop is great".

Do yourself a favor and move on to another thread. Less you want to waste your time then by all means.
