Ok so not really a question about the game. But I just got my world building test/demonstration thing from Simu. And was wondering if you guys had any tips for me?

Congratulations on making it to the next step! Since I am currently waiting/hoping to be lucky enough to receive the world building test, I was curious how long it took after applying to get it.

About a month, maybe a little less.

I'm pretty sure you gotta pick two different ones, but you could always spend your Hero's Points on just warrior skills.. and then I don't think the other class would really matter...
I have a question, who thought of the giant turtle with that stuff on it's back, that totally doens't fit the game, that was a bad idea I think, stuff like that makes me think that your designers are lost and can't think of anything creative.

Yes, it's much less creative than trolling the Hero's Journey forums for months on end with no substantiative reason for doing so.
Now I have a question...the article says powerful wizards can create these..sooooo that means we can have one right? RIGHT?
I actually like the turtles, reminds me of Diskworld (hmmm I think I'm dating myself now). Also has me wondering if there will be other types of moving buildings...We've seen wandering mobs but how about wandering dungeons?

Hmm, any GM's there?
Well, hopefully they're all busy working on the game!

Unfortunately, due to NDA's, we can't answer that question and give a list of skills and combos and such. That will have to wait for someone with publication authority to put out to the public. But, the way the interviews are going, with all the information being put out, I'm sure that list or some info on skills and combos will eventually be spoken about.

Ah...... oh. I didn't mean skills. Um, maybe I shouldn't have used the word "combo".
What I actually meant was the names of class combinations. Like, maybe a Ranger/Healer is a called a Druid, or a Warrior/Cleric is called a Paladin, or a Warrior/Necromancer is a Death Knight. So far the only one we know is that a Rogue/Bard is a Dirge.
I figured the names of classes wouldn't be a big deal, especially since we already know one of them from a screenshot.

Hey GMs--thank you for the great support, answers, and help that this thread has provided.
Three quick questions...
1. I know that duel wielding weapons (a sword in each hand, for example) is not currently in the game per a previous post. However, are there any plans to implement this style of fighting?
2. Are two handed weapons (a huge sword, a staff, a staff/blade combo) in the game or are all fighters currently based off of a one hand weapon? What about shields?
3. I know this has been beat to death, but up until about 1 month ago the official line from Simu was that the game would be released 2Q of 2006 ish. Recently, however, the only date given out is sometime in 2006. Has the date changed or is the 2Q of 2006 still looking feasable?
Thank you again for all of the answers, support, and help. And thank you for working so hard on such a great game!
So i watched the movie that had the character costimization on it and a little bit how the battle system works, after that they showed a scene where one of the players hit a some rocks with something or however he caused it and made a bunch of boulders come crashing down to kill the big group of mobs. Then i saw a bridge come crashing down...anyways all of that was AMAZING, it made my jaw drop like 5 feet, but was that an instance zone?? cause if it wasnt was that the only time u could make boulders come crashing down in that specific area, as in like since it was done, it cant be done there ever again? How does that work?? Do you guys refresh it so other people can do it? or maybe im confused

Hiya Tiran, thanks for the kind words. Lets see what I can answer.
1) An answer has not been released by the onsite gang on this. Although I agree it would be cool.
2) This is also something the onsite gang hasn't shared yet. But I will confirm that there are shields and they can be used.
3) My official answer is, "When it's ready." This all important date is something only the producers can give for certain. We can only share that information. But you have to believe me when I say we working hard to get it ready.
I wish I could share more... so I will share something else.
We are always, and I mean always looking for Offsite GM's to work behind the scenes. We've got some great people in training as we speak. Some of which, came right from this forum!
So if you or someone you know might be interested in being a GM for HJ, please read the following website and apply.

You are correct, That part was instanced and it can be reset for others to play through or even yourself.
But, if you think that an instanced quest will "always" be the same if you play through it again on a different character, please read this statement from Eric Slick.
A key part of that is the "Journey System". Here's a statement from the bossman himself about that.
David Whatley:
In Hero's Journey, your character will have a story arc that is uniquely his or her own. To achieve this effect, we have built a sophisticated mechanism called the Journey System. It is responsible for dynamically creating story elements and plot points as you explore the world of Elanthia. Along the way the system introduces random plot elements drawn from things you do, encounters you've had, people you meet, what others do and major world events. It keeps things moving, keeps them interesting and makes your play experience unique to that character. As an added bonus, this greatly enhances replayability if you want to start over (maybe to try a different profession).

well, the world looks great but certainly don't know very much about the play mechanics
two areas of major concern to me are
solo play - a must
crafting - for some reason i just get off creating items for others to use
anything you can enlighten me on in these areas?
And thy questions be answered.
