I can't tell you how many times I've heard my guildies say "never gonna buy another game from company X" (insert your own most hated company) only to find out they are playing their games couple of months later.

If gamers stuck to their word - companies like EA would have been out of business years ago, instead they are more profitable than ever.

Same with Trion - it's no secret that I have friends who work there - and they are more profitable now than ever.

More profitable than ever compared to what? To being almost bankrupt back then? To their own bad numbers? To when the company circled the drain after players left Rift in droves even before Storm Legion? Or EoN hit a brick wall? When they had to close in SanDiego because Defiance failed so hard that the title couldnt carry its own studio? When Crytek rather took Warface in their own hands and away from Trion?

If they sell 10 more lockboxes than back then,  they are already being "more profitable than ever" -but it won't help them in the long run as by now the majority of players in general wouldnt touch anything Trion with a ten foot pole.

"More profitable" Trion is nowadays living on a handful of whales that feast on RNG boxes, while they keep on ruining their image with a history of horrible decisions for everyone else.

Anyway with that being said, this is what happens actually when people allow their games to have a billing model that is part of progression, in which progression is directly tied to real cash money. Ironically people who are posting about being anti F2P are the same people who support things like STO's new billing model and GW2 TP centric model or even the RMTAH in Diablo III early days. If you supported those models you are part of the problem, not the people who advocate for a LOTRO/Rift style billing model because the F2P isn't the problem, the problem is when these companies get greedy in any billing model and wnat you to pay to progress your character.

It was not just the way the game was billed that was the issue.  It was the way they let the bots control the game, that and the cheaters with their speed and teleporting cheats.  You could not buy land because as soon as some freed up the bots bought it,  there were big areas with more bots than players.  Then you were constantly bombarded with the spam messages.

This was not new to f2p games.  And it was quite evident in Beta there were huge issues here.  Trion just released it as is.  As far as many of us are concerned, we won't ever touch a Trion game again.  They killed whatever good karma they had with Rift by their actions with this game.   The Trion studio is now one of the worst ones out there.

Getting people that were burned by their $150 early investment to come back is ludicrous.

I was wondering how long it would be before the latest Crisis Of Doom At Archeage was going to grace the forums. It's been too quiet lately. Now the entertainment is back!

I agree they had many blow out, but some poor decisions was on them, other was on the player expecting more then what the game was and is. Like land how many complain I heard about this as the game was limit amount of land long be for the game came out over sea, even befor came to NA was told and told again land was limited, but most the complain was I pay this I should get land.

They are not idiots they know very well what they do. This game's EU release is what... its 3rd?

Based on the first 2 weeks they knew the numers for the next 2 years. They can tell you exact statistics about this game on weekly basis for the next say 18months.

And based on those stats they make cash shop(and all other kind of) decisions. So they just estimated that the (monetary) negatives of all those "bad decisions" are smaller than the (monetary) gains. And their media posts are just to lower the "monetary" ninuses so they have bigger net positive.

I knew this was gonna be a huge slap in the face of existing ArcheAge players - I played for the fist 4 months and did really really enjoy it - The mismanagement of this game is what drove me and the MASS amount of players away and this is just another example of their consistent failures.

I left in January because the game was clearly dying. No one in the starter zones making new characters, the biggest guilds were consolidating and joining together to stay alive and "powerful",  prices of everything were inflated to the extreme and I was in game rich due to several easily predictable skyrocketing APEX prices but that STILL COULDN'T keep me . So I quit when my items were still worth something. I sold all my 55 Apex's and my End game ( at the time) items  to recoup some of the money I spent and got lotsa RL money and also in game money for another MMO that I play and cant be killed :) No its not that stupid Warcraft game. It has waaay more depth and a toxic community hint hint

There no worse feeling then putting time and effort into anything in vain. Oh and by the way, I got one of the $100 gold secrets gift pack and a ton of other included goodies that also comes with it, im still not coming back! TRION You fucked up n keep fucking up - ArcheAge could have been incredible! Now its a blueprint of exactly how NOT to manage a game!

Oh and for those that think the Dolphin was a $$$ based conspiracy , I can only weigh in with my experience and that is what most opinions should be based on, PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. I spent alotta money on this game along with another friend / guildy of mine, we BOTH got the dolphin mount gift pack whereas another group of our guildies who spent very minimal money didn't. We all quit the same day. COINCIDENCE?  Seems quite evident of otherwise.

Well, I too have spent alot of money on this game in addition to having hung in there since Beta....no goodies for me. And yeah...the land grab is a big downer.....I still don't have a house even though I have 6 characters two of which LVL 50.  And I have reached those levels without a guild...maybe I could grap some land via guild as they seem to be land hoarders as well.  But I will hang in there until I get really bored or sick of the bots land grabbing.  I really do enjoy the ability to soar in the clouds or sail the seas in addition to all of the other activities out side of the usual PVP, PVE, questing monotony that goes on. I am also a patron of ESO but found AA to be much more user freindly for my gaming style...but may take a looksee at the upgrade everyone's chatting about and possibly will take a break from AA.

How are cosmetic dolphin skns ever to generous? Couldn't they just give patrons extra bonuses to make up for it? I mean, its rediculous since its just cosmetics...
