This is the Dev team that will save SWG, LMAO!!!
Hello!
I wanted to share a look ahead at Publish 28 with you. We will be discussing these items further in the Stratics chat tonight, so come prepared with any questions you have about them.
Armor Enhancements
We are removing armor certifications for all armor wearing classes. This means that any class that is able to wear armor will be able to use Battle, Assault, and Recon armor type, with the following exceptions:
- Mandalorian Armor will still be restricted to Master Bounty Hunters and Master Commandos.
- Jedi will continue to be restricted from wearing armor.
All armor hindrances will be removed. There will no longer be a penalty for wearing armor.
Armor Loot Drops
We will be adding more armor loot drops to the game. The power of the armor that can be looted will be proportional to the Combat Level of the MOB.
These new armor loot drops will use a wide variety of stats and protections.
We will be adding a much larger variety of clothing armor for all players through loot drops throughout the game, including Jedi exclusive clothing.
PvP Enhancements
A command will be added that can be used from the tool bar that will allow players to declare from Combatant to Special Forces in the field. This will take 30 seconds to execute.
If you are killed in PvP combat by another player, they will be rewarded one of your items chosen at random. This could be either an equipped item or an item in your inventory. No-drop, bio linked, and no-trade items will be exempt from this.
After you are killed you will have the option of placing a bounty on your attacker. This will deduct the specified amount from your bank account or from your cash on-hand and add the bounty to your killer. Bounties placed on a player will be cumulative, so if multiple bounties are placed on a player, their overall bounty will increase. The bounty can then be claimed by a Bounty Hunter as described below.
Bounty Hunter System
If the /bountyCheck command fails it will now clear its cooldown timer properly so that it can be used again immediately.
Bounty Hunters will now be able to use the /bountyCheck command on other players. If the other player has a bounty on them, the Bounty Hunter will be notified of the bounty amount and will then have the option of attempting to claim the bounty. Claiming a bounty will flag both the Bounty Hunter and the target as PvP positive using the existing duel system. (Insuring one-on-one combat.) If the Bounty Hunter kills the target then they receive the bounty and it is cleared from the target. They will also receive the PvP item as described above.
Item Changes
We will be removing the no-drop, no-trade, and bio-link items off a wide variety of items. These will be primarily quest reward items.
Entertainer Additions
To allow entertainers the option of engaging in more of the content in the game, we have added combat abilities as part of the progression path. Entertainers will be able to advance through either combat or their normal activities. None of the existing entertainer abilities are being removed, though AI will no longer ignore entertainers.
In addition to these items, we will also working on key fixes and other regular updates that will be released between now and then.
Thanks. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

LOL!!!!
This has to be the DUMBEST grouping of ideas I have EVER heard!!!!
Let me get this straight....
I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!
In fact, forget the SWG!!!!
I think I'm going to create my own thread on the new changes.
Cripes, I agree with AA.
Ico
Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones. It bones for thee.
No, actually, theese are some of the best adds they have made in a loong time. The bounty being brought back and all! WIth loot on each kill! Wow, have they FINALLY turned away from the stupid Carebears which were beating up this game?
It's just too bad they add this to a dead game

And I don't want to hear anything about "I don't believe in vampires" because *I* don't believe in vampires, but I believe in my own two eyes, and what *I* saw is ******* vampires! "
Soooo Now ents get to fight. They add a bunch of stuff they took away and bring back ideas they dismissed months ago.
Yeah! They got vision!
SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!
Actually, you loot the persons inventory, and that includes their armor & weps. Anything that the person has on them that is not "No Trade" or "Bio-Linked (and they're removing most of these on existing items)" can be potentially looted in a random pick of one item out of the total.
Then, a player who has been killed can place a bounty on the person who killed them. This is going to turn into "get a bunch of bountys on you and have a friend kill you". There's also no limit to this, so basicly ANYONE who does PVP will have BH after them.
I'm no carebear, infact I think that wearing ANY faction items should Tef you SF, and that NPC & Players should be able to constantly scan for Faction. IT'S A WAR! Here are some real ideas IMO:
These systems will KILL PVP. It doesn't matter if you like them, check the SWG forums, most PVP'ers don't like it, and this will drive more players away. Who will want to PVP and loose your best Wep's? All we'll have is power gank squads, or naked PVP. And with all of the spare cash, expect EVERYONE you kill to bounty you. And with the /bountycheck option, with no terms needed, BH will wait at SP's for people to spawn in and gank them.
These WILL kill PVP. Come on Dev's. Make it a random generated loot based on the players level, or something, but you MUST do better than this...

No, you can only loot ONE randomly picked item fromt he other persons inventory, not the entire lot.

I didn't say you loot their entire inventory, I said you loot their inventory, as in "it's not a generated loot, it's from that person". It's not a generated Drop, it's an actual item from their inventory.
I can see how that can be misread, I'll change it.

So where was this stuff a few months ago and why push it now?
I guess to get any kind of action the community needs to completely revolt and leave the game.
And...
Why the sudden changes to the Ents? So now they will be a combat profession. Will this extend to Traders as well? At this point wouldn't it be easier to just go back to the open template like it was before to give Ents and Traders more options in combat plus some of those social skills can be transfered to the other professions....
I don't see a problem there. I'll put on my faction armor that is biolinked (everybody will finaly be in faction armor). Take my kashyyykan stalker pistol (biolinked) and go pwn rebs.... to bad i will not be able use nyms carbine. Then again you will lose boots, handwhear if not biolinked, and there are no biolinked jewelery, shirts, psg, belts and other power ups.... Can they loot backpack full of stuff?
Sounds fun, and can bring some fun back, but it may kill PVP, cuz it is fragile as it is... duno...
I guess this gives people a reason to pvp. Its very UO.
I thought the whole reason to pvp was you know rebel vs empire with the results having some ingame inpact. Like how guild wars controls the underworld. Some sort of server by server system to allow factions to control special locations.
I also didn't like BH's of like faction alignment hunting a mark, the BH system was iffy quiet a bit prior to the nge as far as working without bugs. There is a lot of possibilities for griefing and exploitation inherent in the BH system.
In any event the combat system still is junk, the gcw still wont exist and its a horrible game. however, if you like bad pvp I am sure swg is going to make it nice and exploiter friendly. If you want a good pvp game just get guild wars.
SWG the only star wars game on the market missing the wars.
There should be a random drop bassed off of the character's level, and to make it fair a % of the players cash, but not their items. Set it up so that there's a timer before they can PvP again and that the person who killed them can only obtain an item from them again after a very long timer (that away they can't purposly let their alts or friends kill them to produce items).
I DO however like the Bounty Hunter idea, accept they need to make it so that they can still scan a player to see if they have Bounty, but then they have to go to a BH terminal to accept and activate the bounty. That or at least put a protection timer on people who are logging in or just arived at the starports so that they can't be ganked while loading or having just loaded in.
Now they need to make all jedi wearing any jedi related equipment to become KOS to all Imperial soldiers (no matter what side of the force they are on).
The armor sistem is not going to work out, it will kill the SWG feel even more, since now everyone will be running around in the stormtrooper heavy armor and it will be just like the old days where EVERYONE wore composite.
Top Ten Most Misused Words/Phrases in MMO Industry...
It'll kill PvP. Notice the "removing the no-trade, no-drop, bio-link requirement from many items" tag? Yeah.
Here's what will happen: Naked PvP. Death. Bounty. Two days later you log into a starport, with some good items on you (perhaps you're going PvE) and a BH ganks you as you load and takes something -- odds are some quest reward that you can only earn ONCE and dearly love. Then you quit or NEVER PvP again.
You CANNOT go from a "no penatly whatsoever" PvP system (there is currently NO NGE death penalty whatsover) to a "lose an item when you die, and we'll make sure the bulk of the items you have are loseable". Players won't take it.
Right now, I think SOE is actually having a contest to see WHOSE post can kill the most subs on a given day.
The usual idiots will be all "Oh, this is great! Makes PvP risky! Makes dying a bad thing!". Yes, it does. But the NGE had the ultimate carebear experience and NO ONE WILL LIKE THE CHANGE. Perhaps the change would be acceptable EXCEPT for the new Bounty System.
People would only PvP with items they could afford to lose -- or naked -- and things would adjust. But add Bounty Hunter's in and now you can get ganked anyplace, anytime, if you PvP -- even after you're done fighting and have reacquired your good gear.
People are going to quit in droves -- most of them PvPers -- when this goes live. It's the stupidest damn idea I've heard all month. In OTHER games it might work -- but not after three months of no penalty PvP in a game BUILT on trying to get people to participate in a war.
There will be no casual PvP anymore, and this will drive off a lot of the hardcore. They're hammering nails into the damn coffin here. What the heck are they smoking?
I do not see it working. Why would anyone walk around with a bounty on their head when they could just have their friend kill them and collect the bounty and the item. And if there are still people with more than one account they could just have their other character kill them. It would be an easy way to make money, kill someone and collect the bounty they put on you.
Fair point.
I think you'll also find everyone will be using their droids more. Therefore more Star warsy!! And the need for batteries will keep crafters in business.
Erm, where's the emot for sarcasm?? ??

I quit long ago...
But when a bH kills you u can hire BH to kill the BH. Chain of living. No BH are safe. Who is the hunter?

It's still an exploit. Not all pvpers are full time PVP. This will be abused.

While I do not agree with most posts against the new PvP, there are a few valid concerns:
a) The PvP penalty is quite more severe than the PvE one, which would deter people from PvPing. What's the fun in a GCW where only a small minority of players participates? Similarly, it could lead to naked fights.
b) As Andraaxx said, the Bounty system may be exploited by having a friend bounty hunter regularly check for bounties on your head, claim the bounty and return back any lost items.
c) Again they repeat the same mistake of giving Bounty Hunters more content compared to other combat classes. Due to this change in Pub28, the bounty hunter population will once again grow out of proportion, because they seem like a far more profitable and fun class than the rest of the combat classes.

I assumed the players that stuck with the NGE would have been more inclined to PVP. In my last few weeks of pre NGE, i was overt constantly as i hadn't played much that way before. Apart from the decay detering me before, i really enjoyed it (tho not the Bestine gankers, Tw*ts). And come the NGE, i carried on and it seemd the ganker community had lessened, and there was some proper RP PVPing going on. One guy i fought in Mos Eisley wasn't a pvp-er usually either, and stayed overt while trying to finish a quest he was on.
So, the question for me...What's the new incentive for??
Not losing possessions, rather than being able to steal them, seems more important to me. It'll create a class society of really good PVP players, just raking it in, while those just getting up there will lose plenty.
Looks more to me it is in a sense adding neutral pvp faction to the game . I could be wrong though .

An old idea from UO.
It'll be good if they can implement it properly. Wouldn't hold my breath on that though.

And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!
OMG .... Don't you read?
We will be removing the no-drop, no-trade, and bio-link items off a wide variety of items. These will be primarily quest reward items.
This means that nice armor you want to wear and that nice gun you got WILL be subject to the random drop when a player character kills you because it is no longer biolinked. People need to fully think stuff thru before they just assume that they won't lose their best items in their inventory.
These ideas will further alienate the player base. It will also kill PvP as most will not want to risk losing their good stuff should they die. imagine, you got this nice set of armor and someone gets lucky and loots your helmet. LOL what good is the rest of it. Naked PvP will not happen because you will always have that one person that is fully suited with armor and kick everyones asses and get loot from all.
SOE and LA have NO clue what they are doing. They don't play the game per a post from TH or Smedlly or someone that said, "The Devs will be required from now on to play the game a certain percent of the day/week."
I am done with SOE and LA after playing the game since launch. They have shown me that they have no vision on where this game should go. They constantly remove and or nerf skills, abilities, loot, inventory, maintenance, decay, wounds, BF, buffs, and all kinds of other stuff only to add them back later and call them "new".
I have given them $1,100.00 between 2 accounts in 2 years and 7 months. I am tired of paying their salaries for a beta game that was 4 years in the making before it went live 2 yrs and 8 months ago. Let them try to find some 10-16 yrs old or parent that will shell out that kind of money over that length of time.
