The problem is that those videos aren't of actual game play. Not once. They are video promotional tools created to get people to buy the game and the same thing that every game company does with every game.

I was just about to link to this when I saw it already was here.

Yeah - night and day difference.

I will give you that Consoles do an incredible job for $350-400. A computer has a really hard time competing at that price range. But if you are comparing quality, not budget, then the PC takes it all the way to (from?) the bank.

I love my ps4, and all consoles I have ever owned. To argue over something like this is so child like. PC/consoles all have their place in the gamer world.

If I never played consoles because of inferior hardware, I would have missed out on some of the greatest games ever made.

I honestly don't understand the console vs PC debate.  Both have very good reasons why they are viable forms of gaming entertainment for their own reasons. I enjoy playing games on tons of different hardware. I have a few games I play on my phone here and there, a PS Vita, a PS4 and  a PC.  It's fun to play Minecraft on my old Xbox 360 with my son because of the split screen.  Is PC optimal for solo play? Sure.  They are all totally different experiences and I'm not sure why people overly compare them all instead of just enjoying them or allowing others to enjoy as they see fit.  I don't see why people use sensationalism  or elitism to force people to adopt their viewpoints, particularly gaming.  Just have fun and let others too image

I have to agree, and I am a gamer who has never owned and probably will never own a console. Both have their place as do smart phones and tablets.

If the platform doesnt matter why bought a new gen console on every release ???  Why people are buying remastered version of pre-existing game on xone/ps4 ?

Of course a good game is always better, it obvious. But the hardware the game is running on will influence your experience. And if you are passionate you want the best experience possible.  If you just take wathever game devolloper give to you , fine but you are just consuming videogame as a pastime its not a passion.

Oh and this discussion is about the present and future of gaming so your comment of past gaming is irrelevant.

That said, fancy graphics don't mean much if you dislike the console game style. Even when played on the PC, I cannot stand games that were designed for consoles.

You must of learned that from  Hilary Clitons Adult Fun camps huh. If you cant see the difference in a game at 30 fps, and a game running at 60fps, I honestly think you need to go get your eyes checked. My guess is some how you put your monitor on 30hz instead of 60 or something. BTW for some real knowledge i suggest you check out some real science instead of Hilarys fun camps. The human eye sees something 1000fps, so i guess your DNA just made you not be able to see very well, and you are like in slow motion all the time, when cars move by you they skip dont they haha.

Wow you're on a mission lol. Im sorry you are completely twisting my words for some self serving agenda. I play new unique games, and I go where they go. PC, handheld, console, arcade, wherever. Been gaming that way my whole life and I don't compromise.

Well I think Honda accords are the fastest cars, cause they are Hondas. The power that a high end pcs have are so far beyond a ps4, that nothing on it could ever compare to a PC. Some peoples PC can run 4k rez at 60fps. The ps4 has trouble running bf4 at 1080p 60fps................. The ps4 would not be able to even run Skyrim fully modded............... I mean seriously I think after reading this thread I went back to the dark ages or something. I stopped reading when some one busted out humans cant see past 30fps, so when cars drive by, they just skip by for him, his mom mouth yelling at him looks skipping, to the words haha.

So since this is so very very hard for you to grasp, its as simple as this. A 140hp honda Accord, is never never never never ever ever beat, a Honda B18c1 turbo with 400hp, it just anit gonna happen . Just like double shit radeon 7 low end series graphic cards, and a really really really really really really bad 1ghz amd processor, is never gonna be quad 980 GTXs water cooled over clocked, with a 5ghz 5th generation i7................. O yeah ps4 comes with a 5400rpm hard drive to hahahah.

This was a debet on which had the best looking graphics, not your idea of what you think is a viable form of entertainment...... I was trying to have a debate about which had the best graphics, and then this guy came up and BALLS IN MY FACE.

I guess they refer to the whole "cinematic" feel experience at 30 fps that dev used lately to justify hardware limitation. Still infurating people taking marketing crap as biblic word. I guess today people are educating themselves from marketing campaign instead scientific fact. sad ...

I wouldent say they are trolling, it was a rumor started, by some old blind guy, who never played a video game in his life, and it just took off. Kinda like the rumor that if you put a cd hanging off your rear view, cops cant get your speed hahaha.

People don't talk enough about optimization when it comes to console gaming.  It's a lot easier to get mileage out of a universal hardware configuration that is dedicated to gaming.  A PC is certainly more powerful hardware, but PC equivalents of a lot of top of the line console titles require much more powerful hardware than what is in a console.

Oh then lets talk about optimization ! The last halo or AC unity were perfectly optimised game /s !!!

Its just two exemple but there is a lot more games in the same state with buggy release, huge patch, gamebraking bug etc...

Old console belief do not work on today gaming as console have almost the same architecture as today PC (except for crappy outdated hardware).

Console used as a specific gaming platform ? not anymore ! they are multitask box with lots of apps in background.

Game finished on disc ? not with online patching, lets just ship the game as is and fix later !

Easy to use, put the disc and play ? Nope you have to install it first and patch and hope everything work !

Old argument in favor of consoles do not work anymore !

All consoles use the same range of hardware (counting for different hard drive sizes and stuff), PCs have vastly different everything from person to person, how can you even make this argument?

Just because consoles can do other things now doesn't mean they aren't mainly built for console games.

Patching is a much easier affair on standardized equipment.

The old arguments work fine from what I see.

    Gameplay > Graphics.

I have played a few next gen console games, and well they look nice, I still think many console games are lacking in game play.

Not sure why this thread is useful at all.  Only read the first ~30 posts and it seems like someone was looking to start a fight and started a thread.

“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

    In a word:  NO

I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

PC use the same range of hardware too, 2 brand of CPU (amd/intel) 2 brand of GPU (amd/nvidia) its not like we have billions of combinations. And even with differents model of gpu/cpu i hope you realise the dev dont need to rewrite the entire game's code.

We just have more options to choose from if we decide to have more power for higher resolution/fps.

But its hard to explain this to people who are conditioned by old belief, big corporate marketing, lazy dev excuse for unfinished game ...

PC is an open plateform, we have the chance to choose from different option and maximise our gaming experience. Low budget : go for a budget gaming PC for 1080/60fps. More money ? Go crazy with 4k or 144fps or just UPGRADE the pc you already have.

Here are the specs of a PS4

    Processor

    • Single-chip custom processor
    • CPU: low power x86-64 AMD “Jaguar”, 8 cores
    • GPU: 1.84 TFLOPS, AMD Radeon™ Graphics Core Next engine
    Memory - GDDR5 8GB

    Optical Drive
    • BD 6xCAV
    • DVD 8xCAV
    I/O - Super-Speed USB (USB 3.0), AUX

    Communication
    • Ethernet (10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T)
    • IEEE 802.11 b/g/n
    • Bluetooth® 2.1 (EDR)
    Output
    • HDMI
    • Digital Output (optical)
This will never change for any PS4 system made with the exception of the hard drive (which I didn't include) or unless Sony starts making them differently.

Now if you go to NCIX's website and we just look at a few categories we find the following

    294 different CPU's for sale
255 different video cards for sale
403 different type of DDR3 ram for sale (123 DDR4 but I wont count that)
    309 different motherboards for sale

Lets ignore the different power supplies, cases, keyboards and mice and stick with the 4 items listed above.
Granted not every single CPU is going to be able to run in every motherboard, or every stick of ram in every motherboard, etc, but I will be damned if I want to figure that out. I could just narrow it down by say socket type and go from there to get a more accurate reading but its almost 4am so feel free to do it if you wish.

Can you then figure out how many different combinations there are for hardware inside PC's? I'll give you a hint, its more than 2.
