tl;dr is Wildstar dead or no?

I played WS in beta.... but didn't buy the game when it launched. Not worth the subscription IMO. I would be interested in playing if it went B2P or F2P though.

I LOVED the game in beta and played for about 2 months after launch. I had to quit when I tried to level another toon and all the non-endgame zones were DEAD. Last week I took advantage of the 10-day free trial because I REALLY wanted to get back into this game. I logged in and the server was DEAD. I was on the PVP server though so I switched to the PVE server and it wasn't much better. Prime time and there were like 3 other people around the AH. The only hope for this game at the point is the B2P option.

    TL;DR: GAME IS DEAD.

I'm going to chime in here. Compared to launch the game is probably "dead" in the sense that there aren't a gazillion people playing. In terms of playing though, the game is very much alive. To me as long as there is a working AH system that allows trading it will be fine...and it is working.  As far as the other major things like dungeons and Battlegrounds I can't currently provide information on those because I just started back up. I have seen a lot of people in the starter areas though and that is also a good sign that people ARE interested in coming back.

Providing incorrect information could lead to someone wanting to play and having fun, and/or skipping a good game all together.

I too used my trial... Started yesterday and having a great time. If you have it...use it. What's it going to hurt? Form your own opinion.

It needs to go B2P just like ESO did. Otherwise, its dead in the water.

I said this before I started playing it again.  Every game starts huge and eventually the niche players remain and making a server what it is, unfortunately this game plummeted into almost nothing. Carbine made a lot of great changes and is offering to show what they did because they believe what was reworked is a good move. Everyone should at least try the trial and see for themselves.! :) Hopefully it will grow a little and a very good game (imo) won't go the way of the Warhammer or SWG.

I quit SWG after 'something something' happened in 2005, but I always followed the game after that disaster and damn, I wished they put out that post 2005 content with dungeons, pvp battlegrounds etc BEFORE 2005. Back then we only had grinds, lacklustre PVP,  player events and Corvette/DWB bunker/Geo Cave dungeons. But it was fun though.

Tried Windstar at Launch, was fun, liked the hilarious background, but it felt as a even more restricted themepark then SWTOR for me. Trying the 10d trial now with new chars on my main account -Don't know where my chars are, all toon slots are empty????- but anyways, see if the game can entertain me this time.

Before this game came out I watched it on youtube and thought it was a disaster, it looked like Walt Disney came back from the grave and vomited on the internet. There was no way I was going to play it! My kids talked me into trying it and within 30 minutes I didn't even notice the cartoony look, but I was hooked on the combat and the music. Gotta love being adaptable!

I will agree 100% with you. The game has greatly improved the last few months and with the upcoming changes / additions of Drop 5 (pets, toys, contracts, D3 like wardrobe, pvp, new UI tracker, new raid / zone / adventure etc) it will be even better.

It needs to go B2P in order to attract more ppl, as in the current mmo market there are already many good mmo's you can play as B2P or even as F2P.

I bought the game but I didn't sub after the first 30 days. Is that the reason I didn't get the 10-day free trial?

I'm downloading it now to take another look.

Check your email. I'm not sure if more were sent out, but I got mine back in February, you may have accidently deleted it. I use gmail and I believe it was under the promotions tab.

edit: I didn't even know I had it until after I re-subbed and my son told me about it! :(

Thanks for answering. I guess I may have deleted it.

I found this video posted within the past week which talks about the current state of WS.

Also, there is a free 10-day trial page, so you don't need an email. That's for people who haven't bought the game. If you've bought the game, you can see a start free trial button in your account management page.

Hey thanks for posting the video.

I guess that most of the changes will really help...it made things easier and that is what everyone wanted I guess. Overall the game was to hard at the end level so once again everything in a title gets nerfed to make it more population friendly. Everyone hates the way WoW has went and yet no one plays games unless they are given the easy path.

Anyway, It would be great if more people come back to the game no matter the difficulty level. It is a shame that Carbine thought they saw the potential in older raid scenarios and harder content in it's initial release. I hope their pride doesn't become the demise of the game and they don't change their subscription model. I would vote B2P right now!

Btw guys, if you play the game and want a better lfg tool, install and use GroupFinder addon, which enables the option to list premade groups in default WS lfg tool, just like in WoW.

I miss this game especially the humour and art. I am coming back. The last time I left due to shoulder and elbow ache. This time I still intend to use my multi button mouse but I am going to play without mouse turn. I know I am not going to be as good but let me see how it goes. Also looking for add on help that might help with the mouse turn but failing which am going to play using the side mouse buttons for skills and not use mouse turn and use the WASD and Q and E for strafe. Let me see how it goes just one month subscription is worth trying to go back to this game. I did love it  so and I enjoyed it. I hope this will still allow me to heal in groups.

    Wish me luck I guess.

I stopped posting about Wildstar on MMORPG because it was pointless.  Far too many people peruse these forums that want every game to fail.  Therefore, I don't think a "revival" will come from here.  To those interested in what the game is like, the 10 day trial will get your foot in the door, and you can see what it is like.  Just know that the first couple levels should be treated like a tutorial, and the telegraphs you see there are nothing like the difficulty of telegraphs in raids.

The only, I will repeat for emphasis, THE ONLY part of the game that is "hardcore" is raids.  Having said that, my guild is progressing through the last raid instance, Datascape, on a 2 day a week schedule.  They are difficult, but you know why you fail each time.  That doesn't make mistakes easier to correct, mind you, but it makes it less frustrating compared to wiping and you aren't sure why.

I like the humor, the art style doesn't bother me because I don't require realism.  I have never RP'd in any game, but I find myself doing it more and more in Wildstar.  Some reason it's fun being a race of humanoid rodents that are obsessed with science and explosions.

Well said on all your points! Well except my tongue in cheek comment on a WS savior from this site! :) I totally get where your coming from.

You sound like your in a good guild! Good luck on your raids!! Maybe if you guys can stream a few it may promote the game. ;)

I'm not sure if this would help you with your physical problems, but I use one of these just because it makes my gaming so much easier. http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/g13-advanced-gameboard It has a small thumb joystick that you may be able to incorporate in your movement.

edit: not sure if you saw the previous posts, but check your email for a free trial that allows you to check out all the changes. /shrug

I use the Razer Tartarus and it makes things so much easier. The thumb directional button is good for dodging stuff, all action buttons, map, inventory, and the "V" button to pickup everything are all configured on it. Just some food for thought.
