i wish more mmo's would try being a bit more original like TSW.. even though the combat drags it down a bit it's awesome setting makes it one of my faves.
if i liked car games i'd definitely try out the crew. i'm desperate for anything non fantasy based.
Exactly man this is just a stupid way to advertise it in my opinion, very lame, i hate this stuff , I'm angry because this was the only game where i tottaly regreted my money spent , after 5-10 hours of playing it. I fall in to the hype for this i really hate this website i never trust them again,i come here only for other ppl comments. This was like 3 years ago but I'm still angry how idiot i was to jump and buy it without any conclusion because of the hype. It was my worst experience in gaming
If you are still angry over an expenditure of $50 dollars three years ago, you have bigger problems, my friend.
I call it full of balloon, because it has no subs means best MMO. There is other MMO worth the money to me with sub and that MMO deliver mega mini expansion every 3 months with 2 patches of contents updates every 2months.
That is the best MMO, you want to know? FFXIV.
GuildWars 2 after 2 years of playing, the amount contents is still not up par. I finished everything under 1 hr on new patch bi-weekly update. Zzzzz nothing else to do.
I got both legendaries + other decked out. Only play 4 hrs per day.
Worst of both worlds model. Eventually box sales peter out, and then the developer has to monetize just like F2P, but the barrier to entry remains. So you limit your number of players, but still end up with the monetization pressure on your devs.
Blech.
That said, TSW is a freakin' awesome game. Closest thing currently to a spiritual successor to City of Heroes.

In my opinion it's a good compromise. The devs get paid, and the players still have access. The monetization can still be non-intrusive, as it's done in GW2, or in f2p games such as Rift, or even in WoW. Not all cash shops require mandatory purchases, contrary to popular belief.

You mean like GW had to?
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
Wow, I don't agree with any of them. I can't imagine anything more boring than driving a car all the time. I don't play MMO's on console. The Secret World is just a copy of Vampire Bloodlines expanded and called something different but VB is better. ESO looks good until you play it for a while, then it gets boring quick since its all been done before except for the "loot almost everything" stuff and the utterly ridiculous "no broker" garbage. And GW2 is so boring there aren't even words because you never have to talk to anyone, even an npc unless you want to buy something, its all autogroup and autoquest.

So you wouldn't have a top 5!? Those are about the only ones to agree on.

Hasn't even been out three years yet, and it's had the most box sales of any B2P MMO yet. Give it time, the shift will come.

Guild Wars which has been out for about 10 years now.

Replace The Crew and Destiny with Guild Wars 1 and its three separate campaigns and you have a much better list full of games that are totally worth purchasing.

Hmmmmmmm, so you are saying that GW2 does NOT warrant a place on the top 5 B2P games? I find it really difficult to think of any other, more worthy B2P games, but feel free to make an argument on how GW2 doesn't deserve to be on the list. An argument other than, "here we go again"
Well if we look at from that angle than we could also advertise the top 5 biggest fails in mmo industry and maybe gw2 would have a place in it
Based on my own knowledge, you may not be wrong, lol.
If I had to choose, that would be Guild Wars 2. An MMO that has almost everything in it. Rich storyline, fast gameplay, interesting 'questing' system etc. Although, there's one MMO that is slightly better than GW2. Final Fantasy XIV. It's not b2p but I would recommend everyone to give it a try.
I know this is personal preference, but Destiny really? If anyone had been keeping up-to-date you would know once HoW drops, and nothings changed players will be leaving en masse. It may have all the staples but it executes them in the most horrid way Imho. On top of that the games been out 7 months they still haven't added vault space or bother to listen to the most simple requests from their community. Promise after promise and the players still wait. The game had potential to be one of the best B2P games, but Activ$ion got their claws into it. Again this is my view based on what I've experienced and read.
Still trying to find the EPIC story they promised 7 months later.
Calling MMO to Destiny is an insult to the MMO genre, how can a game without in game chat, in game guild/party support, call itself Massive Multiplayer Online

Agreed. I think GW1 deserves a place on the list for setting the trend in mmos so long ago and proving the concept works. It still has a lot of charm and some of its mechanics are unique in the implementation (shutdown, interrupt, and the like as class roles). Classes like mesmer that brought a whole new dimension to crowd control.
I love 1 - 3, but right now ESO and LotRO are the main games I'm playing.
The hater posts are hilarious. I love watching them twist in their skin. They say nerd rage is the funniest rage.
The problem is, GW1 is so old now, and it's practically in maintenance mode now.

Wow, this post has shown me that a majority of people are idiots.
They either don't read or they just don't inform themselves before talking about a topic.
BUY - TO - PLAY
So don't bring up WOW or Eve... that's P2P
Don't bring up LOTRO or Rift... don't bring up DCUO... those are F2P...
God.. people annoy me.

lol, yeah. It still amazes me how people interchangeably use B2P and F2P. I think it's due to the cash shops.
1. The Secret World
2. Guild Wars 2
3 - 5. Steaming turds
