The One Piece Online MMORPG is a perfect representation of the experience of watching an episode of One Piece. There are things on the screen, they make sounds and are animated. The sounds are loud, the jokes are meant for 6-year-olds and the characters would seem imaginative if they looked as though they all belonged to the same universe. One Piece Online and the series it is based on is like much of the anime I have experienced, meaning boring.

the moment u called one of the most watched anime shows there is boring i stopped reading...
EDIT: i don't know why u all bash on my comment. but i simply state this because of the fact that the one reviewing is not in anyways reviewing the game. but he is reviewing the whole one piece concept. i know these sort of games are trash. but that doesn't mean anything about the anime.
u can easily compare this to many other games adapted from movies. they are mostly trash also. so please stop making comments that make u look stupid...
Spot on. Its about time someone shows a real review for these "auto-play" MMOs. The anime may be one of the most watched but that doesnt mean anything with that IP has to be good...*cough* SWTOR *cough*.
Now if we can only get real reviews like this for anything and everything from certain publishers, like for instance R2Games, I think this site may be on to something. Keep up the good work.
The problem I had with One Piece was the same I had with DBZ and a lesser extent Bleach and Naruto, everything was dragged out SO LONG (pun intended), although One Piece had alot more substance than DBZ.
Bleach and Naruto managed to keep my interest, except for all the stupid filler >_<
You can not like something and not act like a total horse's arse towards folks that do like it. You don't have to like what I like, but I would like you to respect what I or others like, especially in an 'official' review.
If your a bloody staff writer, your supposed to be able to write and not rant. You can absolutely demolish the game on it's gameplay aspects. As others have said, I didn't read beyond the first paragraph due to the denigration of other people's likes in a review! If it was a rant, sure, so crazy. We all know what to expect from that, this is supposed to be an unbiased review...
Your a D&D fan, you've been hassled enough about that I would suspect or any of your other nerdy habits. I know I have. So your doing the same to others...
Running around as a wizard in a pretend game isn't childish? I like my childish past times, the rest of the week we all pretend to be grownups, I can handle being called childish. That's not what I take umbrage at, it's the vitriol directed at the folks that do like it. And then the cop-out of "It's only my opinion".
If you feel that strongly about it, don't bloody write about it in an 'official' capacity!
The game does look like it isn't the kind of quality we're looking for, but man, you could have presented it better.
A lot of anime adapted from manga series that are still being written have this issue. I lost interest in the 200-300 range with One Piece (they are now close to episode 700), tempo was great the first 100 episodes or so. DBZ isn't my thing. Naruto and Bleach also had a good tempo initially, then it bogged down in filler. I'm not sure I ever finished the original run of Naruto episodes, I'm sure I never finished Bleach. What initially was covered in one episode is later smeared out over 3-5 episodes and then we have the unrelated filler episodes, all aimed at waiting until the manga has covered it first.
Even if they try to make cheap game, at less they should put some though about the original concept.
The Chinese sure know how to make money , even junk that can't recycle can bring profit .+1 - One piece anime is one of my favorite shows that I look forward to watching each week + reading the manga. I find it hard to respect him in this review when he knows nothing about the series; and clearly is unfortunately missing out. One piece is the most watched for a reason; because it is good.
Checked the scoring at the bottom though and it seems spot on. I would have loved to read the full review...but next time, try not to throw dung at fans who adore the artstyle and characters and of course the meat of One Piece the plot which is far from childish by any means. One piece may not be your cup a tea so move on and try something else! Don't Bash My Babeh
[You are wrong] and know nothing of the incredible characters in One Piece that were crafted to perfection. Awesome plot & story that requires a fairly decent attention span; once you get in you become hooked.] [Opinion]
Missing out... b-baka!
ur getting it wrong. the point is to get a review from somebody that has no opinion on one piece whatsoever. i watch one piece, and yes these games are trash. but still how can this be a good review if he bashes on the anime when its something loved by so many.
plus i don't know what anime you tried but wat ur saying makes no sense...
this site is really pushing for lower and lower quality articles eh?
thanks for the expert insight, Beau Hindman!
So you're saying it's unreasonable for someone to find any highly watched anime boring? This has to be one of the more spectacularly stupid comments I've seen on this site.
The problem is not whether One Piece is boring, the problem is why would you send someone who clearly does not like One Piece the anime to review One Piece Online? It's like: let's send someone who hates Final Fantasy to go review Final Fantasy 14 or someone who hates Star Wars go review SWTOR.
It's clearly a niche game designed to appeal to fans of the anime so it's bizarre that they would have someone who does not like the anime review the game.

Oh Beau, you continue to have an opinion nobody likes or agrees with.
Also, out of curiosity, where was the sexism in the game? I've not played, but I was reading through the review and was surprised that despite being bookended in the first paragraph and the final bullets with "sexism", the content of the review contained no mention of gender representation.
Note though, I've not played and have no desire to play the game and have never really been interested in One Piece as a manga/anime. So I've hardly a dog in this race, more just curious.
Dude WTF that was the most half ass review I've seen. Why even bother? You put far less effort into this "review" than the devs put into their game. What a bunch of lazy, vague rhetoric.
I don't understand how people can like anime at all
I loved DBZ when i was a kid and still enjoy the videogames (DBZ universe is awesome ) , funny thing is that DBZ is going to continue this year (DBZ SUPER?) hope it delivers :P
