Destiny: The Daily Quest - Would You Play Destiny on PC?

BillMurphyBillMurphy Former Managing EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 4,565

It's been a contentious topic since the game's announcement several years ago: why isn't Destiny on PC as well as consoles? Well, there's still the off chance that Destiny will make it to the PC, or at least that it will when the sequel comes out. The question is, would you play it?

It's not secret that Destiny's loading screens, small amount of players in a single area, and other issues are a relic of the game's development on older consoles like PS3 and Xbox 360. Perhaps if it had been developed originally for just the PS4 and Xbox One, alongside the PC, we would have seen a game that looks and feels more like a true MMO.

Destiny was a hit though, despite its middling ratings, and a sequel is coming sooner or later. Perhaps we'll even see it announced at this year's E3.  Bungie always said that Destiny could come to the PC, but I'm not so sure we'll see the first game arrive on our hollowed towers. Instead, I think it's far more likely we'll see the quasi-MMO make its PC debut with the sequel, whenever that comes out.

So... would you play Destiny on the PC, or Destiny 2: Electric Boogaloo? Let us know why or why not!

I recently bought a copy of Destiny for my PS4 and I think it's great. Would love to see it on PC with more MMO content.

I played it a hell of a lot on my PS4 stopped playing because i wanted to play it on PC , i think it will thrive if it did and i hope Bungie pay attention and do it before its too late and just another forgotten title.

No I'm plenty happy with it on my XB1.

They just need to drop the support for 360/PS3 already.

Come time for the big fall release, whatever it may be, we're going on 10/9 years of 360/PS3 life, and 2 'ish years since the XB1/PS4 launched.

About time to cut the cord.

If the big fall release isn't next-gen (current gen!) only, I'll be a little disappointed.

Larger worlds, more players, less loading - just bigger, better, more of everything. Anyone releasing new titles in fall/late 2015 for 360/PS3 is holding back the entire industry.

If they DO release Destiny 2 (or whatever) on PC, I hope they hand off the port to a 3rd party. Bungie needs to focus their efforts on the game and player base they've already engaged with on XB1/PS4.

Considering that I don't play consoles, if they want me to play it, It would have to be on PC.

I'm not sure. My RL friends aren't reliable for online gaming and I'm not sure my online friends are really into it. Without the social aspect I don't find it that interesting, there are other games that do solo fps better.

Yes, I've been waiting for it to be on PC and can't really figure why they didn't include a PC version at it's release, seeing as that's really the platform MMO's are built for as a genre.

In words Destiny players can understand:

"I could tell you if I would play this game on PC, I could tell you of the time spent finding buggy loot caves and hearing  bad voice acting, I could tell you of finding Content on the disk that was disabled to sell as DLC."

"But I don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain."

I almost broke down and bought a console because of this game ... I certainly would play it on PC.

They're probably waiting for console sales to dry up before they do a pc release.

yep, once it hits pc it will die fairly quickly and drop to rock bottom prices. Prices that will drive people to not buy the console versions

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women...

I used to be av avid WC2 player.. hundreds of hours, ladders, etc etc.. When SC was announced I was super pumped.. Then Blizzard announced that they were going to delay the Mac release, but still release for PC on time... I haven't played a single second in SC (or SC2) because I always felt like I (Mac user at the time) was being treated like a less important consumer.

Bungie made their decision on who was and wasn't important to them with Destiny (as well as the Halo sequels). I wont be spending a penny on that franchise and probably the company in the future.

Well mac users are a less important market for games.

Unless Activision step down, then unfortunately not. Feel they're holding the game back tbh, all in the name of this 10 year plan.

I could go into detail why, but I don't even have time to explain, why i don't have time to explain.

Still think the description on the back of the games case is a massive troll to the playerbase

Who else cannot wait for the 150 dollar early access edition, season pass and 7 dlc packs not included.
  • cribettcribett Member UncommonPosts: 135
Ten year plan includes breaking the game down in to small parts and palming it off as DLC , as is the go to ove of games today.
  • KanethKaneth Member RarePosts: 2,286
I would play it more if I had a PC copy. I enjoy the game, but none of my online friends that are reliably on own a console. So I limit my console gaming to my off days, and even then I mostly just play on my PC.
  • rojoArcueidrojoArcueid Member EpicPosts: 10,722

    Nope.

Would not purchase that game again in a million years. Started playing again with 2 of my friends and i stop playing after a few minutes. I cant take the amount of grind in a limited space like that. Not even the "its more fun with friends" work in this game for me.

Probably not. If there had been a simultaneous release I would have bought it. But the'res no secrets to it anymore and having seen exactly what it's all about, nah.
