Now that it seems the WildStar going F2P cat is out of the bag, the daily quest is a very short one. Will you or won't you and why?
As a secondary quest: Do you think it will save the game and will NCSoft continue to back it?
Comments
I'd hardly consider this "confirmed" as F2P.
I'm just surprised NCSoft is willing to split profits with Steam. No other NCSoft game is on Steam, I don't believe.
This could just be the 10-day trial, as well.
Do I think F2P will save the game? Yes, possibly. It's really the only option NCSoft has with this title at this point.
No.
Whether the game is F2P B2P or P2P is largely irrelevant, its the game itself that is the problem, i can't see them ditching the cartoony graphics or the combat style, so changes to the subscription model don't improve it in any way
No. Due to two very simple reasons.
MMOs finally replaced social interaction, forced grouping and standing in a line while talking to eachother.
Now we have forced soloing, forced questing and everyone is the hero, without ever having to talk to anyone else. The evolution of multiplayer is here! We won,... right?
Most boring?
Oh, you are one of those people who didn't get past lvl 6...my bad
I already bought the game and didn't really enjoy it enough to continue.
"pay to play", "free to play", "buy to play", doesn't matter to me.
What matters to me is my time. If I don't enjoy something it doesn't matter if it's free, I still won't do it.
If I enjoy something and it requires money then I'll pay the money.
I'm also not a fan of cooked carrots. Wouldn't eat them if they were free or otherwise...

The downfall of this game wasn't it's subscription model in first place.
Let's see how Wildstar developes when its skeleton team creates even less meaningful content being busy to code stuff for a cash shop.
I'll probably log in if it goes F2P. I still have 79 caches to open...
Yes! Playing it now. Would rather it went B2P but whatever brings in more players is fine.
I have no problem with the cartoony look because I love the combat. Plus, those cartoony graphics never stopped millions from playing other titles like WoW or even Minecraft. It's a fun, lighthearted game and that is what counts imo.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
Skeleton team?
Almost all of the head dudes are still in Carbine [mod edit]
To me this game reminds me of TERA. Launched with a subscription based model, and performed terribly. Eventually went F2P with in game bonuses (cosmetic) for those who had bought a physical copy. Created an ingame cash shop mainly focused on cosmetic items and ..BAM! Success and a long running F2P title.
Wildstar already has a solid focus on character customization. And a way to convert real money into game cash. Whether it its or is not going F2P is still up in the air as far as we consumers know, but i really believe it would be the smartest move.
Yes I will try it out again if it goes F2P.
I had fun once, it was terrible.
I always give games 6 months or even a year before I try them so this is going to work out perfectly. Same with the ESO console release.
Thanks for beta testing turkeys!!!
Beta testing? I call it playing and enjoying myself before I'm dead. You only get one chance in life to leave a mark on it, and I'll be damned if I'm going to get sloppy seconds on something important to me, even if it's a video game. So, if you think I was beta testing for you than that's up to you, I just call it living.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
Nope.
For some weird reason this game gave me a splitting headache, and I'm not talking metaphorically. Within two hours of playing this game I would start developing a massive headache that would require me going to bed for a good 8-10 hours.
I can play any other game in my library for multiple hours at a time without even the slightest hint of discomfort, but this game literally caused me physical pain.
As far as F2P being a barrier. Not even slightly. If I can't afford to sub a game, then I'm not living a lifestyle where I should be gaming in the first place.
Yikes! You have limited your gaming to a very small percent of the mmo genre! With the trend moving towards F2P and B2P, you may have to find a new form of entertainment.
Sorry to hear about your headches though. I remember a lot of people getting motion sickness when GW2 released, maybe you have a form of this. /shrug

I already do!
I hope this brings some players back to Nexus some of the best raiding in any game I have ever played. I tried to go back to SWTOR and just could not do it. Moving and fighting is so much more fun.

Yes - I like Wildstar but I am not willing to pay a sub fee for any game, nor am I likely to pay for any game. I know some folks would sub to games if the fee was $50 or $100 a month still and I am fine with that, I understand that we all value things differently, while I like mmorpgs, they just aren't real high on my list. One mans trash is another mans treasure.
- I simply to not play enough to pay any amount of money for a sub fee
- These games go f2p anyhow, in this case at least they just went full out f2p instead of going b2p with a cash shop.
