Sheer madness is the perfect term,no idea how anyone can enjoy something like that.Pure spam with tons of nameplates all over the screen,i could not follow one single combat sequence,it was just a mush of a mess on the screen.
Kind of what i was thinking.. except i was thinking damn..i must be getting old or something. Could not see how anyone would enjoy that mess.
If people want coordination and competition, pvp will need to be instanced like in WoW's Rated Battlegrounds or Arenas.
You're trying to compare that Black Desert garbage to this?
How was that not coordinated? People were focusing on one target, taking down one at a time. In that Black Desert clusterf%$k absolutely nothing was being accomplished.
I never stated it wasn't coordinated. I was merely pointing out the perception of how openworld pvp appears, and that video is a perfect example. Not every DAoC encounter was/is coordinated, or organized either. For every video that shows organization and planning, there are hundreds more encounters that have zerg gameplay.
You obviously missed the point though. I was stating that openworld pvp isn't always coordinated, and it almost always looks like one big cluster**** with lag and spell effects (thus my referencing of the video). In other words, it's not a controlled environment like an esports competition would be.
The funny thing is, people are judging a new game with new players based on this one video. Give it some years after release, and you'll see more established veterans and guilds like you do in DAoC, or any other MMO with world pvp.
And no, i'm not a BD fanboy either. I've been highly critical of it, but let's wait and see after a couple years, and you'll see highly organized sieges, like in most openworld pvp/rvr mmos. As a matter of fact, Steparu has uploaded some organized vids in the past. 100 vs. 100 in any MMO is going to be chaotic no matter what.
Anyway, this still doesn't change the fact that openworld pvp will always be spontaneous, in an uncontrolled environment, which is what i was trying to convey.

Ridiculous server lag, your skills lock up and don't work, basically you just walk around and look at the scenery because no one can do anything. Working as intended, right ArenaNet?
I think you mean Warhammer, or Aion, or Swtor, or was that AoC?
This looks a lot better than the first massive battle video I saw. The first one looked like a complete trainwreck. I'm definitely going to try it out when it comes to NA. I just hope this game doesn't suffer from Archeage syndrome..
Dunno if boring, can't say from the vid since it just looks like a bunch of randoms fighting other randoms. Same as GW2...most fun when 2 good guilds met on the battlefield, if against randoms it was meh (and I don't mean fill the map with guildies, 20-30 man group). Idk, depends also on mechanics of the game, is there AOE/heal cap, heal stacking, collision, lag, rez zerging...not very familiar with the game sadly, too old and busy for hyping myself up for things that have no imminent West release dates.
It didnt look coordinated, but doesnt mean there wasnt alot more going on in the map then people think... to me looked like they were pushing ahead, yeah each battle was a cluster fuck, but thats the people who are playing and organizing the thing, has nothing to do with how the game plays..... IF PEOPLE WANT TO BE TACTICAL THEY CAN..... just seems these guys chose not to be... they didnt work as a team or focus on one target, but that doesnt mean that they couldnt have.... just because these guys seemed to be an unorganized mess doesnt mean all battles will be that way, plus i think they were trying to just spam a ton of moves and stuff to see how servers and pcs would handle it.....
this is one of my pet peeves in GW2, too many damn spell/ability effects. you just get to a point where it becomes a complete chaos of bright colors and explody, glittery, spiky, bubbly shit....you cant even see the friken characters anymore, just a complete cluster fuck of effects.
it might as well be looking at a box of firecrackers going off....
I can't believe the comments I'm reading. People crying about effects being in the players way and discrediting the entire game because of it. OF COURSE there is a slider to remove/reduce the effects. You want organized pvp? YOU make it organize. Whose to say they weren't calling all targets on a seperate VoIP? You can if you want! Both groups may have not been organized but if one or the other was then there would be a difference in the outcome of the battle. Jesus bunch of cry babies. You all will never be happy with any MMO that comes out. I use to think the game was a little chaotic until i actually played the game to 50+ and understood the classes/ what was going on and what settings was right for me. It's not hard.
Just cause steparu enjoys playing with max effects doesn't mean he does not know what's going on and mashing buttons. So quick to trash a game ya'll know nothing about.

It is the run of the course for this forum, there are a variety of folk here, but a vocal section of the community seem to want mmos to return to the dark ages and they just trash anything new- and games in general.
Out of interest, since you have played it a lot, what's your take on the game? It looks brilliant to me; the world looks so realistic/immersive in the videos I have seen. How is the crafting, exploration, world, dungeons, pvp? What's your favourite part of the game?
To be honest, for me to go out my way and continuously game on Korea servers, the game has to be top notch. So I'm really enjoying the crafting and housing/workers system. You can hire workers, house them, send them to gather materials for you, build a boat or carriage for trade runs. There is so much you can do in this game that I'm always busy with something. Best thing is you don't need to be rich or high level to do any of those things. Theres so much detail in crafting and buying materials from certain vendors and selling them to other venders in other towns/cities to make big profits. Every city/town has their own warehouse storage and you can increase your storage by buying houses in that city. There is just too much to explain.
The game runs very smoothly and I'm not having any real latency problems playing on a korean server (no vpn needed) which surprised me. Usually any korean server on other games I would delay like hell. Graphics are amazing and as I stated earlier, you can reduce/remove those crazy firecracker effects. The pvp probably needs more work as it is very harsh on players who want to PK random people outside, as you lose Karma and won't be able to do anything in the game if you do. However, Russian server has plans to fix it so it gives me high hopes NA/EU will do the same with pvp to make it enjoyable. The only real pvp with no penalties is GvG which you will see ALOT in this game and its OWGvGPVP.
There is no dungeons at the moment but there are plans to make them. There are Open world dungeons available but nothing to que up. There is no Holy Trinity in this game but some classes have support skills such as the Valkyrie; who has small heals/buffs. I can see in this community the holy trinity is much preferred so i guess if you one of those, you wont enjoy.
I'm only 2 weeks into the game and in a pretty good size english guild, however, I have not experience castle sieges yet. There are more and more english players joining the server everyday to the point where All chat is 50% english lol.
Overall the game is fast pace which i love and the leveling is very quick so you can get deep into the game quicker. SO MUCH TO DO!!!
edit: also there are no teleports in this game. You will be on your horse alot to travel between areas which makes the game feel pretty big and you don't skip any great scenery.

This is cute.
It's like Darkfall but with more colors, less skills and less in-game repercutions :P

Does it? If you look at the video it doesn't lag at all.
Yay... a zergfest.
Seriously, who want's to play crap like that?
i dont get it, ESO has this, GW2 has this, why the hype over 100v100?
you can have 1000 vs 1000 on Planetside 2
So What Now?
more doesn't always translates into better.
