You're praying on the OP as well. He's paying for the game you're playing. Without him, you're staring at a blank screen.

Well, i played many MMO since the beginning of UO and i never regret any subs i did. If somebody are paying for a subscription for 2 years and regret it at the end, i would question my judgment.
"It's not pay2win because you can get the item outside of the cash shop"
It is such a sleazeball argument.
Developers specifically make those items extra grindy, often requiring a person to grind for months to get the same item.
It's a non-argument.
I have chosen to stick with FFXIV, not just because F2P costs too much, it is also that there are so many unreasonable people on F2P forums, who use these kind of arguments that make no sense.
There are more arguments like this, like the sleazeball
"But it is free, you don't have to pay anything, you can just stick with your +1 cloth and lousy gear for the rest of the game, it is STILL FREE".
These arguments are not worth even debating these people over. They are beyond reason.
In another classic fail of logic, I think you are actually talking about arguments that games are not p2w.
I also find arguments about p2w in some games over the top, but usually I find arguments justifying an mmo having a sub at least as dumb, if not moreso.
That said, I have not stopped playing sub-based mmos because of silly reasoning of people on game forums who justify subs, I don't play sub-games because none of them are good enough (not that they are bad, just that there are better games out that happen not to have a sub).

Question: The metallic Blue, Green, and Orange dye that you can ONLY get through Square Enix's cash shop, how do you feel about those?
And the non combatant pets you cannot get except from the cash shop?
Just wondering, as someone who hates free to play games that force you to buy things that aren't in the game or makes things 'extra grindy' so you feel forced into buying them. How do you feel about stuff you CANT get in game you can only get out of game through the cash shop on a PAY TO PLAY game?

You need to be more specific. Are you talking about gear and stats, or convenience items and cosmetics?

I agree with you, but not exactly the best way to argue the subject.
The problem I have with F2P MMOs is simply this: this genre is based largely around character progression. When you allow players to circumvent that progression by spending money, you cheapen the reason to play the game and you shatter the illusion of a virtual world. Whether the goals in your mmo are based around PvE, PvP, or both, selling power has completely compromised the reason your game exists.
Beyond that, its not a matter of what is right and what is wrong. If games can turn a profit, its still a free country where you're allowed to scam consenting adults. Its up to the players to stop paying or much like Vegas, they will still take your money with a smile on their face while claiming they provided you with a service.

nah .. they are preying (and it spells "prey") on whales, which are only a SUBSET of people. And you are right, most f2p players don't pay a thing. Hence the label "free to play".

its quite easy to be competitive in a f2p game w/out spending a single dime.
thats what games like swtor, etc has gone this way. even wildstar will be f2p soon.
no one is forcing anybody to play to these games but why are there so many conmplaints? you dont like it- uninstall.

Because personally I feel it's pretty sleezy.
