Adding new game plus might pull me back to this game. Maybe. It's just a chore to play is the problem. A tab target game with no auto-attack and umpteen different cooldowns to juggle -- not what I want in my leisure time.
So, make it more like a console game, have new game plus, and maybe I'm there.

Played SWTOR from beta up to and including the "f2p" bs. SWTOR was a pretty good story game to me. Not perfect but good. But, like all level based games, it just lost something once you made max level. No more story...just constant GRIND for gear. F2p did not help that at all. Game became, even before f2p, far to repetitive once you hit max level.
Now, could there be a SWTOR 2 in the works? Maybe....but not likely. It is far more likely that they (EA/Bio) will not put the resources into another AAA Star Wars MMO for some time. Investors get pretty ansty about medicore returns and trying another go at the MMO with a Star Wars theme would make those investors even more ansty. So, I really do not see it happening.
The most likely new property based on the Star Wars IP will be an attempt by EA to capitalize on the current "big thing":
Star Wars: The MOBA" !!!
It will not compete with SWTOR, thus opening a new revenue stream and potentially making billions of dollars (*cough* everyone knows MOBA's are incredibly profitable... *cough*) for just a few million invested. And MOBA's are apparently cheap, quick and easy to make as well, so they're every board members's dream come true...

Isn´t "Disney Infinity - Star Wars" a type of MOBA? Saw some new footage but couldn´t figure out what the actual gameplay concept is, looks like combat only
Originally posted by rojoArcueid i would totally play a new Star Wars mmorpg... after the SW license expires from EA and someone else takes it.
The way SW;TOR is working out i really wouldn't hold your breath on that happening for several years at least, and in the unlikely event that they did, i don't think any other developer would be all that willing to pick up the licence for it anyway.
No, imo, .... in the sense that the question is presented; probably in a different context.
Later this year EA launch SW Battlefront. to make this game DICE have been back to the filming locations, have been in Pinewood studios etc. etc. to create a portfolio of artwork and sounds in the Frostbite engine.
Recently Bioware used Frostbite to create DA:I using the Frostbite engine. They actually expanded the capabilities of the Frostbite engine as most EA studios are doing these days.
So a portfolio of artwork etc. on the one hand; an "mmo" "rpg" type system on the other.
One option would be for EA to "re-skin" DA:I, write new stories etc. Sounds feasible. A DA:I "mmo" however.
Another option would be to port some of the DA:I mechanics into SW BF and sell that as DLC or maybe a companion game. SW BF is supposed to have some sort of character progression system in place; characters work their way up to become champions; this would simply be another level so to speak. What type of "mmo" this might be however ...?
A third option would be a new mmo. They won't make a new engine however; EA have stated that they are moving away from 1 engine per game; hence Frostbite. So that would mean that new capabilities would have to be added to Frostbite. Possible but probably less likely; they would have all the artwork, character models etc. that they have already created. Possible but, imo, less likely.
Hence my answer. No in the sense of a SWTOR type mmos; entirely possible in the sense of a "small group" mmo-like game.
I've seen these predictions from Reddit some time ago.
And while I do tend to believe these kinds of rumors, since they usually end up being mostly true, I just can't see SWTOR getting an engine overhaul and ported to consoles. It's highly unlikely.

I approve of this.
I read the original post. Thanks.
