Talk about a kick in the balls, so now the only way to fly is to grind your ass off and literally waste my time doing shit I don't want to do so that I can finally get what I should have been able to pay for from the beginning...Blizzard, you can go f**k yourself. Lets not even talk about the disaster that is PvP and garrisons, lets not fix some of these huge glaring problems first or anything.
I left the game in March mostly because of the lack of flying and the drying up of content and this is their way of trying to bring people back when their subs are already on the decline? LOL Blizzard you are utterly clueless and this is pathetically desperate to keep people playing and subbed. This is easily the worst expansion they have released yet and this might be the expansion that kills this game for me completely.
Funny how different the opinions are. I would rather you and everyone else never be able to fly in Draenor (until the content is outdated), and that Blizzard would stick to their original design decision. But they're giving in to the whining. Be happy the ability is there at all and you only have to do it on one character.
It's not about whining at all. They could've stopped adding flying after BC. They never did though, and they waited 4 expansions later. So now they are reaping what they sowed. Would you say the same thing if they removed mounts completely, and made it more like GW2? Obviously not.
Originally posted by natpick well that ought to keep people subbed right?thats all this is about, flying was going to be patched in anyway at a later date, rather synical if you ask me.you would be suprised at how many people will come back to to wow just for this.
Ha ha. Yeah, an extremely long and boring grind to allow me to fly over a tiny collecton of zones - one of which is perma-blocked anyway - is really going to bring me back.

I'm Pretty lost here as well.
If they did, it was a stupid and lazy idea to do so - and was only put in place to disguise how incredibly small Draenor is and that even so it hadn't been completely rendered. Only hardcore players wanted 'no flying, and so social and casual players have been leaving in droves apparently. I am not coming back myself because I was deeply disappointed by Draenor.
Blizzard still thinks that if they just keep adding more grind to the game, people will eventually start to like it.
If you think that getting the achievement to fly is a grind then you obviously havent played Korean or Japanese MMORPG's. The MMO's created by Koreans pretty much define the words "Grind Fest". In Lineage 2 made by NCsoft and ported to the US by NCsoft America it is next to impossible to go from 1 to max level(even though as the game stands now there is no max level) in the same amount of time it takes to go from 1 - 100 in WoW. You are looking at easily 1 to 1 and a Half Years of solid game play to get to the higher levels.

And what of those who did the killing? Is happiness to be found in a future that is grasped with blood stained hands? Is that the truth?"

They give you content to achieve flight and you still complain about "drying up content".
imo the no flight was to enhance the gameplay by making us explore areas on mounts, somewhat like GW2 does. It's a huge game with some of the most content of any title, and you are worried about flying in a new area? It's minor in the grand scheme of the game.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

Its also a strong case of entitlement.
Its like you are complaining that Blizzard owes you easy flying.
Welp, way to trivialize the entire expansion. There's so much to see and bonuses to be had for mounts/ground travel through garrisons but enough people whined and look at this!
One of the best aspects of the entire expansion is being ruined, yet again. Glad I decided to move on when I did, knew the whiners would always win and ruin the best content.
If you think a patch that adds flight to Draenor ruins a game then you didnt play Star Wars Galaxies when then SOE introduced the Combat Upgrade Patch. The patch that turned the hard to get Jedi Class which originally required you to specialize in to 6 different ability trees into a scripted quest that had the write up on the official forums. Or the New Game Enhancement Patch which turned a skill based game where you had to use the skill in order to increase its ability level to a level based game. The NGE also turned the Jedi Class from a scripted quest into a class that everyone could start in player creation. In my opinion the Combat Upgrade Patch was the precursor to the death of Star Wars Galaxies with the NGE being the straw that broke the proverbial camels back. One week after the release of the NGE at least 300K players left the game. Until companies like Blizzard or BioWare release a patch that is as bad or worse than the NGE was for Star Wars Galaxies the games are perfectly fine. Just for the record the number of accounts Pre-NGE was near 400K for which at that time was one of the most active MMO's out as Star Wars Galacies was released before World of Warcraft was released.

This is but another back pedaling compromise Blizzard has done. I dont know why anyone is surprised. Blizzard has never followed through on anything relevant since The Burning Crusade.

Actually even before that during Vanilla they made some outrageous claims. If you can get your hand on the User Manual for Vanilla WoW you will see that you could play a Dwarf Mage but in reality they didnt add the Mage class until Panderia along with the Warlock class. The story for the Night Elf also changed. In Vanilla the storyline said that Night ELves would never be allowed the Mage class. Yet in Mists of Panderia you was allowed to roll a Night Elf Mage. Like I stated in a previous to post "Well to quote Sean Connery's wife when he claimed he would never do another James Bond film "Never say Never""

I would say Blizzard owes people who spent real money on flying mounts. Either re-instate flying as it's been in the past or offer refunds to people who bought the mounts.
Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.
A: So having good, rational reasons to keep flying is now "whining".... right.
B: I'll play whatever game I like and enjoy the parts I wish to enjoy thank you.
Since you're a "thinker", come up with a good reason to remove a feature that has existed for 3 expansions and that a large portion of the player base enjoy that has better arguments then just "because I personally just don't like it".
A: Because so much of the discussion around flying have been mature and rational. Kudos to you personally if you keept it that way... But if so you have been in the minority.
B: Ofc you do...
Now as for a good reason to remove flying....
Well... Let´s see now.... My main is a Druid... He has only gathering profs.... I wonder why.... Generally speaking zoom n boom gameplay is the best argument as to why flying had to be "nerfed". Will this ever be a "good" reason from a player sho enjoyed the zoom n boom´spoint of view... Nope... But then again nothing short of going back all the way will be... So that is a moot point.
I do not agree with all choices made by Blizzard (and the WoD change have cost me my druids life once or twice due to how flightform works. But here is the thing... Flying is and have always been a convenience tool, never really a integral part of the gameplay (outside of some weird mini.-games)

Why... They work perfectly in 90% of the world and now in 100% with some effort.
Also IIRC some of those flying mounts where sold back when only outland and icecrown was flyable. So... Nope.
Sadly I unsubbed a month ago and will NOT be back for this.
I too cancelled my account last night. Resubbed after a six month hiatus. Hit 100. Started the gear treadmill. Meh, been there done that. Ran some old dungeons for some neat transmog gear and I'm simply just bored of it.
I for one don't really understand the huge hub-bub about flying. I'm navigating Draenor just fine on land. Flying would be nice, but its not a reason for me to quit. I'm honestly just bored of the game in its entirety.

i'm pretty sure that's the case with many of these people crying about not being able to fly aswell. when they get flying they still wont be happy because they refuse to realise that they are just bored and are looking for excuses to carry on.
i seriously doubt this will have much of an impact on the subs.

This is totally not worth it to me. What do I do in WoW?
Arena, BG, fly to Ashran randomly when I'm buying gear. Sit outside Stormwind or Org.
Heck, I probably wouldn't of even bought the flying license like you needed in LK to fly lol.
"However, whilst we firmly believe that keeping your feet on the ground is a key part of discovery in WoW, we also recognize that ....."
It is very, very hard not to add a cynical comment. I shall however refrain.

I can see it being useful for archaeology or leveling alts though, but i doubt that grind would be worth it for a lot of people. lol.

All the decisions they've made in WoD makes me wonder how they'll handle the next expansion.
Surely they will learn from the mistakes they've made and now know what not to do.
Here's hoping for sandbox WoW in the next one.
This is but another back pedaling compromise Blizzard has done. I dont know why anyone is surprised. Blizzard has never followed through on anything relevant since The Burning Crusade.
Played: UO, LotR, WoW, SWG, DDO, AoC, EVE, Warhammer, TF2, EQ2, SWTOR, TSW, CSS, KF, L4D, AoW, WoT

Tired of: Linear quest games, dailies, and dumbed down games

Seems to me like they are trying to stop a huge gash with a band aid with sub drops. Very curious to see the next 2 quarter reports (Q2 & Q3).
