Still GW1 is far more original and therefore more fun. I got bored of GW2 much faster, sadly.

Hmm, they want me to pay £31 for an expansion to a game I paid £40 for 3 years ago.

    OK.

    There is NO miracle patch.

95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.

    Hope is not a stategy.

Not only is there not a $30 option, you also have to pay an additional $10 for a character slot to make your revenant because they don't provide one in the base pack.

Anet- you fooled me once, you wont fool me twice!

And there is still no dx11 support- the game looks dated and the spell effects makes me wanna vomit.

-New Legendary weapon skins. My guess is you'll have to gring for them in the new zones so.available only to HoT players.

So for people who already have GW2, that is what is available with the expansion... Jeeze, that is a small expansion... Not even a new race either. ArenaNet is really being cheap it seems. There expansion price sure isn't cheap though. Hell will freeze over before I pay that price.

    So dont. Bye.

Relax.  Not everyone is going to like GW2 or it's expansion.  You don't have to defend the game in every post.  lol.

You made that clear months ago. As i said dont buy it and cyas in a year or two.

If this were like GW1's expansions that doubled the game's content, I'd buy it. However, HoT seems to be more like 20% of the original's content for the 60$ I'd have to pay to get Revenant. Hah. No thanks.
  • dotdotdashdotdotdash Member UncommonPosts: 488

Regardless of how much it costs for ANet to run the game, which is pennies at this point, or how much they give away as free updates, which is very little at this point, they have overpriced their content offering and failed miserably to factor in existing payers in their equations.

    That's their fault, not ours.

  • dotdotdashdotdotdash Member UncommonPosts: 488

Also, it's a bait-and-switch scheme and it's probably almost certainly and definitely illegal.

Wonder what game you dont think as ripoff.

If you think 50$ is overpriced after 3 years COMPLETELY FREE content updates...well....quit MMOs, hell quit gaming in general, its clearly TOO expencive for you (and get a job).

You can take up a hobby like....watching grass grow. Thats seems more in line with your sense of value, you know its free.

People are judging the value of the expansion, not the base game and the content updates that came before it.  Why are you so hostile though?  You act irrational in your posts.  It's probably best to ignore you.

Yeah, and lets forget 16 months of 15/month with NO content whatsoever. Thats 240$.+60= 300$.

Value of exapnsion is incomparably more than any P2P game, and in line with other F2P/B2P games.

    So whats your point?

More than a P2P game? This expansion is not even in the same ballpark as far as content when compared with the FFXIV expansion which is cheaper.

And which you already threw in 300$ in, WILL HAVE TO PAY ANOTHER 15/month TO JUST LOG IN, have cash shop AND charge another 40 for expansion.

So, 340+15/month vs 50. I guess in your alternate univers thats the same.

It didnt even have more content for that 290$ more rofl

FFXIV cheaper...basic math is hard for some.

"* FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward does not come with a free trial period."

So to play FFXIV expansion you need to pay AT LEAST 53 EUROS, and HOT is 45 EUROS.

Hows FFXIV cheaper again? And that difference will just get wider and wider with EVERY MANDATORY MONTHLY PAYMENT IN FFXIV:

  • nadrian3knadrian3k Member UncommonPosts: 101

For those 15$/month not only do u get a ton of content but customer support is 10x better. You had in GW2 how many months of nothing to do?

Also please..90% of ppl in b2p or f2p games will use cash to buy items. The minimum amount you can buy is 10$ / euros...and very few actually use the conversion system because of the ratios.

Sry but even the smallest amount of experience would tell you b2p or f2p games with cash shop make either the same amount of money over time or even better. The only mmo on the market that does better then gw2 in income is WoW for obvious reasons and should not even be taken in consideration.

Don't trust me? just google ncsoft income figures and you will have your answer on how "bad" GW2 is doing on the income part. They are public.

Sry your point is ignorant of real life facts. Personally i would have gladly and still would gladly pay 15$/month rather then get this bullshit i am now.

Who said I subscribe for that entire time. Also, the content releases between expansions are significantly more substantial in FFXIV.  Just look at the forums over Anet. It seems like a lot of people feel the same way about the content and price of HoT.

And what about someone who bought the game a month ago? The official FAQ stated that you would need to own the base game to play Heart of Thorns. Now, they've done an about-turn and will include the base game with the standard edition of Heart of Thorns. Someone who paid for the game a month ago didn't have access to 3 years worth of Living Story content to lighten the blow. If they'd waited a bit longer, they could have had the base game + Heart of Thorns for the same price that they will now have to purchase just Heart of Thorns for.

  • nadrian3knadrian3k Member UncommonPosts: 101

Strange because i have been playing FFXIV for 2 years now almost and i still don't get bored compared to GW2. Also no need to use cash shop at all ..never used it.

I am happy that i pay 15/month because so far there hasn't been a day in these almost 2 years that i got bored and felt limited.

Each with his own experience i guess. Good luck with your 1 class, 1 map, ancient DirectX and 32bit, 50$ expansion. I am sure it will be worth all your money :)

As for me, i take in consideration the value of my money over the value of a product. If a product is not up to my standards then it's not worth my money. That simple.

HoT price tag is NOT worth the money imo. You are looking at paying the same amount of money for an expansion as you did for the original game on release...it is absolutely absurd....almost unheard off. If you are OK with that go on ahead.

And? Someone who paid 10$ for a game month ago should not complain. Noone paid 60$ few months ago.

And you still need base game to play HOT.

It isn't the quantity of content. It is the quality of the content. A few hours of content every other week doesn't even compare to the quarterly content that was given in FFXIV. People didn't complain about the amount of content in GW2, they complained about the temporary nature of it.

Definitely nothing here to lure me back...I guess Arenanet just looking to dope their current playerbase into buying this crap.  I can't see it bringing many former players back active.

Never bothered with this game.  This new expansion won't entice me either.  I don't understand all the FFXIV nonsense on this thread either, it certainly is not a good game either and I have taken 3 tries at that one.
  • ShattenShatten Member UncommonPosts: 40

someone asked about why no option to buy just the expansion on @guildwars2 twitter but the staff only answer that  its a bundle discount for new people but no mention about veteran player or people who own the regular edition.

areananet misleading their veteran playerbase or just being lazy around like a spider waiting for a prey to be caught in their web for big catch $$$
