ARPG - diablo, Path of exile, torchlight This is not an ARPG.

And outside of the camera perspective how is Skyforge different from those? It's like SMITE and mobas. It's just a 3D ARPG.

It's a lot closer to ARPG than it is to MMO.

Its more an MMO like GW1 was an MMO. Only better then GW1 =-) I find a lot of MMOs lacking with respect to teaming. ESO is one a game my wife and I stopped playing just because teaming was such a pain we could not take it. Skyfore though a lobby game still gets teaming done better then a top triple A MMO. Not only can you play all solo content teamed but it makes it easy to add people to your team and the missions scale to make it more of a challenge and give you a better reward. So IMO its more of an MMO then ESO =-)

In the end, like said above, its free to try. If you do try it, remember first 500 prestige is to learn the game and its just ok. 1000 the game starts to take flight and by 2000 prestige your full skill is needed. So being a free game stick around till you get to know the game for what its worth.

I am playing it. I got the $70 founders pack - it's fun. I can see some resemblance to GW1, though GW1 was really built out as a world that happened to be instanced off into sections whereas SF never feels unified, it's like a better vindictus.

Ok, so the OP shared his oppinion allow me to throw mine out there. I have been playing this game since CB and though it -dose- have a cap it is not as bad as it sounds. Last week it was 4.5k sparks this week its 7.2 next week it will go up once more and so on. The cap rises every reset by a certen amount, and even if you do max out on sparks you still havw class sparks, upgrades, badges and plenty more to keep you busy. Now if you are a power gamer and rush to max everything out in 2 days then that is your thing. I personally play for around 4-5 hours a day and im not close to maxing my caps this week.

Unfortunately, I agree. I'd like a new MMO to play, but Skyforge is just a very sloppy and uninspired game. Moving on...

Capped in 18 hrs total play, if it stays like this as much as I like the game Im not going to play orderville for the rest of my time online.  Can be easily capped over a weekend, I hate limitations on gameplay It''s upto the player to decide how much they invest.

Honestly the game is fun for a bit but the new wears off fast right around where you unlock the power to move to other classes, at which point the needed points can become daunting, to put it mildly.  Add in the fact that they keep adding in "buy this to unlock instant access to ____ class" and the game is turning more pay to win and less free to play by the minute, as the collectors ed advertised today unlocks instant access to the knight and alchemist classes. Which means they might just go and let you pay to unlocks all classes.

My opinion on it is a 5 out of 10. The graphics need work, the story is a bit wooden, classes are fun at times but also feel meh. The shear amount of grinding is beyond insane, and it's lacking in customization as well.

First, this game doesn't have a level cap or a distinctly separate endgame. You keep increasing your prestige and unlocking more content over time. It is not known what the effective upper limit is. As such, this game doesn't have an unlimited leveling game phase to burn though that then ends in a transition to an endgame gear grind with weekly limits. Every game I can think of has limits limits after the level cap or before. Weekly raid lock outs, daily quests. limits on gear tokens and reputation gain. Since this game has no transition having limits from the beginning makes some sense.

Second, those who hit the weekly limits after just a day or two are obviously hitting it hard and optimizing their spark gain. These are the same people who will hit a leveling game hard and optimize their exp gain and end up hitting the leveling cap anywhere from a few days to a few weeks in. Here you are simply hitting a new cap and then getting a new expansion each week rather than once every 6 months to 2 years. You are also probably finding that the queues for instances and pvp are not popping because nobody is at your level, just like not being able to raid until the rest of your guild levels up a  month or more later.

Last week, and for anyone during their first week of play, you got a half cap extra share as a starting boost. The cap did go up this week but didn't seem to change much because last week was boosted. Next week will go up a bit more. Your new cap addition each week is based on the age of you character.

The combat is not so very simplistic. Some classes seem simpler in some contexts. The Lightbinder has no real combos but in a group does need to manage targeting back and forth between dps for damage buffs, the tank for shields and timing those shields and the mobs for your own dps. Many of the other classes have basic attack combos to deal with. Most of the classes have some kind of alternate stance to deal with. There are 13 classes and they all play very differently from each other. The Necro is not simply another mage with death spells. It plays nothing like the Cryomancer.

They are watching the caps closely and how people are reacting to them but what is being said in forums by the loudest and whiniest voices is only a small part of it. They are also watching game play numbers. They look out how long it is taking for the average person to cap out. How many are capping out at all. How many hours are being played. How many are played after capping. What are people doing before and after capping. They aren't picking the numbers by throwing a dart.

You are actually completely free to keep playing the game. You are not hard locked out of instances for the week. The rewards change but most of the alternate rewards are still very useful. I was able to collect a lot of resources for my order missions. I was able to collect mores spark replicators which in a way allows me to store some of my effort this week for later during a week where I won't hit the cap. I also having a great time running with lower prestige guildies helping them to work down their caps. This game is a lot of fun with friends.

I kept playing after the cap because I was having fun. I think the combat is a blast. I think the instances and bosses are interesting and become more and more challenging as you progress. If it stops being fun then I will stop playing. It is a game after all.

    All die, so die well.

The orders are just a facebook game I couldn't care less about but guess what Orderville is all you will be doing for 5 out of 7 days between resets.  The Second limit was released today and it was the same as last week (less if you happened to score a few bonus sparks over the cap) so for the second week you would make even less progress than the first. So I say avoid it, don't bother and just play something else. This is just my thots on the matter what you do is up to you, but don't say I didn't warn you.

One of the top 10 worst MMORPG's to actually justify locking progression and being able to hit the progress cap in less then 20 hours and have the other 5+ days playing Farmville, what a joke.

There are a lot of things you can do once you hit the cap. I despise the cap just as much if not more than anyone else but I love every single other thing about the game. If you hit the cap you can still gain tons of prestige through other methods like your order and upgrading your item slots. The cap is something that is going to increase a lot overtime so if anything, make your account and spend some time then drop it off the radar for a while. Come back and your cap is bound to be extremely high but I not sure as to if that will work. Theres the Argus System quests to do as well as the story to help waste time too. PvP gets you tons of gear.

Warning!! If you value your bandwidth do NOT play this game!!

I downloaded and played this game for several hours and eventually logged off to do other things. I have a small program on my desktop that gives me details about my traffic and harddrive space and cpu temp etc. While checking email I noticed there was much more traffic then what I was using so I investigated. Turns out Skyforge was running a seeding torrent in the background. Which means my computer without MY permission was being used as a host for random ppl to download the game from my machine!

You may ask what is the big deal?  Well not everyone has unlimited bandwidth at there use. It also runs when your computer is in sleep mode. Also this was done secretly and without my permission which is a very shady act!

I've deleted the extra folder in hopes to stop this, it didn't work its part of my registry. So thus I'm going to have to delete the game to save on bandwidth.

Please warn others of this sneaky behaviour of this game. If a company cant be honest upfront then who knows what else is being installed on your computer.

If you are a fan of PSO there is a good chance you will enjoy this game.

I've been playing a few days and really enjoying the game. PvP is fun, the dungeons and missions are really enjoyable. To each their own but I would highly recommend you give this game a shot.

I didn't notice this was an issue so thank you for posting about it.  A quick google search confirms itssantos's workaround.  I also came across a developer's reddit post from yesterday and it sounds like they'll be having some internal discussions about the topic.

I had this same issue when I tried LOTRO except their client consumed 100% of my bandwidth from the moment I installed the game.  I remember LOTRO also setup an administrator account without telling me.  Shady installation practices makes it hard not to uninstall immediately but I'm willing to give this team the benefit of the doubt since they've acknowledged the dis-satisfaction of their customers.

Skyforge is about the best F2P (from launch) game that I've played so far.  It's definitely grindy but I like long term progression systems as long as the gameplay can support the grind.

The game is kinda fun will it stay that way who knows........

Instead of listening to everyone else why don't people actually try it for themselves I mean it's free what's the harm if you don't like it uninstall not that hard.........

Mycom settings give you the control over the download and upload speed. Go there and set upload as you wish. These settings are there for you to use and I really cannot understand people who never check everything they install and make changes before accusing companies.

The game is F2P in the future so they have to share the cost of downloads by torrenting I guess. You all want the F2P but complain about the methods used. Welcome to the world where someone eventually pays the cost of what you're enjoying.

I did try the my.com adjustments before posting here and for me it worked, however when I logged off and reloaded the game everything had been reset. :/  Which is what prompted me to delete the extra folder which I believed had no baring to the game play. Also if you have windows running be sure to check your hidden tray icons just incase.

I have read other posts on various sites and many are upset about this. As one member here had mentioned Skyforge developers will look into this.

I will probably continue playing for the rest of the week as that I don't really have anything else to play. I will however keep a close watch of my bandwidth (which was set to max on my.com grrr).  It just really would of been better if the company simple asked if users wanted to be seeders for the game instead of sneaking it in there.
