I would get a hold of vanguard, whatever it took. And maybe given the old horizon mmorpg a spin, with it's old philosophy and goals. Oh and ofc the old warhammer online that never got released. Looked so DAMN GOOD from what little we saw.

Hay this is a good idea.....Vanguard for free while you wait for my up coming Great mmo
I fi were a billionaire I wouldn't have time to think about games lol. I will probably be too busy travelling like crazy and doing all sort of crazy stuff.

True But :
You would eventually have a place to call home, it's human nature.
Across the street from your 80,000,000 house could be that MMO building I talked about. You can go over their and have a cup of coffee, and watch them work. You don't have to stay long, just until your beautiful wife wakes up
If I were a Billionaire, and had more money I can handle or spend, my down time inbetween doing all the real cool stuff Billionaire's do would be making an MMO on the side.
You don't need much money or resources to realize a project. Just look at projects like 'Minecraft' or 'Blair Whitch Project'. You can do much with little.
Fast production, no 7 years in the making. However it will take time no matter how large the developer team. Even dough I'm a Billionaire, I have to be realistic.
There are lots of development related activities that simply need time. Due to interdependencies (e.g. you can't test component A if it isn't ready yet) delays will affect other team members and impede their workflow. Beyond a certain point assigning more resources into the project (e.g. more staff) first leads to more overhead due to coordinating activities.
Get the basics first. Before dreaming about being a bilionaire and having a MMORPG delevoped it's best to have a core team that is capable of handling this.
As an IT Engineer, I wouldn't. As a billionaire, I would probably volounteer somewhere for some time to help people in need.. I would probably not be playing games anymore at all, but enjoy what life has to offer.
If I were a billionaire I would want to enjoy what is left of my life (54 right now) so not that many years to enjoy a healthy life. I would want it stress free. Making an MMORPG dealing with the players is far from stress free... so I will never make one.
If I made a MMO I would make it as a Player... in other words making a profit from it would not be number one priority. MMOs don't make good businesses in my opinion because the game suffers and players are disappointed when real life business decisions trump the ingame experience just because an Investor wants a good return on their Investment. Frankly, IMO, those Investors should look elsewhere to make money if the desires of the Players and the Devs aren't foremost in their minds. Also I feel some Devs are in the genre for all the wrong reasons, wrong in my eyes anyways.
So yes, if I was a billionaire I would make a MMO, but I would put the Players and Devs first, make a great MMO, and profits would be a secondary consideration. Like an Artform should be (my opinion of course).
However... I would NOT make a MMO, not now. The Players that were originally attracted to MMOs, that generation of Players with their own uniqueness and personalities and outlook are what made MMOs back then awesome (it wasn't the game itself, but who played it and made it that made MMOs a great experience IMO)... and now... with the MMO Players that have been primarily marketed to, been targeted as the preferred custom base for most current MMOs... I would NOT want to spend years to develop a MMO for Players that don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. The Players that made the genre great years ago are for the most part gone forever, and the millions of new Players that MMO Publishers sought to replace them with, in my opinions are a completely different generation, and it definitely shows.
short version...
If I was billionaire 15 years ago... yes I would make a MMO...
If I was a billionaire NOW..... No I would not make a MMO....
due to the Players of the genre in each time period. For that reason and that reason alone.

But being a Billionaire you can have your team do everything, including running it....Just pop in now and then and give your two cents. You don't even need to know whet your talking about. But make sure you have a manager with the guts to tell you to shut up if your crazed ideas are too silly.
That's one of the great thing about being a Billionaire

If I had $80 million, I could make myself a billionaire in 12 years.

If I had $80 million, I'd be dead a year from now but man it would be one hell of a year.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.
