Star Wars: Uprising is one of a handful of new MMOs making their way to the mobile scene this year. I know we’re all PC enthusiasts here at MMORPG.com, but let’s make no bones about it: if the mobile gaming world can make a solid MMO, I’ll gladly take notice and play the crap out of it. Luckily, with Daniel Erickson at the helm, Kabam RPG seems to be doing just that with Star Wars: Uprising. Oh, and it’s the first game coming out that is tied directly into the new canon.

I'd love this to be true but touch screen controls don't work in my world. In fact touch screen interface is horrible thing for (most but not all) games. It hurts that much more since I am such a Star Wars nerd :(

Meh, I'll give it a shot when I can play it on my Surface.

I can't stand Daniel Erickson. The guy is completely oblivious... The dude pretty much laughed at everyone who wanted to "feel like part of the world" during the development of SWTOR. SWTOR was a flop. While it does have a current and small player base, it's absolutely nothing to what this game could have been. The reason it hasn't been shut down as of yet is because it's a Star Wars title. If the same game was anything else, it would be gone by now.

How do you know what it could have been.  SWG was just as much of a flop.

Since when did SWTOR have a small player base? Compared to what? WOW? EL OH EL Also The reason it hasnt shut down is because people are playing it. Whether that be KOTOR fans, SW fans, or MMO lovers.. people are playing it thats why its still here. If I were a betting man, I'd say this game will be around for another 10 years or so as long as they continue to provide content for its player-base. How can you say its not what it could have been? Where you there during development? How do you know what it -could have- been?

Thanks to Disney all games are Legends and instead of making the first official cannon game something genuinely amazing to tie in with the new movie we get a quick cop out tablet game. Guess they'll be going the Marvel route.

I followed SWToR from day one. I was following the game before there was an official site, digging up rumors of the game being made. The number of people following the game vs the number of people that stuck around did not add up. The forums and beta forums were filled with feedback about the direction of many topics and DE was very firm of staying the path no matter what people said. I seen many a thread on the beta forums just get ignored or deleted not matter how many times players were screaming to be heard. DE was always at the front of dismissing the problems and saying they were for the good of the game. Its SW, it should have had mill + subs. To keep going they had to go F2P and many of the problems the game had were only fixed after DE left. For most that was to little to late.

Only a fool would think the game would have 1 million+ subs in this day and age.  Star Wars fans can not even agree on what is good in Star Wars.  Much less be willing to pay $15 a month with everything else that is out there.  SWG that people think was wonderful could not pull crap for a Star Wars game.  People have a lot of delusional ideas created by WoW's success about what an IP alone can pull in and substain.  SWTOR seems to be doing better than a lot of games out right now.

SWTOR is one of the more successful MMOs right now.

Looks like just another repetitive Diablo / Torchlight clone. But could be somewhat fun on mobile if they stray away from intrusive microtransactions (I have low expectations).

The ideas and expectations of many forum goers during SW:TOR's development were very much worth laughing at. No matter what you people say, it's currently a very active game.

Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

A tablet is not the platform for this IP's player base.

As if it could exist, without being payed for.
F2P means you get what you paid for. Pay nothing, get nothing.
    Even telemarketers wouldn't think that.
It costs money to play.  Therefore P2W.

The action combat and flexible builds sound nice. But the instanced content, mobile only devices is a down for me. Next!
    Download BlueStack,... issue fixed!

Why is this even on MMORPG.com? it's an APP for lazy Millennials and their touch screen tablets and phones. PS FYI I am 49 and play SWTOR and the only complaint that I have with the game is the lack of originality with the 2 space layers that are arcade rip offs. And despite the hatred that is directed at Sony and Lucas Arts over SWG that game survived the purge...and thrived with the new game exp. I enjoyed the space layer in that game....where else can you and your buddies jump in a gun ship and go to deep space to fight. I loved my Y-wing 2 seat config.

And the first game to roll off on the new movies skirts is a faceplant... When will they ever learn?

I had hoped that Daniel Erickson would have realized that he sucks and left the business. What poor fortune it is for gamers that he is not only in game design still but is allowed to touch the Star Wars franchise. Fuck Daniel Erickson, fuck him with a rusty spoon

I'm sorry. I do not care. I will hardly ever care about a StarWars game, including the upcoming travesty of Battlefront: Not Your Childhood's StarWars FPS, simply because the geniuses at the top thought it was the brightest idea to cancel 1313.

They could not possibly have made the type of game you wanted with the engine they had so what choice did he have?  What was he suppose to say? Oops we bought a terrible engine and spent tens of millions trying to upgrade it but it's still terrible so hope you like small linear zones?
