Zero and have no plans to ever contribute to one.  I personally think Kickstarter is a awful place to fund MMOs and why so many with successful campaigns have already failed.

I personally am not into putting money out without getting something right then and there, I'm not really into the idea of strangers and IOU's... Same goes for pre-order deals.

Zero invested and I never will. I prefer to pay for finished products.

Weird usually there's an indicator at the top of a post saying which way you voted.. Bugged or removed?

I really like where Crowfall is going, so I put a decent bit into that. Other than that, I back more of the indie SP games than the MMOs. I liek Repop, but the slow development speed and no roadmap is what keeps me from putting any money there.

I thought that was a great feature.  Most people would state it right up front anyway.  Nothing for me right now but watching a few.

Maybe an option when creating the poll.  that would make sense incase it is a sensitive issue. . which are many here :)

lol .. pay for wishful thinking?

Why would i do that when most MMOs are f2p?
  • jmcdermottukjmcdermottuk Member RarePosts: 1,571
Nothing, and that's basically a trust issue. Too many projects get cancelled or change direction for me to fork out for a game in development that could vanish or change into something I have no interest in playing. I'd much rather see the finished product and then decide if it's worth spending money on.

I have pre-ordered in the past but that stopped with SWTOR. Never again.

No, No, ten thousand times NO!  These are donations, gifts etc.  They are not investments.

    Removed!

There is no need for another to know how much financially, another here has invested, unless they want it to known o to be public.

Nothing, unless you count the game I've been programming myself, in which case, the time investment in that is probably worth more than what all of you have paid added together.

25$ in divinity 2, $20 in bards tale v, 20$ in Sword Coast of Legends, and $20 in Umbra. I play ESO, but for free.

It absolutely has given you a large amount of payback.  Designing and writing code is real and gives you much more than wannabe game devs on forums get.

Plus the whole best laid plans thing. :proud:

I've backed a couple.  I don't mind supporting efforts that I might enjoy.  It's not enough to bother me if it doesn't pan out, and if it does pan out, I consider my money well spent.

I voted nothing, but that's only sort of true. I bought  Shroud of the Avatar on a Steam sale. It's not officially released, but I can play it. I also gave Project Gorgon $35 on their Kickstarter, but again I can play it and have been doing so for about two years now. I figured that's fair. In both cases I can play the games I put money out for.

I don't fund mmos in total concept stage. It's just too risky. They rarely end up exactly how they were originally envisioned and that can be disappointing on a certain level.

I rarely even back regular games at this point. I did a few when some Indies were trying to get a foothold, but I don't do that much now. It has to be something I really want and am willing to flush $50 down the drain for.

Shroud of the Avatar is exactly one of the styles of homebrew/grass roots projects, this Poll is targeting.

From the sounds of it, you should've voted $50 or higher..

I put $250 down on Crowfall as it's just about the only MMO that I'm interested in/has caught my interest (excluding Bless Online) and I felt that 7 years of VIP was well worth the amount I put in. I usually only pledge to VN translations or anime projects though (Shenmue 3 is my only other outside of that category).

None.  Nothing against the games.  I don't find anything compelling about putting money into a game on the promise it will be good.

I am not contributing any more than I already have till I see how SC turns out. That has the potential to just kill kick starter for many an indie developer.

I have contributed to none so far, I consider most kickstarters to be completely without reliability / trustworthiness.

There is one future MMO however that I might just support financially long before it's launch... I will watch it over the coming months and see what progress is made and see if it maintains it's integrity. (no I won't say which one that is)

I only helped fund three so far, Camelot Unchained ($100), Star Citizen ($60), and Shroud of the Avatar ($60). I had faith every one would be finished and I wanted to see them all get funded. I have yet to play any of them so I did not pay for early access, I paid to help fund so I could enjoy them one day in their finished state.

    -Nothing towards an MMORPG

At this point I have a few EA games though (non mmo) and as far as KS is concerned- I will never give them another dime even though the few projects ive backed have been successful except for one.

Until we have real accountability i'm done with crowdfunding except EA titles on Steam that I can return within 2 days and under 2 hours played or whatever.

I also hate the term "invested"- None of this is investment but its also not really donation either. Investment means taking risk with the potenial to be part of any profit/reward garnered from your money. A donation is (to me- maybe not a legal definition, idk) something I write off on taxes that purports to help people or society. I donate time to a homeless shelter occasionally and donate business services to certain unfortunate people but I do not donate to a company who plans to use my donation to profit themselves. Thats insanity imho.

Semantics on donation and I know im probably 'wrong' - but thats view-
