It's a good game which no one played. I'll check it out when f2p comes as all I have on my account is the 1 month pre paid time which came with the box.
This is a pretty brilliant game. Did my first shiphand mission the other day. It was so unique and fun. Population was always the issue. I'm not sure what replay value it has, but you can at least have one of each faction. I dont like the class locks, and there's a lot of reading needed, though the game has gotten better. Open world pvp is also so fun. I'll not play free to play but with a good pop I'll pvp often.
Good game but for an action rpg, I think tera has it beat with an equally good ftp model.
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed.
You also only need three reasons to uninstall it; it is lazy, derivative and badly designed.
Honestly, people ask why others want this game to fail: Because it is a backwards step, long may lazy developers fail and innovative developers succeed.
Did you even get past the starting area? Again, innovation is not always about something new.
I tried it while it was in beta. I *didn*t get past the starting area, far from it. I probably didn't spend more than five minutes. I don't even know what was wrong, but it didn't feel right. Given that there are so other games (MMO or not), i didn't see any reason to play a game that wasn't fun from the start.
I had no perfomance problems, login troubles or bugs, so it was not because it was in beta. I also have yet to encounter the game that significantly changes between beta and login. And by now, i moved on to other games that eat up my time.
And i didn't even touch the Witcher 3 or Dragon Age 3, and now SC2: LotV is on the horizon. There isn't a single reason to play Wildstar now unless you enjoyed it in beta or so and only the sub kept you from it.
I'll wait to the day's end when the moon is high And then I'll rise with the tide with a lust for life, I'll Amass an army, and we'll harness a horde And then we'll limp across the land until we stand at the shore

Fair enough. There is no reason to play if you don't enjoy it.
My wife and I have been playing it on weekends and having a good time. We'll see what happens when the free to play crowd arrives. Honestly, I'm dreading it a bit
I just tried it. I didn't get far either. I thought the looney tunes in space look wouldn't bother me . I was wrong. The combat was just awful for me. I suppose I am an old tab target type of person.
The only thing that really bugs me about the game is how the combat forces me to stare at the ground more than my character. Oh, I'm not a fan of quest hubs either. However, with that said I'm willing to give it another shot after it officially launches as f2p. Nothing to lose there I guess
Sad to see people ignore such a great game just because one of the races looks cute, combat is excellent, story is interesting and it's now got a great F2P model.
Try it before you judge it so unfairly, because the game was pretty damn good but just lacked players.
There is a good reason it lacked players, it wasn't very good.
I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.
Most people that left the game was by one ore more of the reasons below:
*Badly optimed client
*Overwhelmed by quest, challenges, etc
*Combat too fast for them (older players)
*Combat meh because skills came late
*Too difficult, mostly because lack of knowledge about Moments of Opportunity and wrong builds
*Steppy curve to get Genesis Key
*No end game for non raiders
Guess what, practically all of them have been fixed or addressed. If you don't want to give it a try because you are playing something else is ok, but stop giving lame excuses.
I suppose I fall in to the older player category who just didn't like the combat. How has it changed? I tried it earlier today.
Ehhhh.... GW2 is free now too and its ultimately a better game IMO. Not everyone will agree but IMO it is. I've been having a ball on GW2 now since the population has completely spiked due to people who wanted to play but could never purchase trying the game now. I bought it on release and just didn't really log in much until recently, but it's a great game so far. Wildstar on the other hand was one I was really looking forward to and it seriously let me down on launch. I just don't know if I can bring myself to play it again. Maybe.... I'll log in on F2P launch and see what happens.
The game was fun, but I have to warn folks. The raids are exhausting. After 30 minutes of dodging things on the floor and the air and the walls ect ect my fingers would be in pain for the rest of the night lol.
My opinion,
If you don't want to play then don't. It wasn't only the games obvious unfinished aspects that caused a lot to leave. There were more trolls than the mind can comprehend. WoW fans boys that just wanted to complain on how much better a game that had been out and polished for over 10 years was. Never mind that WoW didn't have most if any of the features in launch they have today.
If you expect any game to not require a grind, not going to happen, at least not an MMO.
The 'Hard Core' mentality was from Frost, he is gone and so is that.
Reading all the 'I'm elite and know everything about an MMO" from a few is nauseating. You're the kind of Troll that caused many problems.
If you really want to play, play. If you're just someone (Troll) that likes to complain about everything then do us all a favor and don't.
Peace

I don't doubt some of what you say is true but not to someone like me. I have moved along the timeline and jumped at MANY new games that came out.I thoroughly enjoyed the advancement in gaming over the years, but now imo we have hit a brick wall.
Now we see a game like WS that does nothing to better gaming,if anything it is taking a step backwards.
Lower end graphics....ummm why? That was Wow's excuse 10 years ago, that no longer flies.
I have seen the word TROLL bantered around more than i care to say.You don't make a game better or appear to better by calling people trolls.
I will tell you how you make a game better. You get after the developer, complain ,if you just sit passive and sit idle and accept what they give you,you will NEVER have a great game.Developers are NOT in this to provide YOU with YOUR great game, they are in this to make money.point is developers will not release their best effort, you only get a push towards their best effort when the community complains.
Case in point FFXIV,community complained, they listened ,they gave a better effort.Imo not a good enough effort but too many it was at least a 50% better effort.Point is that community CARED about their game and wanted it to be the best it can be,they never went around blaming Trolls for the game.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I have been beta testing it. I will probably keep playing. WildStar is cool, just had some issues.
And, MMO games are sort of on a downward track. Just not as popular as they used to be in my opinion.

What else would you call someone who goes to an article about a game they have no intention of playing just to make a negative comment about said game?
I understand saying the T word ;-) many times probably wasn't the best idea but it happened a lot, more in this game than I have ever seen in any MMO I have ever played. I myself have played MMOs for over 15 years so I've seen and played quite a few.
"WildStar: Reloaded update will kick off a lighting pass of pretty much the whole game. That work will extend over the next few updates, starting with the low level starter zones and working our way forward to the higher level ones."
What you said in your last paragraph on how FFXIV handled the negativity worked for them. Unless I'm mistaken, Carbine has done exactly that. Pretty much took most of the complaint's, addressed them and made the game what it should have been at launch.
Remember that 4 years into development the Developers looked at what they had made and said wait a minute, this is the "same as WoW" (many came from Blizzard) and reworked the game instead of launching. I've read that NcSoft rushed the release way before Carbine was comfortable with doing so, It wasn't finished. The game suffered a lot because of that.
I don't currently play but I did and I do plan on giving it another try. If they have done what I've read in reviews and on their forums then I suspect it will be successful. It may have taken 15 months and 5 drops but better late than never.
I've only played a few hours......The queues are intolerable.....It has too much of a WoW influence and too much questing...I hope there is a world to explore at some point and not just quest hub to quest hub.
As an update, we will be extending this downtime. No ETA at this time, but we'll update this thread as soon as possible.
lol, the tactic is, make as many people lose intrest as possible, so when the servers come back, there wont be as many people on, and they can get back to working on the pay 2 win cash shop. With gambling boxes, and gear that is based around the cash shop, or a outrageously long grind.
1) Server maintenance every 2 hours 2) Repeatedly being sent back to character select after picking your character 3) Lag 4) The hamster loading screen. You see that allot. See 2. 5) The lead dev says "Come back in a week".
Should try it huh? Cant get in lol. Takes like 4-6 trys (15 min) to get into the game and when I do I try and leave the house area to a zone I can quest in and I get booted to char select lol. Only to spend another 15 min trying to get back in. Guess I will have to wait till they fix this lol

The graphics aren't low end (IMO), I would say they're medium, to be able to render on more than just a $1200 gaming PC. The Developers are actually working on improving that aspect of the game from what I've read. http://www.wildstar-online.com/en/news/2015-09-24-wildstar-in-a-new-light/
