Well I'd say WoW is the hardest MMORPG out right now as well. And there wasn't even competition last expansion.
That part isn't true.
If you look on average difficulty in the entire game there are plenty harder.
If you instead count the hardest raid in the game you get closer but there are still a few really old games out there that have really hard raids as well, like Everquest. Actually being sure which one has the hardest is impossible to say unless you can find someone who played them about as much and done the hardest content in all of them.
But I give you that Wow have a few really hard raids and some heroics that is far from easy.
I dont know if she is trolling with that comment that WoW is the hardest or somehow really believes it. My 5 yr old nephew was raiding in WoW its first year of release
Not trolling, just doesn't know any better or is only referring to top tier raiding, and even that is more like dancing with the stars IMO.
Many MMORPGS were/are better than WOW in several areas, and WOW of course excels at others.
Which you favor depends on your preferences, especially when it comes to terms like best.

100% outright disagree. WoW has nothing to spark even a tiny bit of interest in me. The combat is such a boring stalemate, idk what you guys enjoy in this game, safe for playing with old buddies that are still there. Quest/Raid grind is 90s ...
Also the game gets extremely easy with a healer buddy around. Idk what's so hard about it. Please enlighten me. I honestly find WildStar more fun. And WildStar is by far not the best MMO.
Is it the lore? But how could it be? In a game with millions of quests ... how do you keep track of the lore outside the "go kill 20 rats and come back" ? TESO clearly nails the lore down.
What's so good about WoW? Rose-tinted glasses perhaps?
It sparked enough interest for you to post about it...
Have you ever healed in WoW? I take it you haven't as the addon is called healbot. So before you say something is easy I recommend you actually try doing it at least on a dungeon or normal raid before you run your mouth.
I could never get into wow, I mean its a very well made mmo but it just felt too hip for my liking like people only play it because all the other kids are playing it or something, Stuff like that doesn't appeal to me. I do wish developers would stop trying to chase the wow gravy train and make something new and original.
ahh thx for the correction , but the point is registereed users mean nothing .... especially comparing f2p ,b2p games to P2P .. holds no water at all
Yes Destiny has - according to Activison's last quarterly report - past 20M sales AND has an average play time of 300 hours per person; they multiplied the two numbers together as well giving 6 billion hours played in c. 9 months. It isn't just registered users. And it will probably have greater revenue in the 12 months from launch compared with 12 months of WoW since WoD (we haven't a full years worth of data yet of course but that is what its looking like looking at the SEC filings). So not best on revenue either.
That is not why DMKano brought up Destiny however. His point is about what is "best" - it is subjective.
And as for crowdfunding you are talking about hiring people who expect a pay check - not easy.
Love you too Paigey ! Yes, I agree WOW is still the #1 released MMO today, which is why also 44% of this community choose to purchase it on launch, 16% were undecided. Sadly, I'm not getting the same value I used to for the $ I'm paying for it. The PvP was the biggest dissapointment, which is an essential side feature for us the hardcore players. The raids last around 3 hours for 2-3 days through the week and I can't have a PvP season lasting for half of the expansion, which is 7 months now.
The lack of participants ia also truly hurting the PvP in general. Finally, the 20 man fixed option for mythic raids was the nail in the coffin. Dealing with 9 others individuals every night was already a hassle, but 19 I don't think so. This is even worse for healing, got 19 healing bars blocking my screen further now and I'm only making 5% diffence where I used to make 10% for clearing content.
I'm not playing anything for the time being. Just recently stopped playing the super casual Marvel Heroes Online and I rarely play my other sandbox private server game. Thx god for other hobbies and awesome friends.
Oh yeah, the guild I used to raid with who was pretty high in US rankings in MoP quit completely after a few 20m attempts, so did a bunch of other guilds, the girl who got me into raiding and played every day hasn't logged on in 3 months. It is not in a good spot currently.
The PvE was made easier with more difficulty gaps, so you have more gear to jump into heroics/mythic, garrisons hand out free gear, dailies are more annoying than ever, the timeless isle clone was not cool, and removing so many abilities that good players used in certain situations for PvE and PvP (Wild Mushrooms while in the air as Boomy in PvE, Hibernate for PvP) the list goes on and on lol.
I started playing my Rogue again with my friend I've spoke with daily since I met him on WoW in 2011, and it's entertaining so far. But I think everybody agrees that Legion has to be extremely good or the game will not be in a good spot at all lol.
When all is said and done, more is always said than done.
Wow is a solid game, but no where near the best mmo. It has smooth animations, a cohesive and interesting art style, a lot of content, and some great world design. However, nearly every other mmo I have played is better overall than WoW.
Wildstar raids are harder than WoW raids. Anyone want to dispute this?
Nearly as subjective and open to personal experience as the OP saying Wow is Best .. I found Wildstar raids no harder .. unless of course you consider having to postion and push the jump button more, harder..
WoW was my 2nd mmo. (Eden Eternal?) or some shit was first. But, WoW is still the only mmo I go back to when I need a fix. Every other mmo I've tried has not come close to the addictive nature of WoW. So, in my opinion, yes, yes it still is the "best MMO".

all the things you listed... ?...how do those other games do them better?
The last expansion was garbage, but you bought it, right? And will buy the next one probably before finding out whether it's garbage or not I guess, right? So why would they bother to make it good? I think if you want the MMORPG genre to develop people need to stop playing WoW.
Well I'd say WoW is the hardest MMORPG out right now as well. And there wasn't even competition last expansion.
If you think WoW is hard, I don't know what to say. It is the most simplest, and easy by design no less, mmo ever devised. Must be you haven't played to many MMOs, if that was your conclusion.
I think you could argue easy and hard at the same time, so in effect, it meets a wide audience. Easy as in it's easy to pick up and get into and you can play to quite a high gear level before any real challenge kicks in, so effectively the casuals have something to cheer. But at the high-end raid level, it's not easy and the stats prove that - so there remains a stepped challenge from day one right until you have had enough (or not). WoW probably has the difficulty thing sewn up in terms of a range from easy to hard.

/facepalm
I remember healing during vanilla... 40 health bars to watch not to mention all the damn bad stuff you had to avoid... and that was before they had the widescreen computer displays they've got now.
WoW is easier than Rift. Easy games attract crappy players and children. This demographic is way more populous than any other MMO demographic. Therefore, WoW is successful.
For a game that is still the best MMO released, I couldn't even get 2 levels into the latest expansion before I dropped it and never looked back.
At one time, I could have agreed with this. Today, it's not even playable to me. I'd go back and play some old P2W Korean grinder before Resubbing to WoW at this point.
Well, if I did go back, it would only be if I had enough faith that the next expansion would turn the ship around and for the purpose of preparing for it's release.
This is a game I quit on and off. This last expansion was garbage and they need Legion to be good, they really do.
But with how easy it is to get hype and funding for a MMO nowadays, there's no reason WoW should be the best MMORPG out right now. That is extremely sad for all other developers, seriously.
I just wanted to say that. Stop trying to make quick money and releasing garbage games, and make something GOOD. Also, stop supporting garbage games. Okay the rant's over.

Destiny has more active players than WoW (no I don't play Destiny either).
Destiny will eventually fizzle out because it has nothing but grind. At least with WoW, you have crafting, large maps to explore, a lot of PvP options, Garrisons, etc...
I played Destiny and it was fun for about a week and the grind was the worst I have ever experienced in an MMO.
DMKano just stop, games can't be compared with colors, especially MMORPG's. MMORPG's are like carved sculptures where you can easily see which one is carved by a child or some amateur and then you can truly see its perfection when it's carved by a true artist.
Even with colors blue, green, red, pink etc are prefered over grey and brown, so just stop. If "fun" and "best" was truly subjective then developers would be just making 432425242324 of pang and tetris sequels today because they are also games that offer strategy, thinking, action, competition and so forth, while costing hundreds if $ or less to produce.
No mmo is the best there all the same comes down to what some people enjoy more then other this days. If wow was the best ever they would not lost so many people and keep on growing for something to be the best, if people still think that way that wow is the best.
