considering this is by far the cheapest mmorpg i ever bought i don't care if its crappy or not.

I been paying over 50 dollars for FFXI,shadowbane,SWG and they are junk.

So i doubt i be crying for losing 25 dollars.

Glottis, while I appreciate your opinion of the game, you seem to be one of the few that just totally think the game blows. Most people, while admitting that it might have some issues to iron out, believe it's a good game, even better than average. Further, of course there is nothing to do in beta but craft and fight mobs. That's what you are supposed to be doing. There's only a tiny fraction of the content in the beta. Remember that the beta is not a demo. As for graphical/server bugs, I have not heard one reputable person speak of any significant bugs like this.

Also, I believe the reason they are not releasing the NDA yet is because of people like Glottis (no personal offense meant here) that are misinformed or dangerously subjective in their opinions. The bottom line is that the game has already gotten good previews by trustworthy sources, Atari is running the show, and the game is being developed by veteran MMORPGers. With these things behind them, I can't believe it would be too bad.

I think what you'll find is people were enamored with the character building, which was definitely interesting and even fun. But the content isn't there and the quests, high level game, community building is...lacking. Not to mention that there were server issues right up until the end. Also the combat reminds a lot of people of Shadowbane, which leads to quick judgements.
I wouldn't say the game blows, but it definitely needs time and work.
Like someone else said, not worth it to pay to test.

as far as Glotis' comments, i will say this-90% of the people i met in the beta feel the same way.  most of the people i met in the beta are gone, long gone, and few are going to buy the game. the ones that are, will because of friends they met there, or the fact that they  know the game and want to be  1337 for a few weeks before everyone else in a mmorpg.

i would love to go into details but i really dont feel like having to think of what im allowed to say or not//so ill wait for nda

Well, while I might be far from "reputable" <wink> I can assure you that the game *does* still have some problems, technical ones, anyway. I was there. I saw 'em. I tested 'em. I reported 'em. If I were the only one experiencing lag or bugs I'd be willing to chalk it up to my system, which isn't all that great. But a friend of mine who's also in beta had some similar trouble. So it ain't just me. <grin>

Now, in answer to Clandestine's earlier question, I've been out of beta for about... lemme see... last time I logged in to do any serious testing was a week ago. It's unlikely they fixed *everything*, but anything's possible.

That said, the game itself is damned good and will be worth buying. I just think I'll wait awhile and let them work the kinks out before I really get into it.

It's always a matter of choice whether to start a MMOG at launch or not.  There are pros and cons either way, and it's a given that launch will have some hiccups...the question is, how many, how deep, and how long?

Those that do start from launch are going to get a pretty good idea how responsive the company is in dealing with them.  That's good info, IMO, if you are intending to spend some time in the MMOG...and let's face it, if you're playing MMOG you are expecting to want to spend some time.  There's also the trail-blazer aspect of it.  If you want to be the one to discover everything, you'll want to be there from the beginning.

On the flip-side, waiting for a stable release isn't a bad idea.  If you don't mind not being the first to discover the easter eggs and hidden gems then waiting for all the immediate kinks to settle is a solid gameplan.  By then you'll have plenty of spoiler sites like Warcry and Stratics with tons of juicy details to help make sense of everything.

You gotta make that choice, really...but it's a given that the first few days will see some heavy hiccups.
