Hope the guvment doesn't come barging through my door.
its not the gov you should be worried about(they cant do shit about things done on the internet most of the time)
but its identity thieves.
the bits of personal info they really need are.
DOB: used verification on the phone and other instances for verification with credit card companies.
Mothers Maiden Name:nothing to worry about if you dont put it down as a security question ever
Address: they can backwards search through real estate records to get you first and last name, then they can possible if they are really good find your DOB or other info.
and if they have any variety of these its possible for them to get your social security number(yes it is possible but somewhat difficult), apply for credit cards in your name, etc.
even if i am being paranoid its still not a fire i even want to think about playing with.

I posted my date of birth on a forum once. The next thing I knew, Dick Cheney came to my door and shot me in the face with a shotgun. Be careful out there.

I am 29 years old and still gaming strong!
Of two of my closest gaming friends, one is late 30's and the other in his 40's.
Some people burn out on it, others don't. The demographics of this industry are in a state of flux. Many of the folks who grew up with the computer revolution are aging, and the average age of a gamer is going up with it. If I recall correctly, the last study done on this showed the average gamer age around 28. Developers need to recognize this, and design games accordingly. We need depth, complexity, and community....because we aren't kids anymore.
I started coming to this site on a regular basis after the demise of SWG. I was mmo-homeless and was researching a new game...I kept finding this site and started reading the forums. I liked the community here and started posting.
Two months later I am still mmo-homeless and have high hopes for upcoming releases.

I don't think the old schoolers have gone far - I just think with the influx of people into the MMO community, many of whom are spastic ADHD l33t speaking feebs, many of the threads here and on actual gamesites have degraded to the point that they arent worth reading/responding to, or have been rehashed 347 times in the past and they think its a new conversation or idea, so its hard to have discussions with them without sounding jaded
MMO homeless... that's such an apt way to phrase it. Maybe that should be the next major site poll, "are you MMO homeless?". It would be nice to see just how many people are in the same boat.

Don't worry Kunou. You aren't the only one that recieves no love.

Thanks for reminding me to use a sig here that I use on the Vault boards.

BTW. Currently in CoV playing on the "unofficial roleplaying server" so I do not normally ask a/s/l/ or "r u a gurl in rl?" type of questions.
However, somebody did and everybody volunteered their ages. If I recall correctly, in a team of eight players....
ONE was 17.
Two were 20s.
Two were 30s.
Two were 40s.
One was 50s.
Errr, so what were you saying about "maturity" and moving on to the more serious real life stuff?
Did you know that the elderly play video games now because it exercises the hands, which often can reduce the effects of arthritis. In addition, the provide intense visual-mental stimulation which is considered beneficial for aging brains. (Which probably means your grandma can pwn you.)
Stop feeling "guilty" about playing games. Entertainment is necessary for the mind.
Everybody has a real life, they shop, the work (or not), they go to school (or not), they have cats and dogs and kids (in that order usually), and maybe a job that is boring and a boss who is a jerk, they exercise and try to eat right, they donate to charity and keep abreast of current events. AND they play MMORPGs.
The stereotypical image of the basement-dwelling nerd-geek gamer could NOT be farther from the truth.
We all can't be Bill Gates (who probably also plays games anyway).
hey I`m still around.................oh wait I dont post enough for anyone to know who I`am but I`m still here, logging in everyday like usual. Old folks just dont make as much noise

anything like that coming from murt is stupid.
murt would post pretending to be drunk, and just look at the off topic does not mean spam thread....

I'm still around every once in a while, when I'm not obsessed with one thing or another...I've found that the more I'm playing MMOs, the less time I have to spend here.
And yeah, where the heck is Kiamde? I noticed he just kind of stopped posting...Gundamit too. Man, I wish I still had my old sig that he made.

Then a girl *blush* and come talking to Kunou...and Kunou would answer her: "Actually, we werent talking about you!"
But it is Kunou who is complaining about the "no love" thingy atm!

Old MMORPG.com members never die.
They just require more frequent patching

I've been around awhile. I never posted much, too busy working or playing MMOG's.
Well you can't spend alll your time on the net..
Most people probably just found out there's better things to do than talking to people online.
