Sorry babe.. the joke is on the ones still playing.

And that'd be you wouldn't it?

Sorry I can't imagine anyone with even half a brain would want either of the previous incarnations of SWG back. They were all horribly boring and tedious added to the fact that you couldn't be a jedi and if you want to play Star Wars I doubt most people would be bothered to want to play anything but.

Enjoy your pity party. You and the EvE guys should get together on how to ruin a good website and write a book.

I guess he has a point...  I mean now, SWG only requires one third of a brain.  He should know!

SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!

I do agree that both the NGE and MxO deserve their 'coaster' awards but ridiculing SOE for MxO is a bit silly and shows how much bias this guy has against the company.   However, he gave it a "Coaster" Pre-NGE and that I dissagree with. Both Pre-CU and post CU SWG were very fun gameplay. It wasn't for everyone but 250k+ people enjoyed it. That's hardly a 'coaster'.

WAY off here man... It was Mythic who shopped it around (with approval), and the deal was for The Matrix IP only. The DC deal has been in discussions for YEARS, and with several companies. This deal was rumored (reported on rumor sites) to have been inked well before the MxO purchase. SOE's stated goal was to turn The Matrix into another EQ: We buy and make cash. They once were good at that, but now...

That's not the way it was sold to ME when I gt the e-mails from them. It was "We bought the DC rights, and by the way, we also got MxO too.

They bought the license. Since WB didn't want to just have MxO without the chance for growth with the DC thing, they got OUT of the MMORPG business.

I stand corrected, by Shayde.  SOE went after the DC licence and got MxO as a fringe benefit on the deal.  My mistake.  Bottom line they only got MxO because they got the DC Licence.

And I'm not sure where MX13 gets his information but Mythic never had anything to do with MxO.  It was produced by Monolith and then released by WB and Sega as an MMO.  When it completely flopped they, SOE, picked it up for a song to throw on it's access pass.  WB didn't want to deal with licencing issues for MxO and SOE wanted another genre for it's Access Pass.

Bottom line:  SOE didn't write it.

And I'd dispute the statement that MxO was 'much better' before SOE got it.  Have they even made any changes other than merging servers?

I for one would say that it's had become worse because, it's one saving grace which was the live events, was cut down!

Well, the merging servers added a mess of lag.

Plus, they totally derailed the events. Events were what made MxO, and it went from stready push to barely trickling out. Content thrived on MxO, and that screetched to a near halt.

That, and their "combat upgrade" scares the piss out of me.

I'm of the personal opinion (as a beta-tester for MxO) that MxO never had a chance right out of the gate.  The gameplay was flawed on a fundamental level right from the start.  I don't think SOE could make it any worse than it was before even if they tried.

Unfertunently there are people who didn't like the trilogy, however, most of those people are the kind that like happy flowery endings and the like. I also loved the idea of an MMO from it, however I don't like the way they went about it. MxO wasn't horrible, it had it's moments while I played and the events were a blast, however it did lack a lot of customization when it comes to designing your character and a bit too many gender based restrictions (okay I can see why they don't want a guy wearing a dress, but come on, what the hell does a hat have to do with gender? havn't they SEEN the club scene, I'm pretty sure most the guys there were not wearing traditional 'male' club gear).

let's hope SOE stops this desaster, otherwise they have good chances to make the hattrick!! image

( although i don't know enough about their new coming mmorpg .... )

( and even if the state of SWG isn't SOE's fault it is SOE's fault...... one should not sign a contract which makes this possible )
