Did not play Matrix, but from the rest which I stopped to play long ago and would like still to be there is Warhammer. Start was buggy but still had a lot of fun. And was only game where I enjoyed PvP. After that I'm interested only to PvE. TR was only game where i played as I remember less then 1 week out of 1 month free sub. At first glance did not look so bad, not sure why, but I did not find it really fun.

As for SW "environment" .... SWTOR covers all my needs, to me is currently my No.1 game of all times, in front of long year gorilla Wow.

Heroes and Villains is the one that I am most excited about. What we have seen looks really good, and they have a good lore developing. This one will likely be the one most like City of X in execution and play. I think we won't see early alpha testing on this one until late in 2016, and the full release will likely be late in 2017 or early on 2018.

Better say mid to late 2018 if you're guessing, because I know you are. HaV is made up of a volunteer crew, has no funding and they need more programmers...like for the past two years. Golden Girl may not even want either of us saying anything about possible release times AT ALL because of the manpower they need and the unpredictability of development with an all-volunteer crew.

Best to just say "It'll happen when it happens" and leave it at that.

I've got a feevah, and the only prescription... is more cowbell.

Tabula Rasa was a really fun MMO. <snip>
<snip> I think TR's largest problem was Richard Garriot's insistence on scrapping everything one too many times which massively drove up development costs (he did this like 2 - 3 times of the course of it). So when it didn't make a buttload of cash and had wasted a bunch of money they kind of just shut it down at that point (I followed TR from it's initial reveal and was actually saddened that garriot deviated so far from his original vision for the game)

Set in space - check; fps shooter - check; mmorpg like - check; huge hit - 20 million players as of last September - check; published by NCSoft - nope.
What in the hell are you talking about with 20 million players mmorpg set in space? Tabua Rasa NEVER pulled those numbers nor has any mmorpg ever including world of warcraft. Tabula Rasa has also been shut down since 2009. I'm not exactly sure why you are responding to my comment with a bunch of literally nonsensical things like at all. Tabula Rasa wasn't a fps, though it was a third person shooter like game and it was an MMORPG.

You must be talking about an entirely different game and genre though as what you are saying makes literally no sense otherwise

Sorry I wasn't obvious enough. I was indeed talking about a different game - hence not published by NCSoft - which, imo, embraces many of the concepts that Richard Garriot seemed to be aiming for. And as of September 2015 it - Destiny - had over 20M players. Which suggests the market was there.

While i get the swg thing i also have to admit it wasnt a good mmo. It had a good premise and a lot of potential but it wasnt good. Come on when i got it you couldnt even jump lol. Could have been great tho

I guessed before clicking this that 3 of the top games would be on the list, didn't expect to see TR on it though and I forgot about Matrix, though it never truly appealed to me, often I found more bugs than little. There was a car combat game that got shut down too that I actually kind of enjoyed but can't seem to recall its name.. It was open world PvE so not like a normal combat game you'd expect with cars :P And by cars I mean like heavy armored jeeps?

How would Hellgate London place on this list ?   Honestly i've not played that many mmo's, especially the older ones, but i remember about the time this launched.  I liked the setting not beeing the usual fantasy. At the time i was still enjoying wow though, so i never gave it a shot.

CoH would probably be my number 1.  I remember following it bask during beta; I was a part of (what became) the CoHGurus community before it was actually the Gurus.  The origin stories and RP we had all created, intertwined with one another through the various supergroups folks created..  Man, that was a lot of fun.

Probably one of the best gaming communities I can ever remember being a part of.

    Warhammer I miss the most.
  • RenantonRenanton Member UncommonPosts: 26
SWG, CoH, Vanguard, E&B, Warhammer...played them all and miss them much. Each had their own spark and I would definitely go back to play again, if they had a population

    Darkfall online
You'll likely be happy to see these two projects:

    Darkfall: Rise of Agon

    Darkfall: New Dawn

Warhammer was a fun game, but I feel like the list is incomplete without Shadowbane.

Warhammer was a lot of fun and suffered a fate much worse than it deserved.

    Yeah, that was just a guess.  All I know for sure is two things;

    1) when they open the game up for alpha testing, I WANT TO BE THERE

    2) When they start crowdfunding, I'll be one of the first to hand over my cash.

The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!

I honestly can't believe Vanguard didn't make this list, even at say, 4th place? Matrix Online and Tabula Rasa? Seriously? Not sure if this list is completely biased, payed for, or just absurd.
Now just who the fuck would pay to have dead games listed in a list of dead games?

    I'll miss SWG greatly.
I'll miss supplying both sides of the conflict with ships and weapons.

SWG does exist to some extent, however, City of Heroes being shutdown was the biggest slap in the face by any Game Developer.

To be fair, the developers certainly didn't want CoH shut down, they tried everything they could to avoid it. The culprit was NCSOFT, the publisher.

I really liked Vanguard even with all the issues...Was sad to see it get canned...

    Soon.........very soon.

Funny, I've never known anyone who played The Matrix Online or Tabula Rasa, though I tried the latter. On the other hand, you could throw a rock in any direction around here and hit someone who played Vanguard. Usually don't care about these lists, just thought I'd point that out.

  • rapatpamprapatpamp Member UncommonPosts: 144
Matrix wasn't bad just needed work.

Warhammer was good but the lead guy decides that the class he plays needs to be 100% better than the rest and kills the game due to imbalance.

I never got to try CoH because I was a Mac user back in the day. I have tried Champions Online and DC Heroes and disliked both of those. I heard CoH was the bomb.
