If you need a top 10 reason to play a game - something is wrong.
Games = entertainment = fun - what more reasons do you need?
The things that make it fun - somethings are not that obvious and require some research which can be done by going to the official website, but sometimes fan made/review sites offer an alternative to that exposure and creates awareness that again is not obvious with things like art style but more about the kind of pvp rules etc
Write bad things that are done to you in sand, but write the good things that happen to you on a piece of marble
I just want ArcheAge without the P2W cash shop, which is what BDO basically is.
Not really.
Player to player collision vs no player collision
There are pretty major differences between the 2 games IMO
You have said a couple of times on these forums that there is no collision detection in BDO, but when I read the posts of other people who have played the game they say that there is body blocking and player collision. So which is it?
Still wont buy it unless I get to try it for free. Everywhere its launched its flopped in 2-3 months from people running out of things to do. Quickly going F2P. So still not sold on this game when it comes to me spending money.
Having OWPvP, regardless of a karma system, along with an RNG vertical power enchant system is enough for me not to play it. The power difference, as seen from videos, is insane. Hopefully they listen to the discussions and polls about a flag or separate servers from their official forums but we'll see.
since there was a similar tera thread that tasted like a dev tryed to make hes cons look good id like to ask can any1 say that there are some points that u look diffrent at this game? like the no player trading system? somehow i dont think its a pro if i cant trade my stuff with my frinds or i got it wrong

Well, I agree open world PvP is pretty much a lost cause unless governed properly with game mechanics. Than again, this game is more group / guild oriented. This has never been marketed as solo friendly. Of course, I do believe the Karma system will help to curb the desire for players to kill needlessly. Especially level 50's killing lower level players which offer very little in compensation of putting their own higher tier items at risk.
The immaturity factor in the mass NA/EU MMO arena will not be able to resist the urge to "gank." They will either find a way around to doing it, or just do it regardless and live with the consequences. Sorry, but I have no hope for the PvP centric mentality in NA/EU. One thing is for certain, and you can bank on this, there will be non-stop crying and whining galore all over forums from the PvP centric players regarding this karma system. It will be loud and never ending. You can bet your house on it.
Looks alright but I just don't see how it's gonna be any different then any other gear grind treadmill that we have out now? I mean it's gorgeous but not sure that alone is gonna hold me here........
Especially considering this one is very light on PVE elements atm........... That's just gonna make me bored even quicker since I'm not that big of a pvper and I have a feeling I'm not the only one people are gonna max level then it's gonna be all she wrote once they find out there is nothing but pvp.........
Well first thing i do is check the You Tube video source because MANY You Tubers are simply in it for money and will support EVERY single game the same way this site does.
This does not seem to be the case here, seems he is simply a BDO fan.
I have noticed a simple way to judge a game and the developer, based on how they design their ARCHER classes. BDO fails as typical of most, the Archer plays more like a spam class, constantly shooting arrows in rapid fire like fashion.I don't remember off the top of my head but i am certain the class also uses no ammo which imo just says the dev is clueless and i would not want to play any game designed by that director/Producer or system designers. Another absolute kill immersion for me is stupid things like somersaults,i see that in a game i am so deleting it quickly. This is not Gymnastics class this is suppose to be combat. Some other classes seem to be ok but not the Giant, those spinning 360 spinorama's look just silly and dumb, once in a built up special attack ok but not spammed,i HATE spam combat even worse is spam aoe combat.
IMO Koreans should just make moba's or Diablo clones that seems to be what they favor ,they are ruining rpg's with a ton of silliness.Basically they like brain dead type gaming/combat.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

The irony is that "justice" systems only work for a small amount of the playerbase and to my knowledge, has not worked in practice, only in theory. Players on both ends of the PvP/PvE spectrum don't want/care about a system that kicks in post injustice. It either is too restrictive on the PvPer or gives the PvEer the false sense of assurance that the wasting of their time was worth it. It's a unicorn IMO.
In these OWPvP titles where there is a sharp vertical power difference regarding enchants the players with the most time/money (depending on CS status) will always be outrageously powerful. These players also have a higher chance to be the ones that exhibit a very undesirable attitude towards other players in general. Whatever restriction or punishment that is posed will either be too harsh for the average, decent, PvPer and be inconsequential to the hardcore one. The attention they seek will be gained in droves befire they come close to losing anything of value. I choose not to be an enabler.
As a side note this doesn't really have to do with wanting a solo friendly MMO. I love doing things as a group.
MMORPG needs to start a pool on this one. Within how many weeks after launch will the new shiny begin to wear off?
Look at BnS. The MMORPG Review In Progress was just posted and it's full of people saying they are already done with the game.
And here we all are chomping at the bit for a game that has already shown to have a questionable retention in other markets.
LOL.......just.......LOL
Just because one MMO might be doing badly, that means the next one is going to fail? LOL?
Oh that's right, MMORPG.com forum poster logic: both are from Korea so of course they are the same game and what happens to one will happen in the other.

They all fail because they mostly follow the same faulty pattern in one way (western wow clone) or another (asian beat'em up grinder). While there are some different approaches in detail here and there, most post-WoW titles fall back on concepts people are tired of for 10 years already and do not take innovation far enough to make it a "new" mmorpg experience. The result is that people leave a 2015 title after ~4 month because they have played the game for 10+ years already. Don't blame mmorpg.com forum poster logic for that, but investors/publishers shackling their studios and game development lead by suits instead of gamers.

Western releases haven't done any better. My point is it's stupid to lump all Korean games together, just like it would be stupid to lump all western MMOs together.
BDO is innovative. That's not going to be its problem, if it ends up having one.
Honestly, Korean games are generally much more innovative than western ones. People see the art style and assume they're all the same game...
Tera brought us action combat. Archeage didn't die because of lack of innovation either.

I always get a kick out of when people make something up and insert it into a conversation as though someone else said it only to try to ridicule that very thing they themselves said.
But even still, putting that aside, what are you trying to say here? That previously established and/or historical track records are not to be considered? I'd say there is enough of an established history in this area to say that that logic (That you stated, not me) isn't so off the wall where it is to be ridiculed.
If you haven't played BDO quite yet, you're not doing yourself any favors. I also would hold off on ripping it until you experience the beauty and power of the game's engine. Hell, I don't even care if the game fails as an MMO (I doubt it) but the engine they have alone has so much potential.
So I've been in the MMORPG market a long time, since pre-UO but let's just say UO and like many of you, been there and done that 100x over. BDO is the first MMORPG in a long time that feels completely fresh. Few points, coming from my 20 levels on the Korean servers:
The UI is top notch and like nothing you've seen before. Takes some getting used to, and there's a lot of settings which is initially daunting, but good in the long run. The overall UI makes the game feel completely modern and cutting edge; comparable to no other MMORPG out there. That means new "feel" and experience, which alone is worth a lot of weight to keep people playing - especially new-age gamers.
The world immersion is fantastic - it is better than the Witcher 3 and more visually impressive, IMO (and I mod Witcher 3 with GFX enhancements). Besides, this is an MMORPG we're talking about, making that feat quite impressive. \
The game is extremely open-ended and is fun just to run and explore in. You can climb most anywhere you can jump, so that means high on mountains in some areas. No box-in feel like so many Asian MMORPGs before it. Put it this way: it's the first MMORPG that I've had any incentive or interest in actual running around and exploring in nearly a decade. It's like playing a modded Skyrim just for the beauty, even when you don't do anything during your play session.
Combat is extremely fluid and fast. Action orientated, no tabbing (unlike Bless), and you fight multiple enemies at once. I haven't played a ton but so far it's very easy - no threat of dying or even any competition in PvE. I have yet to reach PvP which is what I mainly want to try. But the game contains a combo system and every skill you have has an awesome UI video showing you in-game how it features, all very seamless. Combos are more subtle than B&S, and I'd say harder to accurately pull off, but I enjoy it quite a bit more.
Bumping into NPCs and players never gets old, especially when your posing for a screenshot and get nudged out of the way.
There's a fair amount of non-combat systems in place, such as the node system (which I have yet to grasp or do my homework on) and the NPC conversation system (same). Basically you can talk to any NPC in the game and many have skill meters that you can use points on to gain affinity with (or some such). Anyway, there's more depth in this game than any other MMO I've seen when it comes to NPC interaction, which is cool.
Graphics/Engine are highly optimized. I run around 50-60 FPS with little drops and the game feels amazing. Can't get over how refreshing that is after so many years of the same thing. I've been playing Bless Online (Korea) the past day and I laught at how old and mechanically archaic the game and UI feel. Each time I play I go, "Well ... I need to detox in BDO".
All of you probably know by now, but character creation is extremely fun. You do have box limits (class locks, size locks, etc.) but hard to find a game that doesn't have that. Even Bless does which also boasts a pretty solid character creation tool. BDO's by far blows any of them away visually, but does have a specific art style some might not love.
Anyway, that's my thoughts. I'm not here saying it has some deep systems in place vs. ArcheAge or any other MMORPG and I'm not saying it's the next god-like MMORPG. Personally I think we are past the WoW-like domination of a single game given 1) how many games there are now, 2) how short-minded most gamers are and, 3) how casual the MMO market has been made to cater to those people to reap them of their pocket books with F2P and Cash Shop models of genre-destruction. Anyway, my point is I don't think you're ever going to see a WoW sized dominance of another game in this genre for some time.
But what I will say is that the game is definitely something new, something different. Something refreshing, if not beautiful. I've had a lot of fun it for the couple days I've played and I can't remember the last time I really had fun in an MMORPG outside of the first month Darkfall v1 launched.
Keep all that in mind when you just break down the "What Game A" has vs. "What BDO has" like so many do. I see a lot of ArcheAge defenders attacking BDO (I guess because they are threanted) and let me just say this: The games feel worlds apart. ArcheAge feels ancient compared to this game. Ancient. And that alone is what will attract tons of players to BDO. Not sure if it will hold them for years, but I don't think the MMORPG genre in it's current state is made to hold players all that long. Anyway, I'll play this longer than a month, that's for sure.

Yeah, they should have at least left the pvp level restriction at 50 so there would be at least some sense of balance. Another thing I notice is that a lot of the changes from the Korean version are driven by a small community of hardcore gamers, which doesn't necessarily reflect what would actually be popular in the West.

Man you say some of the darnedest things. We are talking about games. A game that specifically has Wpvp and systems build around it. From the bounty system to dropping silver to braking items to karma, it's all built around Wpvp.
What do you want someone to come across you, ask if you are busy, then declare they would like to fight?
I just want ArcheAge without the P2W cash shop, which is what BDO basically is.
Not really.
Non-instanced housing vs instanced housing Tab-target combat vs action combat "choose base skills" classes vs fixed classes Player to player collision vs no player collision Dungeons, Raids, Group world bosses vs none (as it stands currently) Naval combat vs none etc....
There are pretty major differences between the 2 games IMO
If you mean BDO has no dungeons, raids, group world bosses, the KR version is just now putting them in, so eventually western will too.

Most Korean MMOs have done well in the west. TERA did well for a long time. Lineage 2 before that did well. Aion actually did well.
The only Korean import to seriously crash and burn is Archeage.
That's the real Korean track record.
If you're not saying that all Korean imports are the same and they all fail within weeks (which would be wrong), then you're saying simply what I said- because one game is doing badly the next will too.
Either way you're wrong.
Anyway, I'm glad you're getting so many chuckles out of your posts. Hopefully you'll find an MMO that surpasses your standards/prejudices, eventually.
In the meantime, I'm having fun in Blade and Soul. I'm going to have fun in BDO. And for the foreseeable future, you're going to have fun.... on the mmorpg.com forums....

The reason it's a pro is explained in the video.
1. No player trading
2. Dev price fixing on the AH
Those plus the economy and trade system, shared open world housing, the combat, the art style, big open world with no fast ravel - I'm sold.
