Apparently 80% of the players stayed through the NGE.

So if someone owned SWG and used to play it, but now plays EQ2 exclusively.. they have no way to quantify it... so it counts for both.
Not that I think those numbers are overwhelming by any stretch.

They can and will be tracking what games players are playing on access and then they will know which one a player plays most. Ever see XFire and how it tracks games? Samething.

    Kai

Yea they know who is playing what and how often, they just dont like to say it. They would rather put everybody in the same bag and weigh it.

That's not what their accountant told a friend I trust implicitly. If they are adding this functionality.. please show me a reference for it.

The direct statement was that they don't separate Access pass subscriptions by game... only that they can tell if they have activated that game. If you played EQ on the pass.. but moved to EQ2, your pass tells them you play both no matter when you last logged in. That came directly from an $OE accountant's mouth. If you activated a game on your access pass, and you continue to pay the access pass, your subscription is counted to ALL the game tallies in your profile no matter what you log into.

Show me some evidence of this brothers nephews friends accountant of a swg employee or whatever's info and you got a deal.

I usually stay off the SWG boards here because it just infuriates me beyond the point of Sith vengance.  But I absolutely must respond to this.

Spathotan, I've seen SOE make the statements in reports and on their own boards.  What Shayde says is true, you need to do more research before making statements.

Besides, most of us on this board trust Shayde, we don't trust you, and you can argue till your heart's content, but you won't win this arguement in most of our eyes.

Well I havnt loged into SWG in over a week and there is no way in hell that 80% of the pre-NGE player base stayed. The last time I loged in during peak hours not 1 single person was online that was on my friends list that had over 120+ names on it,I would estimate that 80% of the player base left because of the NGE. Its almost like the Bush administration tellin everyone the war is goin ok!

Now that you are done rambling, let me clarify a few things for you.

    1. Im not, in any way calling Shayde a liar. He responded in an earlier post saying "If they are adding this functionality.. please show me a reference for it", refering to the xfire-ish ability mentioned before that, which I backed up, I backed up the origional statement, I did not make the statement myself. My responding post which read, "Show me some evidence of this brothers nephews friends accountant of a swg employee or whatever's info and you got a deal", was obviously a sarcastic-ass remark on my behalf, but I see you didnt understand that. I on the other hand know how to read, I know what Shayde said...thats why I just called my post " a sarcastic-ass remark."

    2. I dont care if you, or "we" dont trust me. Im not here to make friends or start some fan club, im here because Im a former SWG player from beta until the NGE was on test, I have just as much right to be on these boards as all the other members. I know what the game is and was, ive done my homework, so youre "do more research" statement, along with youre little "obvious lack of knowledge" comment are now worthless, null and void.

And lastly, 3. Stay off the SWG boards like you said you do, instead of comming here to troll.

I was in a large guild when I played just this evening. There were none of the "big guys" left playing for the last month. This game that I loved is going into the toilet as we speek.

Easy guys.  Let's not start a fight here.  We are all on the same team here.  We all hate SOE and the NGE.  Let's not have infighting.

I've heard that only 30k accounts are active nowadays. I have one, and personally, the game is overwhelmingly despressing. I was around before the CU, fought through that, got to the NGE, tried to fight through it, and I just can't handle how crappy it is. The only fun thing about it are the instanced dungeons (HK-47, Sher Kar, etc.) anymore, and getting items from doing them. So, I'm moving over to Guild Wars hopefully tommorow. ::::28:: I'm hoping I'll like that, and, if not, I'll find something... Hopefully Spore comes out in this coming year, if I do not find Guild Wars entertaining, or else I'll probably be bored out of my mind.

Virrago then went on to say:

"80% of the bugs have been fixed since the NGE. 80% of the players DON'T play Jedi. 80% of the players personally asked ME for the NGE. 80% of the crafters don't matter. 80% of the entertainers are men. 80% of Smedley is full of shit. 80% of my education was before 4th grade."

/sarcasm off (except the entertainers being men thing, that could be true image

I still have 4 active accounts, but not for much longer... I plan to move my 3 favorite characters to my Jedi account (my medic, and probably my entertainer) and cancel the other 3.

I just don't have time for 9 characters.

    actually.... do a little math.

    SWG actual accounts: ~30K

    AAP Accounts: 200K? 100K?

So.... by summing them together, they get 80% of what SWG had before NGE.... seems to be a complete disaster.. i mean.. not even by adding the guys that prolly are playing EQ 2 or planet side you manage to get 100% of the pre-nge numbers.... woah!.... and confirmed by their own mouth. woah! ;) Now... post THAT on their official forum ;)

My friend was at the fanfest, and that is where she was told this. She told me directly in an e-mail, in an old posting on our private forums AND sitting next to me at a poker table in Vegas.

Look, trust me all you want, but unless you provide ANY proof that they don't.. I know what I know.

But to further this... Why do you think they are selling the 6-games-in-one package now? Funny.. you'll suddenly register for ALL the games, and pay for the access pass if you buy it, to play EQ2 for example (since that's replacing the EQ2 box on the shelf, and is the last $OE game selling).. if it ISN'T padding the numbers?

And to add.. at the time they had about 30,000 access pass subscribers... and the accountant said it wasn't making a big enough impact to SW's numbers at the time. I'm sure it is larger now, since MANY people I know who came over with MxO got the access pass because they also dabbled in SWG or EQ... most were EQ1.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least. All you ever hear on the official forums is bitching veterans. You'd think maybe everyone learned their lesson and left long time ago ( I personally have been hoping this would happen), filling the forums with newbs, but nope. It's worse. No matter how much people complain, most are going to swallow what SWG has fed them anyway. Why? Because these people love Star Wars, and still have hope for the real Star Wars MMO to be there one morning. Even I am having a hard time resisting temtation to go back, and it's not gonna be for some stupid "rollback".

I have the interesting advantage of coming and going as I please over at SWG. A good friend works at EB and gave me 4 2 month game cards for my b-day last year. So, they just sit here on my desk, waiting for SWG to become whole once again. In the meantime, I bash it on forums. I know it's sad, but I get a deep seeded dark satisfaction from lighting fires on the deck of the Titanic. At this point, I don't even think it's really about Star Wars anymore for me. I loved the game system, it had no match anywhere in the gaming world. If someone came out with a Pre-CU version stripped of all it's "Star Warsyness" I'd still play the hell out of it. It's about a virtual world, not about playing Luke or Boba. Maybe we are in the minority, however there is a large enough minority out there that if someone were to make a game like this, it would probably do quite well for an indy. I wish SOE would just release the source for Pre-CU. Not so I could use the whole thing, but rip it apart to steal it's functions. In truth, SOE should have replaced it's core engine for this NGE crap. If they had replaced it with a more modern 3d engine with physics and ragdoll it would be a completely different story. And, in all honesty, THAT would have been a lot easier then the hack job they are attempting to do now. It seems difficult to replace something from the bottom up, but not so much as replacing something from the inside out. Especially considering they went from devs who knew what they were doing (meaning their comments in the code were very hard to understand or non existant) to devs looking back at what the original devs did and saying "Huh?". I think THAT is the main reason behind so many options being removed with the NGE. Not because they thought the game would be better without them, but because the new devs just couldn't hack the code.

Quite honestly, Shayde doesn't need to prove anything, this is just common sense and something I've been saying for some time. Basically, ANYONE who has a Station Pass & has registered SWG, even if they haven't logged in for years, is considered a current subscriber. Is this honest? No. Is it factually correct? Yes. They are already doing it, and if you don't believe me then your living in a fantasy world where SOE has been honest & treated their customers great.

When the new box set comes out, everyone who buys it will be considered a current SWG subscriber, even if they don't install it. As long as they have an Station Pass, they will count them that way. And don't be surprised if they don't give away SWG to longtime Station Pass subscribers, that will further bump their numbers.

SOE is known for using "funny math" with their sub numbers, and has been for some time. The funny moment will be at E3 when they announce an increase in subs, while at the same time having an all-time low of actual users online.

I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

    In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

Im not asking Shayde to prove anything...are you people blind? Jesus crist, read all my post in the thread before jumping to conclusions. If you would, you would see, read, and know my reason behind my statement...come on people get a grip.
