When I die I'm having my mind transferred into EVE.
Just try and not get reincarnated as an asteroid of Pyroxeres or anything. Seeing yourself getting violated, only to wait for the respawn so it can happen all over again. Not sure that's what I would call a great Afterlife.
P.S Meant to be joke but maybe the missing emote could be make look like derision. So,
Frankly I'm more surprised about the inactivity on this forums five years later than the ages!
There's not that much to talk about any more. There are dozens of shiny new MMOs that deliver an unimaginative rehash of the same WoW formula. There are more of these on the horizon. There are virtually no new or alternative concepts on the market at the moment and very few new or alternative concepts on the horizon that offer hope for a diversified future in MMO gaming.
- Any poll that tells me the typical mmorpg player today isn't much,
much younger than 15-20 years ago, I won't believe. Computer costs
back then, as well as the savvy needed to use them, were prohibitive. So
that's were the old "age 30+, college educated" number for mmorpgs
came from. But I'm sure it no longer holds true today.
- Hence why we now have different type mmorpgs, targeting different type players. The bean counters aren't complete morons.
-
My last assumption is that mmorpg.com is in no way representative of
the typical, present day mmorpg player. It's largely become a hangout
for sour, resentful old cranks - err, make that "enthusiasts" - who
simply want gameplay to go back to being a little more sophisticated.
And I doubt that's ever going to happen again. At least not with AAA
titles.
My typing skills were greatly improved by 'childish' gaming. A big help later on with the stroke recovery, too.
Working on the final edit of my fifth book.
What
ya'll need are some nice old-fashioned MUDs and an AIM friends list,
yup yup. Just like in the 90s! Mouse-clickins just won't teach da skillz
dat pay da billz.
Of course, my son's generation does writing on cell phone tiny tiny keypads...

Er...you do realize the OP clearly stated this is a poll on the age demographic of people who frequent and post on MMORPG.com and not on the actual games.
Also, it might well represent the demographic of MMORPG players, seems to me younger gamers favor MMOs (minimally multiplayer online) such as MOBAs, Destiny and Marvel Heroes.
As for AAA developers, they've walked away from MMORPGS in general, and are off pursuing a different audience.
But as Horton once heard, "we're here" and we have money to spend.
Currently all 6 of my EVE accounts are in the process of auto renewing for another year and it might be time to start a 7th.

My opinion on the matter is that MMORPG.com is in no way a direct representation of MMORPG populaces. Just as you have stated, the activity on this forum is actually defined by its most frequent forum-dwellers who play the "forum game" more consistently than they do actual games.
However, they still do have opinions and do love playing MMORPGs. Who better to ask? You can't poll a game's forums as they are obviously biased by the game they are invested in. This website offers a sort of neutrality that it is hard to find elsewhere.
