MMO goes offline in Jan and is only making headlines now? Must have been real popular (not)

Yeah, if this was WoW or alike the headlines would be out 15 minutes before the actual crash :)
Lets be serious, if it was a Blizzard run game, the worst that would have happened is a server restart, and these days, they are able to let you know about them several days before they have to do it.
But Kyleran is right, the fact that we're only hearing about this now is really surprising, which would have to mean that either it doesn't have many players, or that the ones they do have just didn't care enough about the game to talk about it.

Noooooo!! I hope I didn't lose my Love Pod 420!

'Sandbox MMO' is a PTSD trigger word for anyone who has the experience to know that anonymous players invariably use a 'sandbox' in the same manner a housecat does.

When your head is stuck in the sand, your ass becomes the only recognizable part of you.

No game is more fun than the one you can't play, and no game is more boring than one which you've become familiar.

People would be surpri...no HORRIFIED if they knew just how commonplace it is for businesses to cut corners with their critical data. Banks, credit unions, Medical centers, hospitals........they are all in the same boat and aren't prepared for catastrophic failure. I'm actually not surprised in any way to learn that Nexon was caught unprepared.
    Except thats not true.
While there are obviously some companies, usually small ones with revenue issues, that cut corners with things like that, the same cannot be said for Banks etc. you can be very very sure that their databases are secure, usually with layered encryption.

Umm not really..the term BANK is just a title,it is not like some super locked down security vault,it is just a title.

Those so  called databases are on their employees computers that yes they have special security login codes but guess what,,,ever hear of phishing, elaborate hacking, keyloggers? Also they are using Windows software which has a backdoor left open for Microsoft but also allows for some smart hackers to get in as well.

Spend some time researching the net and hackers will actually show you how they can not only login in to someone's network, they can even steal their passwords using special software. There are you tube videos showing this happening in mere minutes ,like 10 minutes to hack a security system and steal the password.

As well how do you think DDOS attacks happen, they have to hijack several websites and use them to spam another website.I can simply point to the aged Direct TV scam of several years ago, that whole scam was an inside job,the actual security people hired to protect the system were the ones stealing it and selling it.That went on for years until they finally paid the RCMP to investigate and apprehend the criminals who thought they  would be safe in Canada but $$$ money talks.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

The game name doesn't transfer between the news editor and the new forums. To put the name on the forum title would require hand editing every single news piece OR posting a double game name title in the news stream. It's not ideal or practical either way. When the new site comes online, that won't be an issue.

Are we talking about losing just Januarys data, or all data up to around January?  The latter would be rather catastrophic.
