I enjoy this DLC and it's definitely worth the 2,000 crowns - even more so when you consider all platforms got a sale for 40% off crowns the week the DLC was released for each platform.
Even aside from the quests and things, it's fun just to be pickpocketing or looting Thieves Troves as you go about your other business. It definitely adds some fun systems to the game and these sorts of things are what makes a game feel like it has a soul, instead of just some empty content treadmill. You still have new content that people enjoy, but the game as a whole feels like it's well thought out and cared for and not some money-making dev machine, but a full-fledged MMO that they really care about.
But you're also forgetting the new raid that is only available via the DLC, Maw of Lorkhaj. Why no mention of that? Not only is it new endgame content but it's scaled to the leader as much of the recent DLC content has been.
I must have missed this, I would have bought at least 10k crowns
We tend not to score DLCs, and if I had it my way we'd do away with scores on our full game reviews too.
I would totally support doing away with review "ratings" numbers.
Unfortunately, the majority of players love those numbers, because they don't have to actually read the review !
The numbers themselves become "facts", even if they are just an abstract numerical representation of the opinions of the reviewer. That leads to a easy misconception that a game with 8/10 is a "good" game that almost everyone will enjoy. Without reading the review, the score is relatively meaningless...

I have had a number of memory leaks in Hew's Bane, crashes out of the blue, missing textures, audio problems, never-ending loading screens, and don't get me started on the balancing issues. Some of these problems are with the 64bit client and some I experienced with both clients.
The fact that your review doesn't even mention any of this is quite alarming to me. You might try to chalk it up to "its the patch not the DLC," but I feel these kinds of issues ought to be brought up in a review regardless.

It's entirely possible that they didn't do the review until after the game had been patched and they didn't experience the problems. It's definitely worth asking the question, but to throw around words and accusations like "failed" with a melodramatic tone like "quite alarming to me" seems just over the top. This really isn't such a serious topic that you need to shame people for not meeting your expectations over a luxury entertainment pastime.

I disagree about my tone. I think a review is a failure if it doesn't meet certain standards, and one of those standards is to test a game on performance related issues. This review failed to meet that standard. And as someone who has some respect for mmorpg as a review site, I found that alarming.
I have yet to experience any of the issues stated in the quotes below. The game has run almost flawlessly with the exception of Cyrodiil, which everyone right now has it's own issues that aren't related to the DLC.

It is weird how a lot of reviews on the game big bugs and major issues aren't in majority of them. Not just this site a lot of sites have been doing that. Maybe they aren't really playing the game hardcore or something. Yet if they aren't running into the game breaking bugs then I fail to see what game they are playing. Just saying it isn't just this site.
I know ESO doesn't support Linux, and ofc they shouldn't. However removing the option to play in openGL in windows killed wine. So now thoose players who used linux and was able to log in and play prior to Thiefes patch cant log in anymore.
I know it's a tiny minority that use Linux, and most of thoose may even have a windows partition too, but i just find it realy hard to understand why the openGL option had to be removed from windows, especially when it's still there for Mac.
2 of my friends i played ESO with use Linus only ( maybe 3, but i think the third use windows too) and since we cant play together in ESO anymore i barely log in anymore either. Basicly we moved to a different mmo.
I dont know what the price for keeping the openGL on the windows client is, or if microsoft paid to have that removed or whatever the reason is.(tinfoilhat) I'm sure it makes sense, but personly i still think it sucks.

As a hardcore PvE player ou have no interest in a PvE governed system? That makes sense and I have just the answer for you. You should try PvE versus other players in Cyrodill. It's one of the best PvE non-PvE governed systems in the game.
An ungoverned gold farm based on some 80% rng, yeah I think its crap. Little different than 4 or 16 people coordinating in you know, combat.
Just because I said I was primarily a PvE player doesn't mean I didn't play all aspects of the game. The biggest fail of the thieves guild is the complete lack of PvP content. Especially after they took away Enforcers.
They didn't take away enforcers. They never added them. They realized what a huge mistake it would be when "hardcore pve" players (read pvp gankers) would just use it to grief everyone.
The drop rate is governed. That's why it's called a drop rate. The rate of the drops are governed. Now I know most people are anti-government these days, but they do a good jobs with drops (man I gotta stop reading KenM).
They scrapped or pushed back all promised improvements that were a base game upgrade not a dlc purchase. Coincidence?
Drop rate has nothing to do with it. The problem is there is little to no effort or consequence for procing that drop rate.
