Where did i shit talk the game here?  I'm talking about this attitude of "you don't get it" when it comes to this game.

"Those who walk in darkness, will never see the light."

Oh dear lord you must be trolling me.

You are one of the biggest critics of this game and you don't even play the game.

One simple question for you ...

How can a person even question the statement "You don't get it," when they don't even play the game.  I mean, there is no better person for which that statement is applicable, than a person who has never played the game.

    Irony at is best lol

I've played the game twice, in RU and with a pass here.  Believe it or not I was one of the staunchest defenders of the game before it released and I found out more details of the monetization model.

I'm not even talking about the game here.  If you want to know my opinion of the OP, it's pretty sandboxy compared to other MMOs.

I'm talking about your attitude.  It's getting out of hand, dude.  You're at the point where your imagining undiscovered features in the game.  It's BS and I'm calling it out.

You don't like my attitude because I disagree with you and put you, and your ilk, in your place as it should be. I can say the same about not liking yours.  And my reasons for not liking yours carry a lot more merit than your reason for not liking mine.  The reason I don't like your attitude is because you criticize the game while spreading misinformation and knowing very little about it.  Everything that you claim wrong about the game has already been disproven.   We're on different sides of the spectrum.  If you don't like my attitude, don't quote me and question my posts.  Otherwise, stand by because I am a straight shooter.  And I make no bones about it.

Regarding my vivid imagination, everything posted in that post was posted by another player who has no dog in this fight.  If you have facts to disprove them, then state them.  Calling BS on it simply because it brings the game to good light doesn't mean it doesn't exist, all it means is that anything that is said that is positive about the game grates on you because you are ... you know ... a hater.  You have never been a staunch defender of BDO.  If anyone needs to be called out on anything, it is you with that asinine remark.  We all know better.

What are you even going off about ... No one launched any innacuarcies against her ..

matter a fact the only innacuarcie was ... " There are Features in BDO that have yet to be discovered ..."

Not having discovered a dye .. Is not a Feature ....

I am currenlty lvl 31 , and i do enjoy many aspects of BDO and not so much some others , i have made that clear ...

Its ok ya know if everyone doesnt like everything that BDO does and spin that the same way and say some people would appreciate and honest grounded account of the game .. Not an over zealous fanboi approach ...

Im guessing then that you have loved every part and Feature of every MMo you ever played and never offered up any constructive criticism .. Now we can go check your post history and see.. But i am sure we all know the answer...

And as much as you want to leap forward with your shield to protect her  from said "innacuarcies that you perceive "

There are others that want to also bring it  others attention when false and misleading information is being drooled out all over her ..

So im gonna go play abit .. got some bandits to kill and lizards to skin .. beer to brew .. fun stuff....

And you need to realize that your internet girlfriend is out there for everyone to look at analyze and judge , and everything that every sees isnt always gonna be exactly the way you want it, people will see imperfections in her , you dont have to love her any less ... SHes the new girl on the block , everyone is gonna take there turn with her .. Hope ya dont mind to much .. i will have her bath when im done

The real question is ... what are you going on about?

You asked me a question after my initial post on this thread and I gave you an honest and sincere answer.  It must have touched your hater "funny bone" because my response caused you to go off the deep end calling the post a "worthless wall of text" and accusing me of getting defensive and being an "ambitious fanboi" and what not.  Any unbiased person reading my post will see nothing defensive about it.

Your perceptions are misplaced my friend.  Get them in line first, before coming at me sideways.  When you come at me right, I will respond in kind.  Come at me all crazy, and you will not like it.

Another person who doesn't get it.  It's been said before and I'll say it again, BDO is not for everybody. Those who understand its game play love it, those who dont, are forever left scratching their heads. If you're in that group, just move on and accept the fact that the game is just not for you.

The servers are full and the game is establishing it's player base.  There are great patches coming and the sky is the limit with the foundation in which BDO sits.  With the variety of game play that BDO offers, and with more yet to come, those who love the game have found a home they will enjoy for a very long time. Those who don't will be forever left on the outside looking in, and still looking for that game that they will enjoy as much as those of us who are playing and enjoying BDO.

It will be long time coming before a game with as much variety and future game play potential as BDO is developed and released again.  There are features in BDO that have not been discovered and players have yet to unlock.  Yes, it is that deep.  How many MMORPGS can you say that about that have been out for over two years?

The nay-sayers will just have to accept that no amount of salt throwing is going to change the minds of those who love BDO in their attempt to bring us down to their misery.  We get it, and love it, you dont.  It really doesnt require  much more of an explanation than that.

    It's literally just that simple.

What features have yet to be discovered and unlocked ?

Those of us who are really interested in researching the game, instead of criticizing it because it doesn't meet our personal shallow expectations of game play, know about these things.  There are many things that players who have delved into BDOs game play depth are just now discovering, and are  continuing to discover as they progress through the game.  The game evolves depending on your overall achievement of the game. There is no website that you can google that will tell you this because no player has been able to complete 100% of the content that BDO offers.  New quests, discoveries, and rewards as you progress through the game according to how much amity you have with NPCs and towns. You may not see them at level 20, but when you go back at level 50, and talk to them again, it they will be there.  But just not any level 50, it depends on a calculation of that level 50s overall contribution and achievements in the game.

Here is an example as experienced by a poster in the BDO forums ...

I've already found some insert you can craft into a dye, not sure which color likely red from the icon of the insect... could be green or purple if ichor is a funny color... so clearly there are other sources of dyes. Some of the stuff in the NA/EU version looks like it is missing because players have not contributed enough to unlock the stuff. Like the towns get more buildings and gear based on the amount of energy, and quests you do... pretty sure there are bunch of underlaying systems they are not explaining to prevent people from exploiting them. Like a bought a house in hidel no one else was using it as a residence I but the marble down from the cash shop... it stays marble and building structure becomes nicer looking someone buys it as a house and since they don't have the marble they don't get it for free, they have to invest engery to advance the quality of their instance of it. you buy a house to use as storage the door ends up boarded up. It's actually fun to watch as the towns change based on what people are doing in game... npc's react to who you have talked to, and what you said to them, what clothes you are wearing... still not sure if the costums effect them or not... but having high or lower station in the game impacts if npc's will talk to you like a normal person and thus unlock quests... amity is how well you know a person... having high amity unlocks stuff you can not buy other wise and without amity of one or greater you can not even see those items. not sure where the lines fall but you literately have to chose to spend you energy harvesting, crafting, or socializing... it all seems to impact your ability to make money in game. some of the stuff in game seems to unlock based on players doing something and I don't think it is all questing based. you can build up all your contrib points in one town and have higher quality items but to get different items you have to have a trade network. towns with one of two buildings and no one investing energy in them stay that way. you do quests or simply click the invest energy they get more developed but only if a player has a trade route to them... I have most of mine sunk into as many places as I can but clearly that only goes so far the rest are built up in hidel because that is the first house I bought. And most npc's react as if I am from hidel working with the xian trade pact well except for those that remember that my character was in one of the beta's... that was so funny running into the npc's that have the accounts tracked from the beta. I have four character slots unlocked and I'm only at level 24 or so because I spent the time building the trade network not questing and most npc's react as if I am well connected not just some adventurer... it is interesting.

... and that is just one account.  You can find many more as you read people's experiences.  Most player's just talk about one or two new things that they have discovered because no player has been able to discover everything.  It's only when you put all of the small nuggets of things that people have experienced that you realize how truly deep this game is.

The thing is these are known in Korea, I mean just because your next door neighbor has not heard of quarks, it doesn't mean that they are undiscovered.

Players in Korea have only been able to reach the 12th level in the 100 level dungeon that's coming to NA/EU in June.
So I would say those levels are undiscovered, if you want to start there.

I'm still lovin' it, but I can feel the end coming. A fun filled few weeks with lots of sparkle, then the realization that the best levelling/power is by grinding, best equipment is by grinding, best money is by grinding. If it walks like duck and quacks like a duck..... it's just another grinder.

That's actually not true at all, the best money is from life skills. On pretty much every server the richest players are artisan crafters....
I am already an EU artisan crafter (level 5) and I can tell you that is just not true. There are too many restrictions in place, prices, time taken, shortage of materials etc. Things you do not have to worry about whilst grinding for wealth (outside of having to move area if you get PK'ed off). All the rich players on my server (of those I know) are grinders. All of them save one alchemy guy.

In the long term... and just a guess because I have not asked everyone :), that the reason for the richest players being artisan crafters on more established servers is that crafting is fundamentally less boring than constant grinding. Hence the crafter players stay longer, accumulate more wealth....
Yes you can make money both ways, and the easiest is lifeskills since most of it can be done with workers, or afk fishing ect. I'm on Orwen-Calpheon and the current high wealth player is a member of <FishingRodCartel> not hard to guess what they do. It depends on what type of player you are, but grinding is not the only way to make silver, and that was the point of my post.

Anyone calling BD a sandbox has missed the best part of what makes a sandbox a sandbox. The ability to create. Be the story, the world, skills, class. BD has none of that anywhere. I would not call BD a sandbox in any way. Can't even change the world with PvP.

Instead of calling games "themepark" or "sandbox", I think other terms should be used, e.g - "linear", "divergent" or "convergent" gameplay.

Minecraft is a "divergent" game because there are many ways to either fight OR build.

BDO, Skyrim and Eve Online are "convergent" games because there are many ways to fight.

Dark Souls is a "linear" game because once the quest is completed, the credits roll.

Someone here was nice enough to give me a 7-day pass which was very kind of them. I wanted to try it before buying it, I decided not to buy it. Not because it's not a sandbox, I don't think anyone with a clear head who plays the game for more than 20 mins can argue that.

I didn't buy it because of the philosophy behind it which is an intention we're all too familiar with in the gaming industry - greed. Greedy people make inferior products, it's in their nature, part of the fiber of their being, like criminals in Gotham City.

I hit 50, ran into the experience wall, and after about 3 hours of solid grinding, asked myself a very simple question: what am I going to do when I hit 56? Keep going? Or, more likely, am I just going to go sit in the tavern and watch the RP unfold?

And that's when the game ended.
That is your problem. I am level 19 and have not seen but probably 15% of the map. I play daily, I don't play to level, I play to play. Stop to smell the roses and stop the grind mindset. People like you ruin MMO's by rushing to the end and complaining you have nothing to do. There is so much to do in this game, I highly doubt you scratched the surface of most of what it offers.

Is it a sandbox? I don't care. I doubt anyone enjoying it does.

Well to be clear - Pearl Abyss made the game.  Daum is like a baby EA that is milking the NA/EU player base for as much money as they can get.  They're a small European outfit that is completely overwhelmed and they don't have a clue as to what they are doing.  Their Community Managers are volunteers.  That should tell you something about them and how they run their 'business.'  So you're right in a way, just that the game itself was not made with that intent.  Which is why so many see a disconnect from the quality of the game, but certain things that aren't available or the implementation seems a little off.  Like things are 'missing' from the game.  The truth is they are missing.  They're missing so Daum can get that sweet sweet money.  That is the problem.  Not the game itself.

Yes I acknowledge (and stated) that what games we play comes down to personal preference.  But people are acting like their personal preference is somehow superior to others, and if you don't like it then there must be something wrong or lacking with you.

There's a pervasive high-minded elitist attitude with some fans of the game.  That's what I'm objecting to here.
Are they or are you just taking it that way? Sure, you are going to find that some players have an attitude and that they think their game of choice shows how awesome they are. You will find it in Darkfall posts, Original Everquest posts, in Blade and Soul, etc.

But if someone is just saying you have to either "get it or not" then I would be careful to attribute anything more than that.

I'm enjoying my time in BDO despite my several harsh criticisms of the game. With that said, BDO certainly isn't a sandbox and it's frustrating that people who feel it is a sandbox can't explain how it's a sandbox, resorting solely to straw-man arguments against the initial assertion that it isn't...
